r/all is filled with /r/the_donald calling out /r/news

Fucks sake America. First Christina Grimmie and now this? Get your shit together. What a waste of life.

The first /r/ news thread was locked down the moment of the FBI interview where they said that the perpetrator had leanings toward radical Islamism.
They are still in complete lockdown mode. It's like the dumb fucks never heard of the Streisand effect.

And that in the face of the worst spree shooting in the United States ever. 20 deaths were already a lot, but 50+ deaths, holy fuck.
EDIT Notification: /r/ news lockdown ended around 10 minutes ago. Still a bloody poor show of integrity and free speech.
what in the name of fuck would compel someone into doing this kind of absolutely retarded shit
Honestly, I pray for the families and probably the local populace which practices Islam or even looks remotely Arab. They are in for a fun ride here in the states in the coming months.

What exactly are they trying to achieve? Are they trying to pretend that this wasn't religiously motivated or what?

Maybe waiting for "leaning towards" being more specific
Not something I wanted to wake up to in the morning news.
I live like 30 minutes from where this happened. I'm so amazingly saddened by this. Florida has never been a terribly violent state. Mostly just the place where all the weird shit happens. Sure we've had problems with drugs and 'wtf' crimes but never something like this.
Now the worst mass shooting in US History has taken place in my home state, and my heart has broken.

I don't think they want a repeat of Reddit's witch-hunt in identifying the Boston Bomber: [url]https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunil_Tripathi[/url]
Honestly, I'm not sure what the next few months will hold. Definitely some gun control pushing, possibly some further action against ISIS(or whatever group has finger pointed at it), and retribution attacks across the country.
oh man this is a gay bar isn't it. cue my homophobic friends on facebook saying stupid disrespectful selfish bullshit

But the shooter has already been identified and killed?
Still the Washington Post for example says "Police have not identified a possible motive, and details about Mateen’s background were scarce on Sunday morning. His family is from Afghanistan, while Mateen is believed to have been born in the United States." and it's really not that good of an idea to start speculating now, nothing good has ever come from this.
[editline]12th June 2016[/editline]
And then you have the family
"One relative said that Mateen’s family was in shock after being told on Sunday morning about his involvement. This relative said Mateen’s family was very sorry about what had happened."
which I doubt people will read when outraged about the dude

Ultra conservative Americans are probably super confused about this. On the one hand, it was possible Islamic terrorism, but on the other hand, a gay nightclub was attacked. Hopefully they get so confused about whether this is a good or bad thing to them that it knocks some sense into them.

I guess at least one good thing might come from this. Pity it required a terrible loss of life.

I don't think any conservatives wish death upon homosexuals. Except ultra fringe nazi/hate groups.
Everyone's so focused on identity politics that they look over the fact that one shooter was able to hit over 100 people (50 being dead, the other 53 injured). Bodycounts from lone shooters are rarely this high. There's something really fishy about this.

Well, maybe not death, but the fact their own views have some similarities to Islamic terrorists will hopefully.

I take it you've never been to a night club then?

You seriously think a persons political ideology is going to get in the way of them realizing what a hugely evil thing the loss of fifty or more of their countrymen is? You SERIOUSLY believe that?
And people say conservatives try to paint their opponents as amoral monsters, christ.

Clubs aren't known for having many exits

You act as if nobody has ever used a mass shooting to push an agenda.

300 or so people tightly crammed in a small building, loud music, bright lights. What so hard to believe?

In such a location, the victims were fish in a barrel.
Everyone tries running and clogs the exits. People die, people fall over. The clog doesn't clear until many have died.

Dude, a nightclub is generally a somewhat small building considering the stated capacities of them. I've been to maybe one or two where I could say, extend my arms without hitting another person, and that was due to me going out on a weekday. Over weekends these places are packed shoulder to shoulder normally.
You've got a huge mass of people to hit, and that mass of people can't escape easily due to the nature of crowds in enclosed spaces.

Yes. The Pulse was a well known gay/drag club

What's so fishy? In a crowded building, most rifle calibers will rip through the initial target, and continue going. Depending on the caliber, which is most likely 7.62 or 5.56, it doesn't matter where you hit really, that bullet is gonna keep going until about a second or third person.
I had a friend who was there who literally had to break down a wall to escape.
Thankfully he and the friends he was with are currently safe.
Could this also be the deadliest attack against LGBT after the Upstairs Lounge arson attack from 1973?
[editline]sss[/editline]
Yep, seems that way.
