I think there might be a language barrier problem or something. Your post did not make a single bit of sense. You blatantly contradicted yourself, saying that the WBC exists to provoke people, yet then you said that they don't actually provoke people.
ok, once more...
The fuck..?
I never said they don't provoke people. I said a lot of people have been *this* close to bashing their faces in because of the WBC pretty much begging to get assaulted, but have controlled themselves because they know that their legal team will completely ruin their life.
Why are you bringing US law into this? I'm pretty sure I don't agree with current US free speech laws.
I'm not using the law as justification, I'm using it as an example. All that I meant to say was that logically, you have to connect the "hate speech" to actual violence happening. Otherwise, any matter of expression can be tenuously linked to some sort of violence somewhere. I could baselessly claim that a black rights rally caused gang violence or something. You need to prove that the WBCs speech is causing violence somehow.
wow this thread.
Just saying that someone deserves to die is a pretty slippery thing to make illegal.
I do agree that protests shouldn't be allowed at funerals though.
It all depends on the effect and reach of what is being said, as far as I'm concerned. Someone telling a soldier he deserves to die, while a pretty stupid thing to do, I don't really consider hate speech. A group telling soldiers or a soldier they deserve to die I do consider hate speech. Me telling Explosions to his face, or on a small message board like facepunch; he deserves to die for his shitty free speech opinion, I don't consider hate speech. Me telling my twitter followers (a public forum, also assuming I have a significant twitter following) Explosions deserves to die because of his opinion I do consider hate speech.
A group like the WBC saying gay people deserve to die has a significant chance of inciting violence because they're a well known group with a lot of followers.
Do you not see a pretty huge difference between pretty much any place, and a cemetery? What do you mean how can you legislate that? It's public space therefore the government decides what you can and cannot do there.
No, I don't see the difference. In fact, I would say that perpetual protest outside someone's place of work can be a lot more "damaging" than protest for an hour at a cemetery could be.

I'm gonna take this step by step.
You first made this post, where you said that the WBC makes money by provoking people.
I replied, asking you to prove this.
You then made this post, where you made it clear that people never really attack the WBC.
So, my question is, if people don't attack them, how do they make money? What magical method do they use to extort money out of these people who have done nothing to them?

My opinion that you shouldn't be allowed to protest at a funeral has nothing to do with the WBC or what kind of damage it could do. It's simply not something I believe should be disturbed by anything, because it's not a decent thing to do. Someones final resting place should not be the place for protest or disturbance, it's not the right place or time, and I don't have any good arguments for it except that I feel like it's one place you should just leave alone, and it wouldn't hurt if it was government mandated.

You could have started with that and saved me the trouble of even reading your posts to begin with.

Okay.

you come off as you support the WBC
who cares if he can't find any actual examples.
Difference is the KKK actually killed people. There are hundreds of "Klans" that still exist in the U.S. today and hold rallies all the time. It's part of living in a free society where you can express your opinion even if it's considered offensive by some.
You don't need to kill people to be a terrorist.
Are these fools still around?
you come off as you support the WBC
I have never supported the WBC and never will. They are a vile organization. I wish they would go away forever.
who cares if he can't find any actual examples.
Lol nobody has proven this supposed "scam" that the WBC is running. It's nothing but baseless conjecture made in order to make arguing against them easier.
You don't need to kill people to be a terrorist.
Rush Limbaugh is a terrorist.
Rush Limbaugh is a terrorist.
I'm not sure if I'd be a good person to determine if someone is a terrorist since I honestly think that anyone who is very strongly against my views is a terrorist.
Are these fools still around?
People keep giving them attention.
