Modern Warfare 2's Favela map removed for offensive religious imagery - Polidicks

It bothers me, when this people have more important things to bitch in their lives, they still find time to bitch about the painting of a tree in a wall in the bathroom of a brazilian favela in an almost-4-years-old videogame.

This is such bullshit. I loved that map. Who knew IW were total pussies. They should have explained that they were cutting corners and told them to not get offended about it (they were, the newspapers and cars on favela were taken from levels in the middle east. The same goes for the pictures)

The whiners are stupid bitches 2. Activision are stupid bitches Personally, I see it as number 1, some people see it as number 2, but try not to generalize all of FP and then begin assuming, it just makes you look try-hard. Regardless, if Valve did the same thing, the whiners are still stupid bitches. And I'd really doubt Valve [i]would[/i] do the same thing. I wouldn't mind if Valve replaced the texture, but hot damn, removing the [i]entire map[/i]? They'd probably just change the texture to a simple frame, if anything.

They would take out Favela when some Muslims complain about a small picture in it but they would never update game-breaking bugs that riddle the game today. Wow.

So the gamers around the world from now on should all pretend to be Muslims. "This shitty balance offends me, now fix it". "This glich with falling through the floor offends me, fix it". (BF3-ish) "The shitty effects-ridden obstructed field of view resembles piss on face, this offends me, now fix it". And developers would not have any choice but to cater.

I always liked Favela. Couldn't the painting just've been edited out?

I mean sure you could pull it out of the stock map rotation, but then servers can advertise 'authentic maps' and related crap. You wouldn't accomplish anything by removing a map from TF2. Once it's out in the wild, it's out there.

Private matches still allow for the map to be played. At this rate, though, I wouldn't be surprised if they just edit out those paintings instead of actually changing the textures.

I can go out and get older variations of maps. Wasn't goldrush updated several times over the first year or two of TF2? It's not even getting into the what would I do if valve tried to pull something like this (I'd be pissed off), but I don't think they even could if they wanted to short of hardcoding a block on a map into the client, and even then, adding a single object in a spot you can't get to would break almost any form of block.
