It looks like that guy is looting Chinese food. Doesn't he know that's a waste of time. He'll feel the need to loot again in 30 minutes.
Hello Rioters. Look at your friend, now back to me. Now at your friend, now back to me. Sadly, he isn't me, but if he stopped using bombs and started using job centre he could potentially be me. Look down, back up. Where are we? You're at an interview with the man your friend could work for. What's in your hand? Back at me. I have it. It's an application form to that job you need. Look again. The form is now money. Anything is possible when you get a job & stop looting. I'm on a horse.

Can anyone offer a recap of the nights events?
this happened in oakland not to long ago didn't it? a cop shoots a guy, riots. The cop gets 5 years, riot. As I remember it was at a bart station and a guy was fighting or something so the cops had the fighters on their knees, hands on their heads, and the cop shot the guy. Killed him. Big riots after that.
Can anyone offer a recap of the nights events?
Rain and fuck all it seems. By the sounds of it people tried to start shit in some places but due to the number of police it was quickly quelled. [editline]11th August 2011[/editline] Oh and that dumb petition is at 85k signatures.

Hrmph. A helicopter is circling around the area, but BBC aren't doing live coverage of riots, the blog I was following has stopped posting, and facebook is clean, and twitter is just people asking what's with the helicopter.
I think it's ended. Now begins the process of punishing the rioters.

I bet that teacher was just trying to teach the kids physics, "If I toss this brick at that window, how much merchandise can I carry out through the hole it makes? Show your work."
So the riots ended? This thread went from the usual 100~ readers to just 5 I'm guessing it all blew over?
from what i'm reading there's still damage control going on but the riots have subsisted. so thank god it's starting to wind down...
from what i'm reading there's still damage control going on but the riots have subsisted. so thank god it's starting to wind down...
That's good to hear. I was worried that people would just continue on until serious action would have to be taken, and then I was worried that would cause even more violence. This whole thing is a massive reminder of how powerful mob mentality is and how quickly groups of people go into complete anarchy when they realize the police can't/aren't doing anything about crimes. "Everyone else is doing it, so they can't possibly track us all down!" It didn't really hit me that these riots were that big of a deal until I saw the pictures of entire city blocks engulfed in flames.
So the riots ended? This thread went from the usual 100~ readers to just 5 I'm guessing it all blew over?
It seems that a combination of massive numbers of visible police, rain and a sudden drop in temperature (in most of the country anyway) overnight have helped get rid of it. Or the other option, peoples houses are full of TVs now and they cant loot anything else. I just thought it was some sort of minor protest at the start of the weekend, till I woke up to that image of the building in Tottenham that had been burnt down.
Or the other option, peoples houses are full of TVs now and they cant loot anything else.
yes, more marketing share for britain's got talent!
I didn't follow the protests until the third day because I exiled myself from this thread when it looked like it would turn into an argument about wepon
well it's okay i deflected anger towards me. but in reality i knew it would be bad when i started hearing from a friend of mine that people were indiscriminately going into the street to start breaking shit. he also sent me pictures of burnt out cars and torn down windows and that was awful. the last thing anyone needed in these awful conditions were health bills and repair bills.

The upside of these riots is getting to hear Americans and to a lesser extent other people pronounce Birmingham Berrrr-ming-HAM
The upside of these riots is getting to hear Americans and to a lesser extent other people pronounce Birmingham Berrrr-ming-HAM
Well we have a town here in the states called Birmingham, so it's not too odd.
It's over but for long not if they strip the rioters from all their benefits. They're rioters with a taste for blood. They have no benefits why the fuck not riot. Also it's not like they're people that won't riot. They're getting their shit slashed for rioting. This petition shit is retarded.
The petition's 94% of the way to Parliament
The petition's 94% of the way to Parliament
Better not pass.
