No one can deny that the Police are ill equipped to deal with this.
Everyone rioting is a massive cunt.
We don't even know what happened with the man who got shot yet, whether it was justified or not.
I was watching the news earlier, and they were talking to people from the communities where the rioting is taking place. One woman was saying it was a result of institutionalised racism in the police, and general poverty. The police shot the man because, from what we've been told so far, the man had a fucking gun.
There may be problems with institutionalised racism, but until we know more we can't put the shooting down to that. Someone on facebook put "they were regular working class people from the community. People are showing the police that decades of police brutality and institutional racism towards the ethnic communitieswon't be tolerated, that they won't stand for police oppression or community members being murdered."
That would be the reason for the peaceful protests which preceded the rioting - but the rioting is a load of cunts smashing stuff, and calling up their cunt friends to join in. I haven't been keeping up with this - do we know if people have died as a result of the rioting? I know a block of flats was set alight after someone burnt down the carpet shop underneath.
People you need to understand, no one cares anymore now about the dead guy now, they used him as a bloody excuse to commit crimes!
"People are showing the police that decades of police brutality and institutional racism towards the ethnic communitieswon't be tolerated, that they won't stand for police oppression or community members being murdered."
Fight police brutality with civilian brutality?
Whether or not to send in the army will certainly be on the table at the COBRA meeting tomorrow morning so we'll have to see what happens tomorrow
It will be too late by then. That COBRA meeting should be happening right this second, by phone if needed to be honest.
No one can deny that the Police are ill equipped to deal with this.
England can't even deal with light snowfall so this doesn't suprise me
Looting and destroying a city seems rather counter-intuitive if your excuse is getting your taxes back... After all, who's going to pay for the clean-up?
I NEVER thought I'd say this..
but at least Canada lost a hockey game
I think the army are gonna have to step in eventually, especially if this carries on tomorrow, but I'm betting nothing can happen with the army until after the COBRA meeting.
England can't even deal with light snowfall so this doesn't suprise me
Sad funny and true at the same time.
No one can deny that the Police are ill equipped to deal with this.
It's rather sad that all they can do is stand and watch. Rubber bullets and watercannons would have helpted a lot.
I'm quite confused, the police presence seems like nothing compared to the presence of police at the student riots a few months ago. Where are they all? I also feel sad for shop owners who have owned shops in London for years only to get destroyed by the scum of our generation.... very sad.
I can't help but think even just an army presence in the area would help things. A lady on the bbc just said that she is watching police and they have no idea what to do. I hope this shit gets sorted quickly.
Natural wasteage. Most officers have had retirement forced upon them if they've served for 30 years. You'd be surprised how many that is BEFORE we even mention cuts.
Don't forget these aren't protesters, and neither were 99% of the idiots at the tuition fees marches. There are groups of thugs that can be called on to mobilise and behave like this.
Looting and destroying a city seems rather counter-intuitive if your excuse is getting your taxes back... After all, who's going to pay for the clean-up?
the people rioting don't posses that thing you used to work this out.
A Brain.
Unfortunately they can't even make it look like they are just helping, calling in the army is as you say basically saying "we are shit HELP!!"
I think at this stage hurt pride is a small factor, i'm sure the Brits have a army public order unit. I seen them plenty of times as a kid in the north.
Looting and destroying a city seems rather counter-intuitive if your excuse is getting your taxes back... After all, who's going to pay for the clean-up?
Hopefully nobody at all.
Why are normal good people not going out and beating the shit out of these rioters/looters? There'smore normal people than these dicks and we would all go and help out the police if we were nearby.
People are planking in the middle of the riots, yes planking.
For fucks sake.

Of course they're ill-equipped, and it's only going to get worse if it continues tomorrow and the day after. London's police force isn't big, and most of these guys have worked 3 nights running, and there still needs to be people on duty during the day too.
I completely agree that in some form, the army could help here. Even if it's just kettling rioters. I just don't think it'll happen... if the government admit that the police are useless, then it opens them up to even more challenges with situations like this.
fucking deport them.
or hang them. either way.
No. If they've committed a crime arrest them and put them in jail.
Looting and destroying a city seems rather counter-intuitive if your excuse is getting your taxes back... After all, who's going to pay for the clean-up?
Save some time and stop trying to make sense of any of this. Theres no point to any of it.
If the riots hit Bournemouth, I'm gonna wait outside my house with a cricket bat and threaten looters
If they hit the brighton area i'm getting a pickaxe(My stepdad has one) And a rusty staple gun and going fucking Judge Dredd up in this bitch.
I think the army are gonna have to step in eventually, especially if this carries on tomorrow, but I'm betting nothing can happen with the army until after the COBRA meeting.
That ladies taxes from video will go over to army deployment now.

That's London for you.
This is getting worse and worse.
Camden, clapham, islington, croyden, people being shot, landmarks are being burnt to a crisp and more. Theres even reports of it being in BIRMINGHAM. This is madness, and its not just the 'bad areas', the more upmarket and friendlier places are getting fucked too.
The police are overrun and too spread out. Entire streets and roads are being looted and torched before police can even get there or spread their resources even thinner.
There is a reporter on BBC news talking to a VERY distressed elderly lady who woke up to men dressed in black breaking her front door down and standing in her room.
London is in chaos. It honestly looks like a warzone, like something out of 28 days later.
We need to bring the army in.
No. If they've committed a crime arrest them and put them in jail.
and waste more tax payer money after a lengthy court battle where their scumbad lawyer gets them less time in jail.
These people ar behaving like animals, i say treat them that way.
Just received word it's started in Liverpool from a friend:
"it's just started
they're going fucking mental
Bus on fire
tescos being raided.
And there setting loads of shit on fire. It's all over facebook mate with pictures

Anyone confirm? I'm just over the River Mersey
They won't send in the army because that implies that the police aren't up to the job. Even though that may be true, it's not the message those in power want to give.
I don't know that this makes sense, I mean everyone is already saying the Police can't handle it, if they don't do anything then it's just going to make the government look clueless and ignorant of what is actually happening
The BBC earlier was saying the police are getting fatigued after 3 days of this shit so if it carries on tomorrow I wouldn't be surprised if the army was deployed, especially with Downing Street back in full action now

I think it's a bit more than "reports" of it being in Birmingham. I think I can confirm. it's in Birmingham.

That's sort of what I was getting at, regarding that guy on facebook who tried to put it down to 'police oppression of the working classes'.
