Or maybe we're more civilized and don't attack the police at every instance possible for trying to do their job.
That's actually the exact opposite of what I've seen around here.
Oh no, I'm going to London on Monday.
You have no good reason to enter Tottenham on a good day, so don't worry about it.
DID YOU SERIOUSLY JUST FUCKING MISS THAT?
ARE YOU FUCKING JOKING?
SERIOUSLY?!
Miss what?
Miss what?
DON'T TURN THIS IN TO A FUCKING GUN CONTROL THREAD
That.
No if we where allowed guns everyone in that riot would be wielding fire arms and shooting the fuck out of everything.
America can get away with fire arms because it's a country that was brought up with them, the UK on the other hand would just end in anarchy if they suddenly legalised them.
May I point out the Firearms Act 1968 prior to tthat you had to be 17 to own a shotgun. Prviously (1920) you could be 14 and prior to that (Pistols act 1903) you could own pretty much any gun as long as you had a license (even now licenses are easy to get).
British history has allowed us to own guns, it is recently where it has become restricted.

It's past 12 oclock, my eyes are losing focus.
Missiles were thrown at two traffic police cars parked on Foster Road, before they were set alight.
Wait they were literally thrown at the cars? :pwn:
If this happened in the middle east you guys would support it and call the police oppressive.
Wait they were literally thrown at the cars? :pwn:
I think they meant objects like broom sticks.

What?
Just...
What?
If this happened in the middle east you guys would support it and call the police oppressive.
Do you even know what this protest is about? It was supposed to be a peaceful protest about supposed police misuse of a firearm, and it turned into a riot for no good reason. Being in any other area in the world would not be grounds for people to change their opinion on the fact that this riot is unwarranted and rather stupid.
This is happening just under 4 miles from me.

Go get us some photos

If I walk down the street for about half a mile I'll enter a warzone called "Newark"
They shoot us honkies.
Miss what?
The extremely obvious sarcasm mark.
How come this shit never happens in the US?
It does happen in the US
Cause US citizens just sit there and take it. To us, a man being shot to death in a police shooting, the media makes it seem like he had something to do with shooting back at the police. Or just generally something worthy of being shot at. If not, it never hits the news. In the case of a guy like this, they probably wouldn't let it get much notoriety.
Hang on a police officer defended himself and now people want to put the city on fire? Bravo! Excellent logic.

Ummmmm, its called marches. I mean we just had one from teachers and parents. We don't do it in public anymore, we use the internet now. Its also been drilled into our head that peaceful protest is the best way to go so most people just march they don't riot.
Hey most the police use the police issue firearm or can you own a different type but the same caliber?
aren't you one of the racists from yesterday?
riots never work?
Usually they don't. A lot of them don't even seem to have a purpose other than "I'm angry / happy and I'm going to take it out on the city by burning / raiding vehicles / stores."
Even the 1992 LA Riots, which were over the beating of 1 man, killed 53 people, caused a billion dollars and damage, and only ended when the US Military showed up Armed and told everyone it was time to go home.
Sure, there was an investigation into the incident afterward, but the rioting did much more harm than good.
At least this is better than in LA where stupid Lakers fans riot if their team wins OR loses.
Man I really want to be in a huge riot at least once in my life
What's fucking next?
[editline]7th August 2011[/editline]
LETS GET OUR NUCLEAR REACTORS BACK IN GERMANY.
Just read about this. Im on the side of the police, because the bullet fired at the Officer who was saved by the radio made the Police believe he was a threat, and obviously they returned fire instinctively. Its also stupid how the family was up in arms and went to the effort of starting a riot because a complete idiot got what was coming to him.
This was annoying. I couldn't sleep last night because of the police cars and the helicopters that hover around the riots.
If the guy shot at the police first then I don't feel sorry for this guy at all and I don't see why anyone else would. Oh wait I know why they do because they are complete scumbags. You throw away all your rights if you open fire on police officers. Stupid people rioting.
Tottenham isnt that far from here.
You'll think it'll never happen close to you.
