When it starts in Preston i will become more worried
The police can't do anything but run.
Not used in England. There's a massive fire in enfield, it's a sony warehouse. http://www.steven-kelly.co.uk/photography-blog/london-riots-huge-fire-in-enfield-direction The government are not going to take this seriously until someone is killed.
Video of the fire: http://yfrog.com/mdi5gz
Coward fucking cops, stop it don't be afraid of the racist card for fuck sake.
No tear gas either, the UK does not have riot control equipment that seems to be standard everywhere else in the world. A little bit of tear gas would have dispersed the crowds hours ago.
UK Police are equipped with CS gas, which is a form of tear gas, so I'm not sure where you're getting that from. Also, if water cannons can be used in Northern Ireland then I don't see a legal reason why they can't be used on the mainland - it's most likely more of a case that we don't have any except in Ireland. I also doubt that the Army will be called in. More likely is the government bringing in Police Support Units (aka specialist riot police) from the various police forces around the country to get more feet on the ground, and it's not unreasonable that they may loan water cannons from the police in Northern Ireland.
Wonder if/when this'll head over the border
That is an amazing idea, combined that with that noise only people under the age of 25 can hear and problem solved instantly.
No, not out of one of those at this time...Honestly, even being near one for a few seconds kills my head because of people using them near us.
I doubt it, the American people seem more reserved. Britain just seems to be full of these "do what you like" kind of people.
uh no we're like the exact opposite 99% of the time
And Manchester too now it looks like.
Oh for fuck sakes. The Apple Store could be ransacked.
Coward fucking cops, stop it don't be afraid of the racist card for fuck sake.
what is it with Swedish people coming into this thread, and assuming this has anything to do with race
That's pretty funny. I assume the police have protection from it?
It's a focused beam of sounds so if you're standing behind it it's not going to be very loud. They can use it as a loud speaker and talk through it or just project a variety of annoying sounds at rioters.
A LOT has changed since then. Don't even try and suggest otherwise. The British army is trained in crowd and riot control without the use of weapons. In other words. Doing the exact same thing that the riot police are doing right now. Send in a thousand soldiers, and this whole thing would settle down quite quickly. Where they'd get the equipment for that with the cuts is another issue
So am I really the only one that sees something Wrong with sending any army onto their own streets, for any reason? It would be the first small step down a road just as dark as these riots.
Coward fucking cops, stop it don't be afraid of the racist card for fuck sake.
You have no idea how many times I've thought this in relation to mass mob illegal actions here as well.
Oh for fuck sakes. The Apple Store could be ransacked.
really? brb flying to manchester

We don't need the army to actually do anything. Just showing up would be enough to scare the shit out of the majority of them.
No, next is Northern Ireland, then Iceland.
Then it will blow across the Atlantic and attack the US and Canada causing major riots.
what is it with Swedish people coming into this thread, and assuming this has anything to do with race
Well majority is immigrants as you can see, shouldn't they be doing something better? Like integrating with the society? Not looting and burning it up?
Women's Hospital in Liverpool. I'm leaving my dad's tomorrow and going back to Preston, let's hope the silly dicks leave it alone >.>
what is it with Swedish people coming into this thread, and assuming this has anything to do with race
Not all of us are like this.
UK Police are equipped with CS gas, which is a form of tear gas, so I'm not sure where you're getting that from. If it is used then the question of why it hasn't been used yet has got to be asked. As for water canons, the question gets asked constantly and it seems there is no legal reason just the fact that there is no need for them so they haven't purchased them. If this goes on for a long time I could see some being borrowed from NI. As for the second bit, I think this is the most likely option. They are getting support from 4 police forces at the moment as it is.
Wow, huge block of buildings on BBC news.
So am I really the only one that sees something Wrong with sending any army onto their own streets, for any reason? It would be the first small step down a road just as dark as these riots.
The argument for it in this case is that the British Army has a long history and lots of experience with riot control, due to the 40 years of The Troubles (my dad was over there in the 70's with the Royal Engineers), and they could help provide manpower. On the other hand the government, quite rightly, will regard the use of military force as a last resort.
Not if they have ear muffs.
It's a lot louder in real life. Unless you have some really expensive noise canceling earphones it's not going to dampen it out enough.
They should send in the cavalry :v: (Would be awesome to watch)
That's pretty funny. I assume the police have protection from it?
They're behind it. If you notice, it really only has an effect at the people that it's pointing at directly. You can see in the video when the truck gets close to the guy with the camera, the cop points it at him and you can hear it get a whole lot louder, then he runs away.
uh no we're like the exact opposite 99% of the time
Sure it never happens on this scale often, but there are plenty of ass hats who do shit like this, although hit always seems to happen when the conservatives are in power.
So am I really the only one that sees something Wrong with sending any army onto their own streets, for any reason? It would be the first small step down a road just as dark as these riots.
Seems so. The army's first priority is to protect the people of this country. End of. If that means going in to support police officers to quell a riot, so be it. Sending in armed soldiers would be a totally different situation, obviously. If that were the case, I could see your point. We would be no better than Syria on Libya. But that's not going to happen. Even still. It's highly unlikely that any forces will be sent in. I'd be surprised if we have the capability to even do so
Coward fucking cops, stop it don't be afraid of the racist card for fuck sake.
If they do anything a lot of people will actually be angry at them for using force and they may even get fired. It can also cause more violence and deaths.
Well majority is immigrants as you can see, shouldn't they be doing something better? Like integrating with the society? Not looting and burning it up?
no it isn't, you're in Sweden, clearly Sweden has some resentment of immigrants, but this is a lot of white British Nationals, a lot of black British Nationals, and a lot of asian British Nationals. Yes there may be some immigrants, but this isn't about immigration, this is about angry British people smashing shit up and stealing.
