Turkish men armed with baseball bats are guarding businesses on Stoke Newington High Street
Anyone in Nottinghamshire thinking this will spread over?
The Guardian journalist that was just on the BBC is now on his way to Ealing, 40 min drive apparently.
0240: Scotland Yard has said it is considering using more armoured police vehicles against rioters after they were used to push back more than 150 people in the Lavender Hill area of Clapham where shops and business were attacked.
Maybe there are other options

It will take him 20, the guy has been incredible these couple of days.
On the phone to a friend of mine, they live in Brixton and they've had a brick through their window and a car outside got smashed and set on fire

I don't see how that would make much of a difference, unless they are planning to use the vehicles as moving blockades.

Send in the armored fire trucks... oh wait.
What's the legality of shop owners defending their property? Will the police turn a blind eye?
Manchester rioting?
Gentlemen, It was an Honour Posting with you tonight

Would make sense.

I just looked him up, he seems to be good at reporting protests. He got "famous" for his coverage of the death at the G20 protest.
What's the legality of shop owners defending their property? Will the police turn a blind eye?
The police told them what you are doing is highly illegal
What's the legality of shop owners defending their property? Will the police turn a blind eye?
Legally its not legal at all, but I somewhat doubt the police would stop them.
What's the legality of shop owners defending their property? Will the police turn a blind eye?
If shop owners tried to defend themselves, they'd probably get sued in court by the attacker.

And the looters would win...

Sky are showing the latest clips from Ealing, seems pretty quiet.
...and that's how fucked up our country is.
What's the legality of shop owners defending their property? Will the police turn a blind eye?
They'd better.
What's the legality of shop owners defending their property? Will the police turn a blind eye?
It's in a defensive manner so while it's not legal they wouldn't get much time against people that were attempting to break in and smash everything
What's the legality of shop owners defending their property? Will the police turn a blind eye?
There's a famous case from 10 or so years ago where a famer shot a burglar. He originally got life sentence.
Our self defence laws suck balls
This whole thing is just stupid, and gets under my skin. No need for this rioting to happen.

That's absolutely disgusting, at least up here in Canada we can still get away with beating looters even if we can't shoot them.
If shop owners tried to defend themselves, they'd probably get sued in court by the attacker.
I was saying to my family earlier that these rioters are so outrageous that they'll probably end up suing shops because they cut their hands while breaking in.
if riots kick off here the first thing i'm doing is going down costcutter for every single pack of cigs there
There's a famous case from 10 or so years ago where a famer shot a burglar. He originally got life sentence.
Reason for that was because he fired when the burglars were already running. Unless you mean the OTHER case where a farmer shot a burglar. Though both originally started with life sentences.
Also, fuck these riots.

That doesn't have anything to do with anything at all related to anything to do with this
There's a famous case from 10 or so years ago where a famer shot a burglar. He originally got life sentence.
Because the guy was running away - that was why he got charged with murder. But that's neither here nor there for the moment. What happened to that supposed shooting in Croydon?
EDIT: Okay, it's on the sidebar now.
