The Guardian understands that initial ballistics tests on a bullet, found lodged in a police radio worn by an officer during Thursday's incident, suggested it was police issue – and therefore had not been fired by Duggan.
The latest developments come as one community organiser suggested the handgun recovered was found in a sock and therefore not ready for use.

It doesn't fucking matter, the riot isn't about that.
Any updates on the COBRA meeting?
At risk of making myself sound stupid again, I think the proper way to handle it would be instating curfew. Anyone out past say 10:00 unless they are on their way home needs to be inside for the night, with constant police patrol. If you are caught out after curfew you can be detained. Also, to settle the riots I would give them back their benefits for the time being and Propose a new Job Plan for the unemployed. the proposed job plan could be bogus but just give them something to calm them down.
Good news everybody! The sociopath brigade is here to fix everything!
Yeah, we've been depriving the lower classes from any hope of getting a decent job for 3 decades now, oh what, they started a riot? LETS TAKE MORE OF THEIR RIGHTS AWAY THAT'LL TEACH THOSE BASTARDS.
We haven't deprived them of good jobs. They have themselves.
Is any employer really going to take a lad in trackkies and a hoodie with 4 C's in GCSEs seriously? If they worked hard in school and turned up to a job interview in smart casual or a suit, then they would have a good chance at getting a job.
WAIT WAIT. Riots have started in Liverpool? Damn.

This riot isn't about benefits, they were never taken away.
These people are rioting because they want to cause destruction and loot everything they can, because they are a worthless wankstain on society.
I wish I could be in London right now to help clean up the mess. This is disgraceful and my faith in humanity has lowered quite a bit.
These uneducated dimwits don't know anything about governmental abuse, all they know is "police are dikheds, ennit" and that's the logic that most of them run on.
YES, they are breaking shit for fun and setting buildings on fire. Once you've been affiliated with those type of people you learn about them pretty quick, trust me, they aren't rioting for any cause.
You don't know what you're on about.
You make a really good point, they're not really human are they.
Perhaps the best thing to do would be to round the whole lot of them up and put them with their own kind, maybe in some kind of big camps?

"hi thanks for ransacking shops, mugging people and setting houses on fire. here is nice job 4 u and friends :downs:"
No mate, that wouldn't solve anything. Every action has a consequence.
Any updates on the COBRA meeting?
It ended ages ago, Cameron recalled Parliament for a chat on Thursday and there are 16,000 police officers out tonight compared to 6,000 last night

You're posting from Israel so I assume you don't know how things work here.
People are given £100 a week to stay alive and are not required to work. Anyone from any walks of life can embark in some form of education, even if it was just using the town/cities FREE library or enrolling on an apprenticeship or going to community college.
Business and Enterprise have risen from absolutely nothing, just look at Alan Sugar who came from Hackey (one of the major sites of the riots) and in terms of funding, there is a lot of keen investors just waiting to jump on board just about anything you can imagine if you look in the right places (you don't even need the contacts) or you could just learn to do pretty much everything yourself.
You can only create and utilize opportunity yourself, you can't expect others to do that for you.

How has noone posted this yet.
All the police need is some teargas and better materials and they could do fine.
Watching the videos, they cant do jack shit.
All the police need is some teargas and better materials and they could do fine.
Tear gas isn't allowed in Britain. We've been over this.
This isn't some chavs breaking shit for fun, sure there are some who do it, but it's not JUST that.
If you lived in London you'd understand that it is exactly that.

And that's it is it? If you fail your GCSEs, you are no longer a useful member of society and should be left to die?

I`m talking about short term to calm them the fuck down, and curfew would be punishment and also reduce crime rate in the slums they live in. Priority number one is stopping the riots to protect the citizens. What`s your suggestion. Let them burn London to the ground, hurt more people, then give them all an extreme punishment. At that point you`d have a full on revolution.

Exactly. They were bad enough sitting on park benches and ruining the civilized atmosphere, now they go and do this.

All we need to do is intensify the police enforcement, arrest them for their crimes and it's sorted. This isn't a revolution, it's just some yobs robbing people. Have you ever lived in the UK, do you understand how it works over here?

You're missing the point entirely. If they aren't willing to put effort into their education, but rather sabotage is for other people who were willing to learn (me & many others) then they don't deserve anything.
You didn't get riots like this in London when Pluto was still a planet *shakes head*
Ugh, watching the news made me want to kill some of them.
Especially Theresa May.
Why can't they just bring in the Army?

They give funding based on grades, the lack of jobs means kids have to do criminal activities in order to help support their families, they miss school to get the green (or pink I guess, you guys and your silly money) Grades drop, education funding drops, poor education means lesser chance of getting a job in the already declining job market, uneducated people fucking making families, children missing school, less funding. Good education is what these kids need.

I don't know if anybody else posted this but:

THIS, is disgusting.
I wonder if there'll anywhere near the level rioting tonight that we had last night. On the one hand, people might have cottoned on the fact there's a shitload more coppers out tonight. On the other hand, they might be looking at the gear people have nicked and decide to go help themselves, and the people doing the rioting probably aren't the type to read the news.

Out of a vague horrific interest, what would you say contributes most to the fact that they don't want to learn?
