OP needs to be updated with current events taking place.
My point is that no matter what you do they're likely to claim that it's "KEEPIN' THE LITTLE MAN DOWN WITH POLICE OPPRESSION" and riot, making the argument that it'll cause them to riot completely moot.
So what? They're rioting now without any reason at all.
OP needs to be updated with current events taking place.
The thread title also needs adjusting to something more general like "2011 UK Riots Thread" or something.
All the people posting about fighting back against rioters makes me think.
I know I'm a bit of a lurker but I still feel I have to warn you guys, just don't take pot shots at rioters if they are in your area. Defend your property and your neighbours, sure, but any direct aggression, especially with weapons like air rifles, will get you worse charges than them. However, if rioters make for your houses or whatever, well hell I'd rather be criminally charged for assault than dead or my family in danger or my house burned down/looted, and considering the circumstances you would get a more lenient charge.
It's a little worrying, though, that some groups have a lot of anger and wish to take action against the rioters themselves. The last thing the people or the police need tonight is a street war or people getting killed because they attacked the groups causing the unrest.
Rumours coming in of a Watford costco hit (I work in Watford, one of the girls who works here mum rang up telling her people have been sent home from work).
I've also been getting BBM's about them potentially coming further out of the london area, and hitting places near me like Loughton, Chingford and Woodford. Probably bullshit but wouldnt surprise me if looters thought they'd take advantage of the fact the police are flooding into inner London, not to mention those areas I mentioned above, did have some minor attention last night (double decker smashed up, police everywhere, people getting nicked in front of my very eyes, and these areas are no where near as 'bad' or 'dodgy' as the areas that have already been hit).
Also been getting messages about literally grouping up and staying put it in our towns, and if anyone of them c*nts decides to set foot inside, they'll have trouble. Im not stupid enough to do this myself, but Im not gonna hide I like the idea behind it.
I'd like to make a disclaimer that I posted that petition for anyone interested.
So don't attack me as I have not expressed my opinion of it.
Sony U.K. Warehouse Set Ablaze as Violence From London Riots Escalates
Sony Corp. (6758) said a warehouse containing Blu-ray discs, CDs and DVDs was damaged in a fire following the riots in London.
The fire, which started about 11:30 p.m. yesterday, took 11 fire engines to contain and was described by the Metropolitan Police as “suspicious.” The warehouse in Enfield, north London, is still smoldering, and the company is not yet able to assess damage, Sony said in a statement from its U.K. offices. No employees were injured, the company said.
“We’re not entirely able to assess the stock levels because we’re not on site,” said spokeswoman Claire Millington in a telephone interview. “We will do anything we can to minimize delay to our customers,” she said.
Riot police and firefighters were deployed yesterday as the riots, triggered after a Tottenham man was shot and killed by police, continued for a third night. More than 450 people have been arrested in connection with the London unrest, according to authorities. Disturbances occurred in Hackney in east London, and Lewisham, Peckham and Croydon in the southeast and south of the city.
The warehouse only stored discs and didn’t contain game consoles or televisions, Yoko Yasukochi, a Tokyo-based Sony spokeswoman said, declining to elaborate on the number of discs that may have been damaged in the fire. She also declined to say whether the facility is covered for damages by insurance.
Sony fell 1.1 percent to 1,739 yen at the 3 p.m. close in Tokyo after earlier dropping as much as 5.1 percent. The benchmark Nikkei 225 Stock Average fell 1.7 percent today.
Fucking rioters.
The rioters are, from the looks of this, chavs and inbreds.
I pray that if any facepuncher is threatened by one of these idiots, they take to their senses and arm themselves.
^^
That has already been reported, but thanks for caring to share though

My brother in law had to end working earlier, he works in Balham, riots are gonna start there.
Panic over

I got plenty of knives, axes and a nice bottle of white spirit.
I might be late here, but I just saw this and I haven't seen it mentioned/posted here yet:

Get someone in the UK to inform the police, someone was arrested earlier today for "inciting a riot" for posting a message on Facebook.
Why did David Cameron come back? It really isn't like he'd solve anything.
Put boris on the streets in a bullet proof vest and a helmet to try and talk to the rioters and hand out whiff whaff bats.

He should lead the charge against the rioters on his bike

A show of face, he is seen to be doing something rather than being on holiday. Plus, do we really want to leave Nick Clegg in charge?

It would be political suicide to stay on holiday during this
Kicking off in salford apparently:

carcarcargo is the plan still on
i'll meet you in 5 minutes with the bats outside the pyramids
BURGER KING SHALL BE MINE
I notice some talking about the incidents trying to explain it with how the government isn't doing enough for everyone, but when asked to come up with a solution they just spurt the regular
"oh but it's a very complex situation, everything needs to be cheaper and they need to find some hobbies so we have to help them"
These kids are just fucking failures. It's not a "complex problem", it's a horde of kids living in a culture that dismisses morality and decency.

Did they have their whole force on standby, then send them all to the first incident they heard about?
It would be political suicide to stay on holiday during this
Yeah I know but if I was tied up in this the last face i'd like to see was David Camerons smug face :v:.

Actually that's just a normal day in Salford.

The Beeb said a shop in Salford got raided by a gang at 15:30 today, I'm guessing that's why there's such a heavy police presence.

Hopefully it won't spread to Colchester - not the smartest idea to riot in a garrison town really.
