cheshire, about 2 inches
you would think that this would be a good reason for people to use their range rovers, but nope, most of them are still somehow stuck on their driveways unable to move
Why has there been so much snow lately?
Japan, the US midwest, europe...
Surprisingly loads of it in the East Midlands. Hopefully it'll stay cold overnight and won't melt, then I won't have to go to sixth form tomorrow. (They're so scared of getting sued they'll close the place even if there's about 1mm of snow).
Yep, it's closed.

But seriously, it's just siberian winter.
And i'm here in north missouri, USA and we had 3 inches of snow over the course of the entire winter, it snowed more in october. It's currently sunny at 75F.

Are you saying that's a good or bad thing?
I wish it snowed here. :(

Can anyone explain to me why 2" of snow is such a major deal there? Are you folks simply not equipped to deal with it?
For those of us in the Northeast USA, I'm sure all of you can recall the snowstorm last year that dumped 26 inches on us. Gamestop had us open the store at normal business hours the following day :suicide:

We're not equipped for it. It's only recently that snow has become an annual occurrence for us. It used to happen maybe every 2-3 years.

That makes sense then; We had a small army cleaning up after our last blizzard.
Hope things get cleaned up quick!
It's not that weird considering you are driving on the wrong side of the road.

Normally it melts on its own fairly quickly because hot air blows over from somewhere (parliament)

guess you guys need a waiting period on snow then
Britain should follow the advice Top Gear gave, make snowplows of all the harvesters.

Nottingham here too. Kind of. I live about 20 minutes away from the city centre, which is closer than I am to Derby's but technically I'm still in Derbyshire.
I built an igloo.
when it snows i wait for that black snow to come and i make a niglu
This shit happens every year and yet we never do anything about it. The Ruskies and Scandinavians seem to manage fine, and they get shit tonnes more snow than us, how do you guys do it?
There was talk of hiring or buying some of the snow ploughs used in these icy places, but of course doing that would make sense so that's never going to be more than a pipe dream. Pretty much the only argument against them is the cost, which is a bit strange, given how much revenue is lost when businesses can't operate for days at a time.
Oh PS. Devon's completely snow free, just really bloody cold.
or you guys could invest in a set of winter tyres each, does wonders...
Of all the things to close why can't my school be one of them.
Not too bad where I live. Here in Peterlee it was snowing all day yesterday but it was very light sadly. Plus it was windy as fuck so I couldn't go out in it with my sister.

You see, there is thing called "Seasons". Right now and for the next two more months we in the northern hemisphere are going through the season called "Winter" where temperatures are the coldest.
How does this even happen:

Not the fact that there is snow, I was talking about the abnormal amounts of snow.
Nobody cares when it snows up here in the North of England. But when it goes down to the south, oh boy you can't stop hearing about it.

Don't tell me you're some of that Ilkeston or Ripley scum.
