That much I can actually agree with, just not the extent. I'm definitely of the opinion that "he who governs best governs least". I would like to see a lot of the federal government cut back - the DHS has grown way, way too large, and the IRS needs trimming, for starters.
What I really disagree with are his other policies. A freeze on immigration is probably the worst idea ever. I've already detailed exactly why his economic ideas would trash the economy in minutes. Public education, while in need of some reform (mainly to stop the Jesus-freaks), is definitely a necessity.
Don't forget the ATF. They overlap the FBI so much that their field commanders get into fights over who has jurisdiction at a scene...

I don't see why the ATF needs to exist as a separate entity, it's so arbitrary.

Why does he look so cuddly?
Well, anyways it really doesn't seem Assange has released anything recently that has REALLY put people's lives in danger(I know the war diaries are a bit of a subject of debate, but when it comes to diplomatic ties, cant we just be friends?)

John Sullivan, lol. I personally know Congressman Sullivan, but I'm guessing you two aren't one in the same right?

Nope, just my name. I'm nowhere near or desiring to go into a big government position.
Ugh. Don't believe your virus scanner every time it says something has a virus unless you're downloading a file called boobs.jpg.exe. Common sense; a .pdf is a very unlikely place to hide a virus, especially in an otherwise clean site.
He has some really insane ideas, and some really good ones.

Actually, PDFs are full of security holes
Ron Paul is only conservative in his economics- he's a libertarian, and holds that in economics we should return to the ideas put in place by the founders of 'trading with all, allying with none'- something I see as a good thing in contrast with our huge reach today. I don't agree with his economic theories, but being quite the leftist libertarian I am myself, I have to say that support Ron Paul because of his outlook on the media, the government, rights, and liberties.
I'm glad that there's a politician who has some standing who is willing to defend Assange.
Except when people are doing something he doesn't like (abortion, gay marriage etc.)

and then there's the hole "if you're poor fuck you".
I'm not sure why everyone is calling him racist. I've met Paul many times and my parents are good friends with his son. None of his family have ever seemed the slightly bit racist when I've met with them.

look at how well he is interacting with that white man
I get your point.

Actually, PDFs have lately had more exploits than IE - which says a lot. Especially since you can have embedded JavaScript and embedded Flash, for even more security holes.
They aren't. One idiot suggested it.
You mean the one who has significant support from every part of the Republican party and now his own show on the one and only conservative network?
I've always liked Ron Paul, he was never ever going to win but I wouldn't have minded if he did.
I don't understand why people keep saying Ron Paul is an isolationist. He's a non-interventionist.

I still wouldn't vote for him though :S
[editline]4th December 2010[/editline]
Nonintervention is one step removed from isolationism, the latter featuring economic nationalism (protectionism) and restrictive immigration. Proponents of non-interventionism distinguish their polices from isolationism through their advocacy of more open national relations, to include diplomacy and free trade.

These things would still exist. He's a libertarian, not an anarchist. Being a libertarian he also supports the right to have an abortion, and the right of private schools to teach whatever they want. I'm not sure on his position on public schools. He makes a point not to involve his own personal beliefs into his politics, short of everyone has liberty to believe and do as they wish, and government has no part in messing with that.
I'm not sure why everyone has become so anti-Ron Paul. There was a very large internet fan base several years ago for him in this community and others.
He would most likely be against "government schools" (as he would most likely call them). It is not in the constitution that it is the government's job to provide education. He would most likely attempt to cut as much funding as possible.
Libertarians often tend to be strict constitutionalists.
Aside from that, I like some of his ideas.
this is why I like Ron Paul despite his more socially conservative ideas.
I'm not sure why everyone is calling him racist.
Because he wants to roll back civil rights legislation to before Martin Luther King. About all you can say for him is that he doesn't support slavery.
What will that mean? That it's legal to discriminate because of race etc.?

Wrong on the abortion thing.
He introduced the Sanctity of Life Act, that would define life as starting at conception. (and therefore making abortions classifiable as murder)
What will that mean? That it's legal to discriminate because of race etc.?
Pretty much, yeah. He wants to repeal the Civil Rights Act.
Because he wants to roll back civil rights legislation to before Martin Luther King. About all you can say for him is that he doesn't support slavery.
Not completely true. He doesn't support government discrimination but he does not support legislation preventing companies from doing so

So you would rather us use worthless green paper instead. Why do you have a problem with the gold standard, and what could possibly be a better idea?
Also, +respect to Ron Paul for standing up for Mr. Assange.

As I already stated, there is not enough gold for the world's economy. Hell, there isn't enough for the US. Either the value of gold would have to octuple from it's already-inflated value (with corresponding inflation for the many industrial uses of gold), or the economy would have to shrink 90%.
The current system of currency actually works. You don't need to replace it. It's higher-up in the economy that things are messed-up (microtrading, credit swaps, etc.). Hell, we're getting close to a post-scarcity economy in some parts of the world. We might be there by the time I'm dead.
