Steam Machine page on store just went live http://store.steampowered.com/sale/steam_machines
Am I missing the point somewhere? Why would you dump $4,999 on that Falcon or Origin machine?
I suppose it's for people with a lot of money who want an easy way to get into PC gaming without having to build their own pc. They really aren't made for us, I don't think.
Also most, if not all the Steam Machines are upgradeable. So that's nice.
It's a weird nitpick, but I wish they'd chosen something less Xbox-y for the controller's face buttons. Or at least different colours.
Let's think for a minute, a console costs around 400-500 USD. Games cost 60$ Imagine you don't play too much and only buy one game a month, that's still well over 4k$ in a console lifetime. I have 100 games in steam and I spent less than $300 on them. My PC costed me $1500.

Don't be a fool. Unless you are Richie Rich you aren't going to be buying nothing but brand new $60 games as an average consumer.

Actually a lot of PS4 users hate indies, just because they are indies.
That Asus one is cool.
Yeah, I'm torn between the Asus one and this one [img_thumb]http://cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/353420/ss_bf60a35507c5879184b9ba3b00920ea883e5ed3b.1920x1080.jpg?t=1425578141[/img_thumb]

Steam Machines have to bank on the success that average consumers will want them. If they are trying to appeal to people that are super into Steam sales, they will fail really hard. Also where do you get the idea that PS4 users hate indie games because they just are?

Showing graphics off with a moba is the stupidest thing ever
At least in my country people hate the PS4 because PS4 has a lot of them and PS4 owners hate indies because PS4 has a lot of them.
I've never heard of people hating the PS4/Indie games simply because they exist on the platform. Weird.
Showing graphics off with a moba is the stupidest thing ever
But to be fair, it is quite big and it's still growing day by day by immense speed.
Showing graphics off with a moba is the stupidest thing ever
they aren't showing off graphics, they're showing that it can run on intel integrated graphics at 60 fps using Vulkan
Showing graphics off with a moba is the stupidest thing ever
Yeah but it's running on intel integrated graphics which is impressive. I do wish they had shown off something else running in Source 2, but it'll come. Eventually.
But to be fair, it is quite big and it's still growing day by day by immense speed.
I don't hate dota 2 or mobas, its just that you can't see shit its like showing off graphics with a rts game
Showing graphics off with a moba is the stupidest thing ever
1. They didn't try to show off graphics, if you want to show the graphical limits of your engine, you've got to create new assets. A better engine doesn't magically shower your games in high poly models, huge textures and pretty shaders. 2. While graphical demonstrations make for great promo material, engines aren't all about graphics at all. For example, what we know about Source 2 features so far is 64-bit support, enhanced mod tools and easier compatibility with (Steam Workshop-)UCG especially when it comes to maps/game modes and particle effects, which was a pain to get properly integrated under Source 1.
Showing graphics off with a moba is the stupidest thing ever
They're showing off performance, not graphics
they aren't showing off graphics, they're showing that it can run on intel integrated graphics at 60 fps using Vulkan
The fact that it is running 60fps and that well on an integrated graphics is pretty god damn impressive.
And it's exactly what I need. I can't get some certain games to run at decent and/or stable framerate on lowest settings, and I really want to play those games. [editline]5th March 2015[/editline] Universe page updated! http://store.steampowered.com/universe
For some reason I think arcades are going to make a comeback. VR-arcades.
I dont get it ,in future you could actually buy hardware from the steam store?
[The Vive Dev Kit] will be available this spring, followed by consumer edition hardware later in 2015.
For SteamVR/Vive. The developer edition is (supposedly) coming out Spring 2015, and consumer coming out later this year. Holy what.
For SteamVR. The developer edition is (supposedly) coming out Spring 2015, and consumer coming out later this year. Holy what.
Will buy. Am stoked.
I hope the consumer version will have 4k panels. Would be awesome.
I hope the consumer version will have 4k panels. Would be awesome.
you need to consider how hard it is to push 4k 90hz at any reasonable visual fidelity. [editline]5th March 2015[/editline] i am happy about the 2400x1080 thing because my current desktop monitor is 2560x1080. i have a pretty good measure on how games will perform with it
