Maximum PC did a 10 minute interview with Gabe about Source 2 and Steam Machines:

I didn't even realize until that interview with Gabe that the Steam Link can stream from other steam machines.
It's so incredibly obvious now that I think about it, but it's still awesome. It even makes sense for console gamers that may buy a fully decked out steam machine who happen to have 2 entertainment areas (like bedroom vs living room). So instead of disconnecting the full console, just put the link in the living room.
Hell, my friends even had set ups like that when we were younger, in which we would end up moving systems around between rooms, even with PC towers in some cases.

The whole point of the Steam Link is to just have it be connected in the living room, and whenever you want to play a more console/10-foot oriented game, you go to the living room, pick up the controller, and start playing. Simple and easy and since the streaming happens in your own living room and doesn't actually have to leave the LAN, the streaming speed can be almost as fast as the LAN allows.
Almost.

Right, which is why it makes sense and was pretty obvious.
I just somehow overlooked the fact that it wasn't limited to streaming just from desktop pc's, allowing even those who wished to use the steam machines to make total use of the streaming service.
Hell, this would even work backwards to their own laptops/desktops if they are inferior then their console.
I now totally understand their aim; this isn't about trying to just bring desktop users to the living room, this can bring those from the living room to the desktop.

Had a weird ass dream last night that Gabe Newell later on this month had an Heart Attack... Hopefully that doesn't happen this month.

So you dream of gaben.
They've released a game every year 1998-2013, but not 2014
What about SFM, could that possibly be considered an alternative to a game

You mean when Valve releases Half-Life 3?
Not gonna lie, this thread makes me miss the Portal 2 hype. The only product that's ever made me care about an ARG. Twice.

the good news is that gabe has gotten much healthier than he has been in the past, and has lost a lot of weight. i don't expect a simple heart attack to kill him, more like an army of tanks.

looks exactly the same as source 1

It was a demo of VR, not Source 2. They're not going to put a lot of effort into showing the full effects of Source 2 when the focus is the Vive.
