So it seems that all people need nowadays for entertainment are pretty colours and a cliché plot.
NEW HIGH SCORE I could imagine James Cameron just jumping and smiling. Laughing as he cheers out the window. Then he fucks the shit out of Sigourney Weaver.
:patriot:
This actually doesn't make sense, as James Cameron is Canadian ;)
I guess officially it has passed Titanic.. But if you take in all the factors such as the 3D ticket prices being more and the currency what it was worth when Titantic was out, I think Titanic still comes out on top.
Basing your work on actual history is now a ripoff? lolright
Pocahontas isn't history though. Absolutely none of that shit happened.
The youth of today don't understand those films. To get people to watch a movie today you need; 1. Super awesome 10 billion dollar special effects 2. Sex 3. At least one scene where there are explosions all over the place and you can't understand what the hell is going on. And bam, you have a modern day blockbuster movie. No matter how bad the story or action is, as long as there are explosions and sex people will watch it. I miss the days when movies weren't like this.
I am the youth of today
still haven't seen it.
And now not only because it is a good film, but a successful one too, people now feel it necessary to inexplicably despise this movie. Especially if it wins a bunch of Oscars. Then it will become even more terrible and overrated and dumb. "I mean why would anyone like this film in the first place, it hasn't even got a story it's just a bunch of blue people running around and hurp durp :smug:"
I'm surprised its done so well considering the blatant anti american messages in there combined with the fact it had a terrible story
It is stupid anyone is excited over this, the only reason Titanic would ever be beat is because inflation has made the ticket prices ALOT higher thus greater profit. Titanic would be miles ahead of Avatar if they adjusted Titanic's sales to the same price Avatar is at.
From article:
Not to take away from what "Avatar" has accomplished, but the record doesn't account for inflation or the higher ticket prices for 3D and IMAX theaters.
Yeah there was this other movie that would've made 6 billion these days if you take in account inflation

It wasn't even THAT good. The effects were obviously amazing but the story is ripped right out of Disneys pocahuntis...
Pocahontas isn't history though. Absolutely none of that shit happened.
Ahem... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pocahontas And the disney movie IS based on that.
Disturbing on many, many levels.

They just need something new to hate for no real reason I guess.
I think we all knew it was going to get there.
There is better films though.
:golfclap:
I personally preferred District 9.
yeah except when you take inflation into account it's not even in the top five
What politics? "Genocide is bad?" "People are mean?"
Try "Protect nature from the eeeeeeeeevil corporations." And that's not counting the "shock-and-awe" and "fight terror with terror" lines that made no real sense in context and were obviously shots at America's campaign in the Middle East. There's also some very imperialist themes of noble savages needing a "civilized" man to lead them and show them the way, but that's probably a result of Cameron's own ignorance and lack of literary sophistication than any real intent.
Yeah, funny isn't it? They just need something new to hate for no real reason I guess.
Following the crowd is for losers. Down with Thatcher! I mean Cameron!
They should convert the currency of Titanic. Back in those days, little amounts of money were worth something and now these days, its worth shit. So Titanic is still in the lead in my books
Back in the 90s.
"they have not let an avatar in their camp in over 6 years" "hi guys, i'm a human warrior" "a human warrior? we have never seen one before come right in. we must show you our ways"
It cost $280 million to make, of course it's going to be a hit. Even if it is just okay.
Pocahontas isn't history though. Absolutely none of that shit happened.
She was a real person, I believe she was brought back to somewhere in Norfolk.
Ahem... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pocahontas And the disney movie IS based on that.
I know that. I mean the Disney version changes the story so much that it is no longer historical in anything but name.
There is better films though.
This is just the bandwagon (perhaps even a form of a placebo) effect taking place.
