Just remember I hated it from the start.
The only reason those old films didn't have explosions and sex is because you didn't have CGI back then, and you couldn't show sex in movies.
sex is not a new thing in movies
I liked the movie.
Try "Protect nature from the eeeeeeeeevil corporations."
And that's not counting the "shock-and-awe" and "fight terror with terror" lines that made no real sense in context and were obviously shots at America's campaign in the Middle East.
There's also some very imperialist themes of noble savages needing a "civilized" man to lead them and show them the way, but that's probably a result of Cameron's own ignorance and lack of literary sophistication than any real intent.
I notice their also references to the Vietnam War in Avatar.
Oh my fucking god, 4 weeks ago when this movie came out everyone on face punch was saying how awesome of a movie this was, you people are worse than the judges in the muppets.
James Cameron is just going to make another film that'll gross twice as much. It's James Cameron after all.
The more I think about Avatar, the more I dislike it.

He's good at what he does.
How can something so mediocre make so much money?
got to love the hype machine.

That's because Facepunch is filled with either sheep or "lolrebelz".

Well that's just like... Your opinion, man.

True, fuck facepunch's opinion.
it's incredible that cameron has #1 and 2
They should convert the currency of Titanic. Back in those days, little amounts of money were worth something and now these days, its worth shit. So Titanic is still in the lead in my books
Yeah, I think with Titanic adjusted for inflation its 2.2 billion or something to that effect. So until then, Avatar is still second place
Avatar is a fantastic movie. Shut up haters.
God, I couldn't stop making penis jokes after the movie. That was the impression that lasted the longest.
It was okay.
I frankly don't really see what the fuss is all about. It's not superb, but it wasn't terrible. It just felt incredibly hackneyed, for lack of a better word. The political undertones kind of turned me off after a while, mostly because of James Cameron's incredibly flat view on morality. Really, if I wanted to see a movie with just special effects, I'd watch Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
At least that had robots kicking the crap out of each other for a good two and a half hours.
That's a lot of money.
Movie sucked, and it's probably gonna win best picture too; while district 9, a munch better movie, will get completely snubed.

Why the fuck did that typo make me laugh so goddamn hard.

Because I'm just That good.

Not intentionally.
Not intentionally.
How do you know it wasn't intentional.
Give up lmaoboat you just can't win he's got a custom title for fuck's sake.
I went to the theater the other week and saw Sherlock Holmes instead. *yay*
Good, I was truly offended when I heard that New Moon had the record in my country, surpassing Lord of the rings (I live in New Zealand so that's pretty big)
You know, The last time a blue coloured creature became a world wide sensation was Sonic the Hedgehog and his theme was also about saving the environment from an evil tyrant. Though Dr Eggman was bent on robotizing the world instead of mining it.
Good for Avatar. I hope Cameron is proud of himself.
The youth of today don't understand those films. To get people to watch a movie today you need;
1. Super awesome 10 billion dollar special effects
2. Sex
3. At least one scene where there are explosions all over the place and you can't understand what the hell is going on.
And bam, you have a modern day blockbuster movie. No matter how bad the story or action is, as long as there are explosions and sex people will watch it. I miss the days when movies weren't like this.
Transformers 2 in a nutshell.
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly and The Godfather and various Tarantino films are still better in my opinion.
Screw Tarantino. Pulp Fiction was(and still is) great, but the rest aren't that good.
