The Division has a 1:1 Scale map of Manhattan only. No Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx, Staten Island, etc.
DLC?
I wouldn't mind seeing new areas as an expansion pack.
I mean judging from previous trailers the areas around Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges are mostly complete. So Lower Manhattan and a little bit of Brooklyn are probably coming, maybe Central Park too.
Keep in mind these areas in real life are fucking massive so releasing them all at once would be a waste if there is not enough playable content there.
Also it would be probably overwhelming for a lot of non-hardcore players.
Instead the devs are (hopefully) filling them with missions and polishing them.
Too bad this is an old trailer. Half of these features in the engine will probably be removed due to consoles not being to handle it. Global illumination will probably not be in the final game. But if it is, I'll be impressed.
PC version sounds like it's going to be pretty good judging by graphics settings we have seen so far

Why doesn't Lens Flare have an "Abrams" setting?
But those settings do look pretty comprehensive for what we've seen out of Ubisoft lately.
By the way the devs that are making the division are the same devs behind World in Conflict.
if they say its gonna be a quality experience i would trust them.
also the game engine seems pretty nice

So devs who specialize in RTS are making a TPS and thats expected to be a good thing? yea ok.

Angry Joes video already showed that the game doesn't quite look like that but I think it looks really good nevertheless.

Aren't all those videos from Xbox One though? He said that PC version looks better

Better, but still not nearly as good as it did in the early trailers.
Still that was expected from the get go, considering it is Ubisoft.

He had a bit more to say than it was "better". He said the PC version had a wide range of enhancements over the Xbox One version he was playing and that it was that good a port that he kind of danced around calling it a port.
Who gives a fuck about graphics when you're getting a 1:1 scale map? Do you have any idea how rare that is in games?
What other game has done that? LA Noire?

I don't even feel like it's a Ubisoft thing anymore, it seems like the new console generation has led to a ton of publishers wanting to show off their game super early in development to prove they're the prettiest girl at the dance, but the realities of game development mean that the super-scripted demo they whip up early in development isn't what the finished product looks like 2 years down the line.
That said, I think the Division looks fine graphically, and I'm interested to see what it looks like on a beefy PC as opposed to a console.

I think some of the Spiderman games had a 1:1 or very close Manhattan, but that's all I can think of, and they were pretty empty.
Massive wont let us down. World in Conflict was god-tier. Have some faith.
Experience has taught me that no matter how good it looks, it can turn out to be a massive turd on launch.
Going by gameplay from Node:

I'm not too impressed with having such meaty enemies and clumsy looking AI. However, everything's still subject to change and just surprise me, like R6 Siege.
Being only restricted to Midtown is a little disappointing, but hopefully they trade it off with it being SUPER detailed; kinda like the opposite of Just Cause 3, where they have a huge map but basically no details. That said, it would be fun to go to my office in the city... if it weren't located in the dark zone.

Well if you're judging the video I posted that's a bit stupid of you considering it's literally just a quick look at the pc graphics options..
Go watch Angry Joes video, it shows off the game pretty well.
i was floored when going to nyc after playing gta iv, when we got to central park i just thought to myself 'what the fuck'
What did you expect? Central park is massive.
What's the big deal about it being 1/1 size. It's not the entirety of Manhattan Island, it's just a 2 x .75 mile slice of the island. It's about 13 blocks wide, 16 high, I think it's great from a design aspect, since there's plenty you could do in that size, but it's not like some sprawling empty space that would be impossible to populate with interesting things.
What did you expect? Central park is massive.
I subconsciously expected it to be smaller since city parks are usually not that big. Then you reach the reservoir and finally grasp the size of it. Its just surreal to have a huge green area like that in the middle of one of the most densely populated places on Earth.

The smaller space is probably exactly why they went 1:1
The game also has quite a bit of verticality to it with you being able to get on rooftops which is important to remember when these map sizes are announced. And there's the subway too.
Fuck this open world bullshit. Literally so sick of it. When are action games going to get solid level design again?
Yeah, we should totally have a linear MMO. That'll work well.
Frankly lower Manhattan and downtown Brooklyn would be a massive patch of land for the game, they should just do that.
