Now I have like three Judas Priest songs stuck in my head.

Whilst this is awesome, one question remains on our minds; what are the potential applications for this new form of life? Perhaps the potential for growing machines? It'd be kind of like what we're doing with vat-grown meat, only you could grow a UAV in a large vat using the tungsten-based lifeforms. But wouldn't iron or silicon be more viable, since tungsten's kind of rare compared to those, or even carbon.

Holy fuck science its only monday you cant be blowing my mind so early in the week!
T1000 awesome
Astronauts?
Maybe, but it seems like these would be a lot more expensive than the normal rovers and such. A rover that could actively adapt to fit the surroundings we place it in though, that is a flawless machine.

[editline]19th September 2011[/editline] Yeah, in this week's issue of new scientist, they say how "His building blocks are large polyoxometalates, made of a range of metal atoms - most recently tungsten - linked to oxygen and phosphorous."
Balls of steel?
