AMD products have never failed on me, would buy from again.

True enough
Its a shame the Windows driver model drastically changes with every other version then isn't it.
Blame windows then. Not AMD.
RIP AMD
you will most likely not be that much missed by intel fanboys

Please stop with this, no one cares if your products have never failed on you.

It's the hardware manufacturer's obligation to support their product with proper drivers though.

I don't blame AMD for not wanting to update 7+ year old drivers because microsoft decided to obfuscate everything because why not

I do believe valve brings in a profit of over a billion a year.
I do believe valve brings in a profit of over a billion a year.
That they more than likely have to blow on developing the rest of their products, advertising etc.
They might have some sort of profit at the end of the year but they still have to do something with that, just buying AMD on a whim would be an awful decision
Is there anyway Valve could just buy the GPU division of AMD? (In other words, ATI) The rest of the company is completely useless.
I beg your pardon
Is there anyway Valve could just buy the GPU division of AMD? (In other words, ATI) The rest of the company is completely useless.
Yes, ATI is a asset/subdivision of AMD
Tried to convey this information to my mother.
"A new company will pop up next year, and you'll realize your mother was right."
Way too damn optimistic.
Is there anyway Valve could just buy the GPU division of AMD? (In other words, ATI) The rest of the company is completely useless.
I strongly disagree.
I'd love for Valve to buy them, but it seems much more likely to me that they'll be bought out by either Intel (trying to enter the GPU game for real) or Nvidia (in a bid to enter the CPU market, or find out what AMD knows about GPUs or gain their employees.)
In worst case, AMD isn't bought out, then goes under. After that, Intel runs a monopoly, a suit is filed. They have to split like At&t did, Into like two different companies at the least. If anything, it's the social Darwinism. the strongest company survives, then they split, technology increases even better and faster, considering they'll be equal for a while, then rise even higher.

Let's see the list of consumer CPU manufacturers shall we:
* Intel
* AMD
okay then.
If AMD goes under, the CPSC better break up Intel because its a monopoly
What kind of logic is this though? They didn't force their rivals out or buy them out, the competing company just went under, how would it be fair (or lawful) for Intel to be broken up just because the competition screwed up?
Is there anyway Valve could just buy the GPU division of AMD? (In other words, ATI) The rest of the company is completely useless.
Haha, no. AMD is the 2nd company on Earth to be able to manufacture and deliver in large numbers performance x86 CPU's for consumers. Monopolies are bad.
I hope Nvidia does well with their project Denver desktop processors next year.
Intel is already over priced as it is and they could easily charge more.

Intel isn't completely in the clean.
There are some people (me included) who were stung by supposedly high-end AMD GPU's one time too many and refuse to go back for more.
I have more bitter experiences with Nvidia GPU's.
ESPECIALLY the whole 8XXX series fiasco with shitty solder.
So many laptops affected, even Apple vowed not to use Nvidia GPU's until they had improved their track record again.
Doesn't VIA manufacture really shitty X86 processors?
They're incredibly power efficient though.
Hey maybe amd going under means that without proper competion intel will drastically reduce prices!
NOT
I have allways used amd cpu's, have a quad core right now, never had problems with them.
AMD (The CPU developer) has not made anything worth a shit in the last four years.
They've basically been kept afloat by their GPUs.
Their latest stuff actually shows a chance at not sucking massively in future iterations, which is a pretty significant improvement.

Come back when you have any fucking clue what you're talking about
The speed of their desktop processors for video gaming is not an accurate measurement of how much they have contributed, at all
What kind of logic is this though? They didn't force their rivals out or buy them out, the competing company just went under, how would it be fair (or lawful) for Intel to be broken up just because the competition screwed up?
too bad for Intel, although it isn't guaranteed they will unless they try to "maximize profits" and "set up high barriers for entry" (which already exist)
AMD always seemed to be able to make processors and video cards not be portable furnaces.
RIP in peace AMD
Aw fuck
Doesn't VIA manufacture really shitty X86 processors?
They do indeed, but nobody besides nobody uses them ever for any reason.
AMD (The CPU developer) has not made anything worth a shit in the last four years.

It's not like there's a whole line of Server CPU's in rather extensive use or anything, the xeons may still be ahead but still.
What, so this would mean Lenovo discontinuing their computers with AMD hardware? Fuck their intel machines they're not powerful enough and they're expensive as shit for fucks sake.
AMD seems a good cheap option for me, even the APUs I see in other laptops and desktops outperform intel HD graphics in games.
Don't fucking die. I'm already running low on money for college.
Wow I feel like I betray amd, I always had their cpus and now I recently bought an i5 2500k since amd cpus suck a big cock when it comes to playing arma :(
