Hoping this works out for them because I really wish smartphones were more durable. I really don't care much about how thin a phone is because it is the only thing in my right pocket anyway.
There already exists a FLIR add on camera that works with android and iPhones.
But I suppose the additional cost ($249.99) is already built into the cost of that CAT phone.

It's a lot more convenient to have it built in, obviously.
I've been think of getting a CAT phone for a while now
Thermal camera is great for us welders as some steel required pre-heating to a certain degree before welding on it

Wouldn't an IR thermometer be a lot more convenient for that? Especially wearing welding gloves

This is not 80x60
No but you can get far more detail by combining a visible light camera with an edge detect filter and overlay the heatmap on top of that
I'm just gonna say this isn't a consumer phone, this is for people who work in heavy duty environments.
There are better professional tools than it though so I'd say it firmly fits in "Prosumer" category.

Sure is but I don't want to walk around with that in my pocket, they use pretty much space.
Plus I don't have to risk my normal phone to be filled with metal dust etc
