So long, and thanks for all the fish.
and chips
Dear scotland and ireland: we got plenty of room on the flag for two more stars! hop on in!
Sorry, I'm not going to trade May for Trump, thanks. Scotland's politics are too left to be really compatible with American ones, where your left wing is really centre-right.
Can we please have a vote for my county to leave England and stay in the eu? We are so fucked, we are prisoners of the endless Tory government forever now.
BREAKING: Article 50 letter handed over Posted at 12:28 The Article 50 letter has been handed. the BBC's Katya Adler says.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-politics-39424391 it's done boys
Well, we had a good run, but the idiots have poked enough holes in the boat now. Something something Rule Britannia.
Can't wait to be left in a legal void when the govt fails to get any concessions from the EU.
about time :toot:
Such a massive act of self-harm
The political equivalent of sticking a firecracker down your dick, lighting it, and hoping for the best.
Can't wait to be left in a legal void when the govt fails to get any concessions from the EU.
As of today, I'm in a legal void. I'm a UK expat living in an EU country, and I have no idea what my legal status is going to be in 2 years.
If this is the history of this period I'm going to read in 10 years time I will lose my shit We're looking at Brexit right now for three reasons : 1) Non-existent fundamental political education in this country, all you get before A-Level (providing you're in the 50%~ that chose History) is a basic explanation of extreme ideologies like Nazism and Stalinism. So what do we get? A piss poor understanding of the differences between authoritarian rule and democracy, between conservatism and liberalism, between extreme ideology and its root movements which has made people vulnerable to bullshit and deprived them of critical thinking. If you asked 90-95% of young people today who Edmund Burke or John Locke were, they'd have probably never heard of either name. On a daily basis I see people on social media who think the pro-Remain march that happened on Saturday was anti-democratic and treasonous with no hint of irony. 2) Cult-like press in the form of the Daily Mail, Daily Express, The Telegraph, The Spectator, which have brainwashed millions of people into believing a number of utterly ridiculous myths and basically act as Kingmaker for any aspiring opposition party, publishing hit pieces and twisted articles to push an agenda their readers are almost always unable to question. This is the press that can get away with calling the Judiciary the enemies of the fucking people and then write hit pieces about how one of the judges was "openly gay", but rely on their readers to brush it off as just "those PC lefties firing off again" 3) Self-serving Tory party bastards like Boris Johnson, Andrea Leadsom and Michael Gove, all of whom knew full well that Brexit would be a disaster, but each took it as an oppurtunity to try seize Tory party leadership. Of course they also knew full well that the cult-like press I just described would never hold them to account, enabling them to do it in the first place. They came up with the 350m farce amongst other things, and ran a far more effective campaign than both Remainers and Farage's Leave.EU, both of which were an embarassment
You're right, thank you for making a more comprehensible post.
Dear scotland and ireland: we got plenty of room on the flag for two more stars! hop on in!
ara jasus now we're already like the 51st state with all your multinationals over here. we don't want that trump lad either, sure enda kenny might be the must brutal dictator in all of human history but he's not a fecking eejit like trump

But remember guys, we have to remain united despite half the population getting fucked over!
But remember guys, we have to remain united despite half the population getting fucked over!
That's democracy, you may not like the result but we have to deal with it.
That's democracy, you may not like the result but we have to deal with it.
That's DIRECT democracy. We've kind ahad representative democracy for a few millenia by now. Which basically means we vote for people who aren't gonna fuck over the ENTIRE country just because half of the country are stupid.
:toot: Here we go. Negotiations will be interesting to watch.
Here we go.
I'm so happy for you that you're happy that something that doesn't even affect you in one single way is about to fuck everything up for the people of Britain, Ireland and perhaps further a field in many different ways. Oh wait, I'm not. But you're going to reply something like "Long Live the Empire" that has been dead for nearly a century, cause you're just taking the piss.
England shall prevail.
There's more to the UK than England, despite what some people here seem to think
This is a really sad shitshow but I'm really happy for Scotland for having the courage to stand up to this bullshit and do something about it, even if it's not for all the right reasons.
That's democracy, you may not like the result but we have to deal with it.
Out of curiosity, what did you vote?
Whilst I voted remain, I feel like everyone here is crying doom when it's obviously not the end of days
That's democracy, you may not like the result but we have to deal with it.
Already discussed many times, but this is direct democracy, which is a failure. Representative democracy has always been the better one.
That's DIRECT democracy. We've kind ahad representative democracy for a few millenia by now. Which basically means we vote for people who aren't gonna fuck over the ENTIRE country just because half of the country are stupid.
Whilst they might be stupid, they still have the right to vote I find people saying that people shouldn't be allowed to vote because they'll make "the wrong choice" to be pretty undemocratic and fairly reprehensible
Whilst I voted remain, I feel like everyone here is crying doom when it's obviously not the end of days
It's pretty bad for everyone and it's completely useless though (like Trump's wall), you have every right to be mad.
Already discussed many times, but this is direct democracy, which is a failure. Representative democracy has always been the better one.
Representative Democracy is also a failure. Case in point: The USA
And I mean, you can always get out if you decide that you'd rather live in a country with strong expectations of economic stability and growth instead of the UK. It's pretty easy to become a citizen of another EU country IIRC. The UK voted for the party that promised the referendum, they got the referendum, and they made their bed. It's a pretty incredible aspect of the modern age that you generally don't actually have to lay in it with them.
Out of curiosity, what did you vote?
Remain, but I'm not going to bitch about it on a forum as much as I don't like the result.
