£40 for a single-use digital upgrade? Fuck that. I'd be better off paying a bit more for a retail CD and installing it on 3+ computers.
Ehh, you can (officially) only install one license on one computer, you should be able to do the same trick with this, provided you have a Windows 7/Vista/XP license.
I'm sure the European price will be great then.
ahh this so funny, who cares bout the uk
Probably a lot more than the amount of people that care about your posts. (User was banned for this post ("Report, don't reply" - verynicelady))
oh im sure, but next time try not to post the obvious
Probably a lot more than the amount of people that care about your posts.
Meh, I'll upgrade to Windows 8, mostly because I'm sick of Vista and I don't have the 100+ dollars for 7.
HOLY SHIT how hard is it to get that it is NOT up to Microsoft nor Valve to decide the currency?
HOLY SHIT how hard is it to get that it is NOT up to Microsoft nor Valve to decide the currency?
Valve, not all the time, only on their games on Steam. Microsoft yes it is up to them. The difference is too much to justify it with taxes and such, and since it's a download there's no transportation or "retail store wanting more" excuse.
HOLY SHIT how hard is it to get that it is NOT up to Microsoft nor Valve to decide the currency?
It's not up to Microsoft to decide on the price of a product made by Microsoft published by Microsoft and sold by Microsoft? That explains so much! :downs:
oh sorry I thought it was the same deal with Valve, my bad :P
pfff who buys Windows these days, pretty much everyone I know has pirated Windows. Still selling it at double the price for UK users is a really dick move. On saying that I know a bunch of companies have done the same, in particular Amazon.
Can someone close this stupid shit? Just another microsoft hate wank bandwagon, confirmed false. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2195252/Windows-8-Microsoft-confirms-upgrading-cost-24-99-UK.html#ixzz24wjArmtm
The Steam prices aren't that bad, it's almost the same price since we don't have to pay VAT
Come to Australia.. EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF SOFTWARE MEANS ANOTHER MORTGAGE!
"Hey dude what about Australian customers?" "Oh just make it another $230" "Sounds good"
http://www.theverge.com/microsoft/2012/8/29/3277859/windows-8-pro-uk-upgrade-price?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter liar liar pants on fire! it's actually 24.99 pounds. I'm already late though, but we all love and trust The Verge, no?
Ahaha so it was just rumor bullshit and everyone jumped on the Microsoft hate bandwagon.
http://www.theverge.com/microsoft/2012/8/29/3277859/windows-8-pro-uk-upgrade-price?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter liar liar pants on fire! it's actually 24.99 pounds. I'm already late though, but we all love and trust The Verge, no?
Yeah, it's just more confirmation. Basically what the daily mail did is they published a BS article, stirred up a bunch of MS bandwagon hate and then 2 hours later fixed it with no trace of the original article.
Now you'll just people coming here reading the title and only the first post and believing it. Remember when Microsoft "prevented 3rd party start menu applications from working".
lol my friend who has an msdn account give me 4 W8 keys :D

I buy windows because I usually buy me laptops (because they're more useful for my work)
the extra cost for brits is obviously to cover the shipping costs of pixels :downs:
I buy windows because I usually buy me laptops (because they're more useful for my work)
That is disappointing. I, a usual Linux user, went through flaming hoops trying to find a decent laptop without Windows installed, the idea being I could save a couple bucks on the license. I couldn't. I gave up.

I find me a good, relatively cheap Laptop with windows on it, delete all the bloatware and tada, I have a perfectly functional PC without much effort. And no, you WON'T find decent laptops without Windows on them.
Doesn't Dell have Ubuntu laptops?
Not in the UK at least.
The thing with me though, even though I know how to build a PC and put whatever OS to it, I prefer already set-up stuff. I'm practical in that sense. I find me a good, relatively cheap Laptop with windows on it, delete all the bloatware and tada, I have a perfectly functional PC without much effort. They said it's "illegal" to sell a laptop without a functioning operating system. Utter bullshit; they are just paid too much by microsoft for exclusive rights. http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/ - actually does offer no OS.
and I would say, stealing.
Well you can say that, but from a legal perspective you'd be completely wrong in just about every country on the planet.
ehr...no. :v:
My Dell laptop worked fine and never had any problems.... Until my brother slammed a Xbox controller in it cause I beat him in Street Fighter.
Doesn't Dell have Ubuntu laptops?
fucking every Dell laptop looks like a grandma's laptop. Fucking so curvy. And no, I specifically asked the customer support rep and he said that they stopped offering Ubuntu laptops at some point and that he was not informed of a reason why. He seemed honest enough so I believe him. Valve charges the same dollar number in euros and has been for years and nobody is angry about that? They're essentially charging europeans 25% more just by changing the currency symbol.
