I do understand French and I'm sorry but it's awful.
I just like the beat and how it is all stylised, if I understood the words my opinon may differ
I just like the beat and how it is all stylised, if I understood the words my opinon may differ
I like the beat too. I looked up the lyrics in English and I don't see the problem? It's about a guy who has everything but desperately wants to grow a moustache. Unless the French lyrics are the problem.
Can someone explain the appeal of this to someone who isn't European?
Theoretically the appeal for most is the silly nonsense they do, but there was hardly any of that this year. Ballad after ballad after ballad, all done the same way. Woman in a long dress standing in front a wind machine, add a beard if victory desired.
Can someone explain the appeal of this to someone who isn't European?
I'm european and have no idea, I would have not even known this was going on if it wasn't for one of my friends being hype for it.

Did France not get the memo about bring this A game this year.

There are people out there struggling to come to grips with their own body, the sex they were born as and the gender they feel they are, and along comes strolling a guy with a beard who puts on pretty lady clothes and degrades the whole issue to the level of "haha a lady with a beard isn't that so whacky and outrageous?", essentially assuming the role of a clown, guaranteeing celebrity status and success at the Eurovision, because this contest hasn't been about musical quality for decades, but about which song (or performer!) leaves a impression in people's mind, no matter what idiocy they commit on stage to achieve that.
The funniest thing about Eurovision is that people's SMS are essentially meaningless - decision of Jury is overwhelming. If their votes would be eliminated, I seriously doubt that Austria would get first place. Take a look here for example - According to voters, Poland was first, but according to Jury - it was 25th, resulting in no points. The entire system is flawed, because without Jury it was a contest "Look Who Has The Most Emigrants Over The Europe (Turkey, Mostly)" Anyone believing it's still about best song is deluded.
To be honest I didn't get why Denmark didn't get a higher place than 9th. I thought this years entry was pretty good, compared to the rest:
No. The usa and quite a handfull of east european/african/middle eastern/indochina countries got their independence at large with the concert and efforts of France. And then think of the progress french brought to the world, or the culture.200 years ago french language was today's english.Even now 400mil people speak it. Everyone knows at least something about France, and that says it all. Vive la France!
says vive la france, posts a video with 2 belgian singers in it. Well done!
I haven't seen Eurovision since I moved to the US, but God damn do I miss it. Also nice to see that France came in dead last.
brilliant
Lordi always felt kind of like GWAR for kids to me.
I don't understand... I watched it and it isn't really that good. She/he sounds super generic, but I guess she only won because she's different looking
There would be an outrage if it didn't win. Ultra tolerance.
How the fuck did that get 2 points? This is so good and I don't even understand a bit of French
This was my favorite entry until I heard them perform it live. It was awful. That said, I found Austria's song so amazingly boring and forgettable. I really don't understand the way the votes ended up being. Nothing made sense. Seriously, Austria? I mean, alright I might accept that it was an okay song, but the best?
I couldn't care less about LGBT agenda, political affairs, or a fucking beard. I just liked the song, and it was the only one I liked this year. Glad he won.

Also Polands song was sexualized as fuck, I almost vomited.
Uhm, you realize that's only the UK's voting? Also Polands song was sexualized as fuck, I almost vomited.
I had the entire family around when Poland came on, it was the best laugh I've had in a while when that woman started churning butter. :v:
Uhm, you realize that's only the UK's voting? Also Polands song was sexualized as fuck, I almost vomited.
Sure, you can change and see that other countries had enormous disproportions between Jury and SMS as well. I also love that fact that Poland and Austria were presented as the two opposite sides of the spectrum. Poland as this bad, primitive, oversexualized for using women and tits as a use of promotion, and Austria as this good, tolerant, beautiful for using drag queen with beard as a use of promotion. Both songs were equally mediocre and didn't fit the festival at all.
They should pretty much abandon the Eurovision.
Bread and games.
Btw, this is causing an outright shitstorm in Eastern Europe :v: Besides being a godsend to Russia's propaganda, this also made the usual russian agree with all the shit Russian officials keep saying about the EU
Yeah I can confirm this. People are flipping their shit around here.
-snip-
We were second to last but at least we weren't France.
Yeah I can confirm this. People are flipping their shit around here.
People over here just sigh and move on with their lives. Eurovision is a joke over here. does anyone even take it seriously outside of Eastern Europe?
Eurovision is freak show
People over here just sigh and move on with their lives. Eurovision is a joke over here. does anyone even take it seriously outside of Eastern Europe?
To be honest only politicians and idiots take it seriosly here. But "wtf europe, are you crazy?" is a common phrase here right now.
