• The caps-lock key: WOULD YOU MISS IT?

I use my caps key for my ventrilo push to talk key so yes I would.
If people like the key so much, maybe I can make an external capslock switch just for those special occasions and sell it:
I have a problem with not using the shift key. I just hit the Caps Lock key twice when I want to capitalize something. I just hit it ten times in this one sentence.
Sometimes I accidentally use caps lock instead of shift.
Wouldn't miss it at all
I use the caplock for mic intercom in Red Orchestra because I have a shitty mouse, and my original key is now my ironsight...
I hate seeing people use Caps lock, it uses up so much of the ink in my monitor
Since my ring finger sits on A (WASD format, after years it naturally rests there) Instead of pressing shift I tap caps lock, type the letter then hit caps lock again. It's an extremely fast process, and the shift key was an un-natural movement for me (having to hold it down)
My ring finger also sits on A, but I use the shift key using my pinky. It's also an extremely fast process. I just press they key I want shifted and shift at the same time. And holy crap, I just examined my keyboard after making this post to see what keys I'd not miss, and found out that I have a right click key. Or so it seems. Edit: Oh, just the menu key.
Most likely not. I really don't see a huge ass purpose for it, in fact I'm starting to ponder exactly what people intended it to be used for.
I only ever hit it on accident. aND WHEN i DO MY TYPING LOOKS LIKE THIS AND i NEVER NOTICE IT UNTIL i'VE BEEN TYPING FOR A WHILE. [editline]9th December 2010[/editline]
But... But the caps-lock key is my cruise control to cool.
You still need to steer...
I bump my caps key too much, so, I took it off.
If you have a logitech keyboard you can get Set-Point and disable your capslock key, windows key, etc. It makes binding stuff to alt so safe.
Caps lock is cruise control for cool!!! Don't touch my caps lock!!!
Hold down Shift while typing. :colbert:
FUCK THAT IT'S TOO HARD TO CONTINUOUSLY HOLD DOWN SHIFT WHILE I AM TYPING AN ANGRY MESSAGE TO SOMEONE! :argh:
I was going to make the argument that I use caps lock when programming define statement in C, but I don't. I hold down shift. Don't know why.
I've never once in my life used the caps lock or number lock. When I feel I have to yell on the internet, shift is always the best option.
I almost never hit the caps lock key except by accident, in which people then think I'm trying to yell something across the internet. I wouldn't miss it, though the keyboard would look a bit odd without it.
What the hell is wrong with you people? I fucking love the caps lock key and use it all the time. Fuck holding shift if I wanna write like this BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH
I've never used the caps lock button other than in video games. Ever. If I want to yell, I hold down shift, and I've gotten good at missing the punctuation.
i like caps lock he's my bro
Hold down Shift while typing. :colbert:
I always do this. I blame blockland because it disables caps lock while ingame.
write to nine holding down shift... Now do it with caps lock... !@#$%^&*( 123456789 CAPS LOCK FTW!!! WOOT, NO SHIFT HERE. Hehe, shift makes really long bad words... $#!7 [editline]10th December 2010[/editline] Leave caps lock alone! What did she ever do to you? You bastards!
I am absolutely in favor of removing the caps-lock key. Removing the caps-lock key will remove an unnecessary function, an unnecessary and obnoxious function. You rarely need to fully capitalize your sentences, and when you do, the sentences should be no longer that you can just use the shift key for that sentence. What I do think is pants-on-head retarded though, is that they're removing the F-keys. These keys DO have a lot of usages, both on the Internet, work related programs, and in games.
NO I WOULD NOT /c
The caps lock is great for games, Google have become such sellouts...
I broke my caps lock key ages ago and I have never missed it.
I HATE "it" when "PEOPLE" CAPATILIZE and "quote" random words BECAUSE I read THEM in a "different" "VOICE" than the one I USUALLY read "IN".
Truth be told, I used it on purpose once or twice, writing some name or something. I wonder how the layout will change. Wait, they are removing the Fs? That isn't a good idea. They can be used for a lot of things.
The loss of the caps lock key will be, meh, but messing around with the function keys is going to piss some people off.
But thats the Ctrl key's place :colbert:
From the looks of it, the ctrl key is right next to it. The porn key should replace the [sys rq] key, anyways. I JUST USE SHIFT ANYWAY. I have no idea whether my caps lock still works or not. [editline]10th December 2010[/editline] IT DOES.
I find caps lock helpful when typing in cheats in age of mythology. I think that's about it.
