The US would flatten them in a few months at the most, a few weeks if they wanted to.
Bending Geneva Convention says only a day or two.
Iran actually does have a very modern military.
That doesn't negate the fact that we easily could win a war with them, albeit a tough long war.
Roger that Captain Contradiction. Also, who is "we"? Not everyone here is american you know.
History time Iran.
The "war" part of the iran war ended in three days, the US lost only 6 tanks, Iraq lost six thousand tanks. Iraq was around 5 in the top military powers, now they're so low fucking haiti could kick their ass. Are you sure you want to go there Iran?
Are we caring what that dick-waving idiot says?
Are we caring what that dick-waving idiot says?
Do I see a George Carlin reference?
[img_thumb]http://www.infoaddict.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/nuke4.jpg[/img_thumb]
What would they do about it?
You seriously believe that the Americans would consider dropping one in this time and age?
You seriously believe that the Americans would consider dropping one in this time and age?
agreed, not only the money crysis, but the aftermath, holy shit dust everywhere.
I think a war with Iran would be very interesting. It would be more interesting than persistent guerrilla warfare that goes nowhere. And I don't think people are into expansionism anyways. It seems that everything has set boundaries (well, for the "civilized" countries anyways)
Also just after nuclear dis-armament talks? Whoah hell no
In before the world going mad and scaring Iran forever.
Iran sounds like every European country right before WW1.
Which is right before they got their asses handed to them by eachother.
to be fare i wouldnt start claiming that america would be able to crush them with in like a month because lets be frank they said the same thing about vietnam and that really didnt help
but its just iran showing there shortman syndrome best thing to do is ignore it and let it fiddle around in the corner till it sleeps
dont mess with iran man! theyll fucking own you.
They did have a large batshit crazy army...
They even had willing volunteers to run across the Iraqi minefields to clear ways for the tanks.

If by "volunteers" you mean "brainwashed children".
Patriotic nationalists.
So yeah, as the same with any country... ..brainwashed children.

Dayum, if that shit went off, the entire world would feel it.

A war with Iran would be a good thing in the long run I think for the US and maybe even Iran, regardless who wins, for there hasn't been much of a war vs two nations with near equal technology and tactics... Iran would get ass to mouth fucked up but The US would learn a great deal about facing off against an Actual Navy and an Actual Air Force, which we haven't done since frickin WW2 and Vietnam really
Not to mention Iran's weapons are significantly more modern than Iraq's.
So they have AK74s?
Irans army isnt a bunch of hairy men wearing baclavas that are equipped with ak47s and RPGs like half of Iraqs one was build of. Their army is pretty modern and pretty well equiped with late cold war era weapons and can bring more than a million troops with conscription. They will probably have enormous casualities when the bombing begins but it sure will be a tough fight.
Similar things were said of Saddams Republican Guard before the first Gulf War, actually.

I'm sure the Iranian military for a long time has analyzed very closely at current US operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. They're not stupid.

US operations in Iraq and Afghanistan are counter insurgencies, not a symmetrical war.
US operations in Iraq and Afghanistan are counter insurgencies, not a symmetrical war.
Whether it be a conventional op or an insurgency doesn't matter. Current operations can show the strengths and weaknesses of the US military (such as reliance on firepower and air support for example)
Hehe. 'Mighty'.
Iran is that little kid who tried to hang out with the big kids, even though nobody likes him

i agree with iran they make a good point
Iran could probably have a good hard scrap with america.
But you fight america, you're fighting the whole western world.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't Israel been occasionally bombing the construction sites for nuclear power plants in Iran for the past 4 or 5 decades?
