• GamerGate journalism panel disrupted by bomb threat
MIAMI, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- A journalism conference in Miami was suspended after a bomb threat during a panel discussion on the GamerGate controversy Saturday afternoon. Members of the GamerGate movement, now a year old, contend that media coverage of social criticism of video games is biased and hope to influence what they call more ethical reporting on the industry. Police began clearing the Koubek Center in Miami around 2:30 after receiving a "credible" bomb threat. The threat was for the bomb to go off at 2:45. About 75 people were forced to wait a block and a half away while police dogs were taken inside. The threat was the second in two days for the conference after organizers had the building swept on Friday. An independent security team was hired for the event and locked down the facility overnight, according to Michael Koretzky, a regional director for the Society of Professional Journalists.
http://www.upi.com/Top_News/US/2015/08/15/Bomb-threat-interrupts-GamerGate-panel-at-journalism-conference/3921439670431/ Christina Hoff Sommers and Milo Yiannopoulos were in attendance. This is the second time a bomb threat has been called into a GamerGate-related event while Milo and Christina are in attendance. And no one on the internet was surprised.
i guess those pesky gamergaters ran out of women to harrass so now they just harrass eachother.
#gamergate is still a thing?
#gamergate is still a thing?
Not more than ever, but still very much so. Just because the news stopped reporting after the slamming campaign they did, doesn't mean it stopped. Now the tables are starting to turn, both sides agree on points like gawker deserving death, and today's events show a pretty good example that the anti-gamer side isn't all peaches and roses as was previously told. Next up we've got the court case which will also hopefully change public opinion.
Hey, aGG had nothing to do with this, they're mostly pretty upset that it happened actually, evidence so far is looking like it's just some generic SWATter from 8chan.
Tbh aren't most death threats/bomb threats made against both sides just trolls who don't care either way?
Tbh aren't most death threats/bomb threats made against both sides just trolls who don't care either way?
I wouldn't say that about the death threats, there've been plenty of those from high profile GG figures, but yeah the SWAT calls and the like have pretty much all been trolls.
Tbh aren't most death threats/bomb threats made against both sides just trolls who don't care either way?
I would say pretty much this.
Not more than ever, but still very much so. Just because the news stopped reporting after the slamming campaign they did, doesn't mean it stopped. Personally I don't want to hear about it anymore because of how much of a headache the whole damn thing was for everyone, especially the poor folks who tried to stay Neutral like Totalbiscuit.
Tbh aren't most death threats/bomb threats made against both sides just trolls who don't care either way?
The sad thing is you always have to take that shit seriously, no matter how insane the reasons behind it are.
I wouldn't say that about the death threats, there've been plenty of those from high profile GG figures, but yeah the SWAT calls and the like have pretty much all been trolls.
Yeah No. There are a lot more threats directed towards high profile GG figures.
I wouldn't say that about the death threats, there've been plenty of those from high profile GG figures,
Like who?
Hey, aGG had nothing to do with this, they're mostly pretty upset that it happened actually, evidence so far is looking like it's just some generic SWATter from 8chan.
Not really evidence. Some random guy using an anonymous name said he did it without posting any proof on an anonymous image board. More likely that guy claiming he did it is just taking credit to fuck around.
Personally I don't want to hear about it anymore because of how much of a headache the whole damn thing was for everyone, especially the poor folks who tried to stay Neutral like Totalbiscuit.
this is a tactic, to make people get headaches because they can't figure it out.
I wouldn't say that about the death threats, there've been plenty of those from high profile GG figures, but yeah the SWAT calls and the like have pretty much all been trolls.
For example?
Hey, aGG had nothing to do with this, they're mostly pretty upset that it happened actually, evidence so far is looking like it's just some generic SWATter from 8chan.
"evidence" in this case just means that some random said it was him. in this context it's extremely unlikely that anyone saying it was them even had anything to do with it.
I wouldn't say that about the death threats, there've been plenty of those from high profile GG figures, but yeah the SWAT calls and the like have pretty much all been trolls.
No, there havent been. If there were death threats from high profile GG figures they would be in jail. In fact, some high profile GG members figured out a source of some threats, a Brazilian journalist/troll. For the FBI to pursue charges with the BR gov anita had to be the one to follow up as she received the threats. She never bothered to.
I wouldn't say that about the death threats, there've been plenty of those from high profile GG figures, but yeah the SWAT calls and the like have pretty much all been trolls.
False, when a GG threat/dox comes out, it's always from someone with 0 followers and 1 tweet. When a aGG threatens/harasses/releases dox on a GG member, it's always from someone on their main account being proud of their actions. It's quite disgusting.

Meanwhile we have randy harper and sarah butts openly doxing people on their twitter accounts.
Hey, aGG had nothing to do with this, they're mostly pretty upset that it happened actually, evidence so far is looking like it's just some generic SWATter from 8chan.
It's worth pointing out that this is asteroidrules "evidence"
Calling that "evidence" of one party's guilt is really dishonest of you, asteroidrules. I think getting actual, concrete evidence of who did what trumps the need to urgently inform people on the internet of how evil some people who disagree with you are, especially when that's already up for debate. It's a bomb threat. The police will investigate it because that kind of thing is everyone's problem and hopefully they'll find a better smoking gun than an anonymous post on an anonymous imageboard.
I kinda expected this...
Hey, aGG had nothing to do with this, they're mostly pretty upset that it happened actually, evidence so far is looking like it's just some generic SWATter from 8chan.
Well notable aGG personalities did proudly doxx a kid for just disagreeing with them so I wouldn't be surprised. They are ridiculously zealous about being against GG. https://www.reddit.com/r/KotakuInAction/comments/2fumfd/two_wikipedia_editors_including_a_teenager_have/
this is basically a shitpost
So is this; the proper response is to just ignore it.

Also when it comes to the numbers you probably ought to keep in mind that feminism and the republican party are both considerably larger ideologies than gamergate is, so of course you're going to find more statements from people affiliated with them, and those claims are going to be more well covered, those have more people by at least a magnitude of ten and have existed for decades longer. I'd also advise you actually take note of who I mentioned here, they're not just random nobodies like what you're offering (although I could definitely get in dozens of those too if you wanted), Milo was actually one of the speakers at this.

How are they hidden and on attendees at the same time?

What will actually get through your thick as fuck confirmation bias?
