• GamerGate journalism panel disrupted by bomb threat

just for comparison of the harassment from above, here's the amount of harassment GG supporters received from aGG people http://gamergateharassment.tumblr.com/ feel free to scroll for as long as you like, it doesn't stop for awhile. everything from minor "fuck yous" from nowhere to saying that gays/trans/females should kill themselves for supporting gamergate and saying that it should be legal to kill all gamers. various notable figures from the internet community are in there too.
this guy with 10k tweets to his name following Randi Harper around at her office
Just an FYI when posting evidence of harassment make sure that you read the whole page.
I'm trying to calm down. honestly the worst thing I'm worrying about is them getting the wrong address and going to my mom's house and not-

talked to my mom, who's a lawyer. she says she doesn't have anything on me that could be considered illegal.Calming down a bit.#GamerGate

if releasing public info is doxxing now, what she did could be considered doxxing. she released where i go to school and where I frequent

she just released my sisters name thinking she's my mom

If it gets serious enough where she involves cops, you should show the threats you got from ... — Gonna do that too http://ask.fm/a/bi2l04gf
Randi is actually one of the worst people on the aGG side, she doxxes people on a usual basis to the point where she was forced to change her twitter handle from freebsdgirl to something else because not only has she done anything for freebsd for years, they felt like her having that handle is hurting their image. For people who want to actually have a reasonable discussion about GG, i would recomend going to /r/againstgamergate (Obviously aGG, but they are relativly sane compared to the other aGG board, Gamerghazi.) or /r/kotakuinaction (Pro-gg, they don't ban people for differing opinions unlike GamerGhazi) you can also pop by the thread on fp too if you want, as long as you don't act hostile as fuck while presenting your pov your gonna be welcomed. the airplay event today was actually the first time i seen aGG and Pro-GG talk to eachother in a nice tone, i want to see more of this.
Seems like some sort of rule that the AGGs have, if 3 pro gamergate figures are in a building, call a bomb threat on it.
You've never been on either of the two have you?
been watching both sides before GG even had a name. Ghazi has a very liberal use of the ban button. edit: to addon, I never actually seen anyone complain about how KiA Banned them for the wrong opinion.
been watching both sides before GG even had a name. Ghazi has a very liberal use of the ban button.
I was more referring to the part where you pretend (hopefully in a joking manner) that KiA doesn't.
You've never been on either of the two have you?
Well, you clearly haven't. The worst KiA will do is downvote the shit out of you but that's par the course for any subreddit. Ghazi however has an unwritten law of "You must agree with the narrative at all times or be banned".
Asteroidrules making delusional arguments? Why I never
Well there's the guy who made up Notyourshield claiming he stashed contaminated needles around PAX this guy with 10k tweets to his name following Randi Harper around at her office and somewhat tangentally there's also Mike Cernovich and Milo Yian both defending the infamous Chuck Johnson, which while not itself doxing or threatening is pretty openly supporting both (Milo also tweeted an article containing a doxx of the journalist who archived that, because apparently that's ethical).
That guy didn't make notyourshield that guy 'stalking' harper passed by where she worked and took a photo oh god he must be a monster (like that photo can really tell you why or what was going on) [also who the fuck is he] and milo, being a flawed human being, tweeted an article from a shitty website that has shitty info about people wow, i still fail to see the death threats even after you tried so hard [editline]16th August 2015[/editline] please, you said you had plenty, give me more 'death threats' then [editline]16th August 2015[/editline] i also fail to see how these handful of people reflect on a movement composing of tens of thousands if not many, many more people
That guy didn't make notyourshield that guy 'stalking' harper passed by where she worked and took a photo oh god he must be a monster (like that photo can really tell you why or what was going on) [also who the fuck is he] and milo, being a flawed human being, tweeted an article from a shitty website that has shitty info about people wow, i still fail to see the death threats even after you tried so hard
In order: Yes he did (this was the first Tweet with that tag) "That Guy" had already been posting general threats and insults directed at Harper over Twitter, and then posted a picture of himself at her office. Milo, being a serial harasser exploiting popular issues for his own profit tweeted that article a day after a doxx had been added to it. The reason you're failing to see is because you're trying hard not to.
Like yourself ignoring the very real death threats GGers get?
Hey, aGG had nothing to do with this, they're mostly pretty upset that it happened actually, evidence so far is looking like it's just some generic SWATter from 8chan.
Yes, I'm absolutely sure that GamerGate would call in a bomb threat towards the conference that they actually paid to make happen, just so we can have a reason to keep harrassing the oppressed womenz in vidya gimes. Christ, dude. Just... stop. You're embarassing yourself, like, even more-so than you usually do.
Yes, I'm absolutely sure that GamerGate would call in a bomb threat towards the conference that they actually paid to make happen, just so we can have a reason to keep harrassing the oppressed womenz in vidya gimes.
Just how hard did you have to try to think that's what I said? I literally said it was just some random troll, how is that blaming GG?
Just how hard did you have to try to think that's what I said? I literally said it was just some random troll, how is that blaming GG?
I can keep going, if you haven't gotten my point. I'm absolutely sure that someone would risk twenty years in jail 'for the lulz'. No-- more realistically speaking, whoever did this probably had some sort of objective in doing so, and is most likely mentally deranged to some degree. Sure, there's no proof that anyone's done it-- but to desperately try to throw blame off of the most likely perpetrator is ridiculous, even if they spent all of five minutes putting up a statement that said "o yeah bomb threats are wrong lol"
I can keep going, if you haven't gotten my point. I'm absolutely sure that someone would risk twenty years in jail 'for the lulz'. Yeah there's a lot of people who would risk 20 years in jail "for the lulz".
yeah like the people who swat twitch streamers who are facing similar penalties as someone who could have done this you've been on the internet long enough to know that people will do anything because its a funny meme joke prank lulz
Which is why we should instantly declare all of GG a misogynist hate mob whenever some random idiot does something like send a death threat to a feminist blogger?
Who even seriously cares about this anymore (User was banned for this post ("Why reply" - Craptasket))
Who even seriously cares about this anymore
lot's of people journalism ethics is a pretty legitimate concern
lot's of people journalism ethics is a pretty legitimate concern
I don't really give a shit about journalism as whole, to be honest, but the anger at seeing so many horrible people get away with so much while pointing their fingers at others, and never having to answer for it, doesn't diminish with time.
it's just a shitfest that both sides are as bad as each other now I'm sick of it popping up in my newsfeed
it's just a shitfest that both sides are as bad as each other now I'm sick of it popping up in my newsfeed
No, it isn't equally terrible. The media reports on one as if it's the worst crime committed in history and remains completely silent when the opposing side has the same thing done to them. Don't like reading about it? Skip the thread.
You've never been on either of the two have you?
Dear god you can't seriously be putting KiA anywhere near Ghazi's level? Ghazi is, at its very best, SRS 2.0, complete with Social Justice Approved bigotry. To put it simply for those not familiar with what I mean: it's a shithole full of pseudointellectual rationalisations for racism/sexism against white males and hate against a very diverse group of people who are colloquially known as "GamerGate". Oh and if you disagree you'll be banned faster than if you posted That Cat.
it's just a shitfest that both sides are as bad as each other now I'm sick of it popping up in my newsfeed
This is an incredibly ignorant view of things and I'm left wondering why you felt you had to tell us this.
This is an incredibly ignorant view of things and I'm left wondering why you felt you had to tell us this.
Because it's true Both sides have used underhanded tactics to achieve their goals
Because it's true Both sides have used underhanded tactics to achieve their goals
Emailing gawker's advertisers to cut funding was underhanded? Even if you're willing to defend that point, Gawker had it coming.
Because it's true Both sides have used underhanded tactics to achieve their goals
or it's false, substantiate your claim?
Because it's true Both sides have used underhanded tactics to achieve their goals
every group has undesirables, doesn't mean that they make up the majority of the group though
Emailing gawker's advertisers to cut funding was underhanded? Even if you're willing to defend that point, Gawker had it coming.
also with those emails, you didn't have to undermine the truth just provide problems of associating with people like gawker. This is gawker who is a parent company of kotaku whose staff and articles attacked GG. And people who used a coke twitter ad in GG to send positivity to people who probably had anger issues, gawker uses mein kampf to ruin the coke ad. I do not see underhanded tactic of people sending flowers.
Because it's true Both sides have used underhanded tactics to achieve their goals
I'm just going to say you're right. Both sides are full of scumbags. But problem is one side dominates the narrative and consistently manages to avoid the slightest bit of mainstream scrutiny, all the while being centered around the idea that the actions of a minority are all the justification they need to disregard their message completely.
I can't access archive.is links, it's as if the site doesn't exist? I don't want to unfairly defend or attack anyone, so there should be repercussions for doing wrong on either side. Speaking for the GG side I would've really liked Facepunch style moderation to be applied everywhere, but unfortunately that simply does not happen on Twitter, and elsewhere moderators started abusing their power every time, leading them to take refuge in the most lawless of environments. Still, the mob did a valiant effort in calling out those who resorted to unacceptable tactics, but they never could silence anyone, or deny anyone's "membership". On the contrary aGG had all the power to ostracize anyone deemed "unacceptable", but they didn't use this power against flaming, trolling and death threats on their side, but rather to weed out dissenting opinions. Even if I didn't support GG's cause, aGG's way of doing things has been really disgraceful.
