i get stupid automated telemarketing crap on my cellphone all the time despite never giving out my cell phone number. My friend and brothers get them also (funny we all have AT&T too)
I actually never gave out my home number online ever in my life, my cellphone yes but my cellphone never gets telemarket calls and yet my home phone does.
Could be illegitimate then. I can only speak for legitimate market research companies based on experience. Also, fun fact, Market Research Companies are not prohibited by the Do Not Call list, another favorite of mine is when people try to bring that up and threaten to sue the company (EDIT: Some "funny" employees will go out of their way to make sure these people are called again, which really sucks for the other employees who unkowingly call them again).
My number is originally from Cricket Wireless, but I decided to keep it once I moved to Verizon. Probably should have just opted for the new number.
Some telemarketers stopped calling me once I told them I was dead.
I got fed up with telemarketers so I just installed an app to block their shit.
Some telemarketers stopped calling me once I told them I was dead.
This actually makes me wonder what would happen if someone answered a telemarketer call and at the first hint of a chance started off on a tumblr-esque rant about the hardships of being a transethnic dolphin or something
I think this is relevant:
i keep getting calls and texts from businesses and people in chicago, all looking for Jimmy. at least once a month Father Clements asking for a Jimmy. Also get calls from a Kenny J asking for Jimmy on the first day i had my fucking phone. i also got a text from someone who lived in southside chicago. he asked me for a pic and sent me one of him sitting in the back of a cab. i sent him a pic of my friend sensually eating a piece of pizza. no response until a month later where i got a text from the number stating this exactly
Hey U there a guy I work with name Carlton Carringintin he looks so much like you dark sexy brother. I wonder do he have a big dick like u lol
never have i been to chicago, i live in washington for christs sake. i never get the chance to tell these people that they have the wrong number, though, because i don't answer numbers i don't recognize.
i never get the chance to tell these people that they have the wrong number, though, because i don't answer numbers i don't recognize.
All those heartbroken employers who wanted to interview you..... Maybe. Anyway, I keep getting calls from some legal office asking for some fucking guy called "Vincent G. Clarke." I've had to tell them a million times they've got the wrong number and they still call every other day.
My job is taking phone orders from drunk angry people, I put up with this shit everyday.
We put our number on the do not call registry list and Telstra still fucking managed to give our number out to the telemarketer centers and we can't do shit about it I just fuck with them, sometimes I have prolonged conversations about my day, I sometimes play along, hell they called me might as well waste their time
One time a dozen people texted me asking questions about my (nonexistent) car
I keep getting those bullshit calls saying "the warranty on your vehicle may be expired". I drive an '86 Bronco II, so unless Ford has a bitchin' rad warranty on those then yes, it's safe to say my warranty is fucking expired.
I think this is relevant:
Love how the marketer explains how it'll only take a few seconds after the first ear bashing hahaha
I use my dad's megaphone and blast it into the phone whenever they call little shits [editline]29th August 2013[/editline] [t]http://www.mgelectronics.com/images/mge-productimages/megaphone.jpg[/t] Good fun
My sister just moved, and keeps getting cheap ass advertismentgarbage in her mail. If it ain't important my dad writes with a big waterproof marker on the front side that person has died and sends em back where they came from.
"Hello may I talk to Jessica" "Sorry wrong number" "No its not" The fact that this happens every other week...

Some telemarketers stopped calling me once I told them I was dead.
Back when I had my old number, these four people would not stop calling me and asking for "Blake." These calls actually fueled my hatred for anyone named Blake, but that's beside the point. Eventually I got tired of random people calling me and insisting I let them speak to this guy, and on one special day they all were at some party or whatever and thought it was HILARIOUS!!!! to call me over and over (all four of them) until I "gave in" and gave the phone to Blake. I screamed into the phone that I couldn't take their harassment, had never met a guy named Blake, and my life was just too much to keep on living. I tossed the phone in the air, and smashed a wooden cutting board against the countertop so hard it sounded like a decent-sized caliber handgun being fired. A second later, the phone hit the floor, and I waited until the phone started making that angry buzzing noise indicating the line was active but unused. They never, ever called again. [editline]29th August 2013[/editline] Also, this isn't the first time I've done this. I have a scientific method of fucking with people who won't leave me the hell alone.
In Denmark we have this issue were the telemarketers hides their number, so you just can't block a single phone number. So when my phone rings, it just says: Unknown Number. Super annoying...

The very first phone call I got when I plugged my new flat phone line in was a telemarketer, I didnt even know the phone number myself but they somehow had it. I would get called 5-6 times a day by random telemarketers until I pulled the plug. I also get a ton of them through my mobile phone, and now I just add them straight to my blocked numbers list, and over time the amount I get has dropped dramatically.
I only recently got a voicemail about some dude thinking I was "Michelle" and wanted to know how my "boobies" were doing.
Recently I had a call in 3 AM from some arab-sounding man: - Ummm, hello. - Hello Mr Revzin, your keyboards are ready! - What. - Your 22 top gaming keyboards, we are delivering them right now to Murmansk with a bonus mouse! (I live in Moscow.) - I didn't order that there. - But... - Nope. - hysterical FUCK YOU and then silence I hope they didn't really try to deliver anything there, it's helluva far from here.
when i was 16 i got a phone call at night asking me what kind of underwear i was wearing.... :/
when i was 16 i got a phone call at night asking me what kind of underwear i was wearing.... :/
Should have replied with "cumstained boxers, now what are you wearing?"
i never get the chance to tell these people that they have the wrong number, though, because i don't answer numbers i don't recognize.
I never understood why people do this.
