Uh, by this logic we should be forcing our values onto Third World countries, we'd save millions more lives and have a much greater improvement on people's lives that way. The Japanese are pretty far from the top of the list of countries that need improvement on their values. Also I'm pretty sure that'd be illegal there anyways, in which case it's an enforcement issue, not a cultural values issue. If you want to actually prevent people from raping children you should be focusing on the middle east and Africa.
And sexual misconduct in acting/management relationships are hardly something unique to the Japanese.

So you post yourself in whatever other thing you're involved in, seems like a pretty big identifier.
They backpedaled:

What were the tweets?
Anyway I have a feeling the fact that Allison was a Pedo-Apologist was also a factor in her termination.
What were the tweets?
A Dev saying they cancelled their Wii U games in development then claiming upon getting more information they uncancelled it.
What were the tweets?

The first tweet read, "In support of women in the game industry we are forced to halt production of currently planned titles on Nintendo consoles as of this time." They later tweeted, "Due to updated info and a honest conversation with sources close to issue, we will not be moving forward with halting our production plans."

What a fast backdown.

What a surprise. Almost like it was a kneejerk reaction. Oh wait....
lmao even her argument about "Japan's culture being different and we shouldn't infringe on it" is BS. We SHOULD infringe on Japan's culture, because it's TERRIBLE.
I know a relatively famous idol who I won't name here, but holy shit her industry horror stories. Sold to random CEOs for sex under the table by her managers when she was a gravure idol, the list goes on and on.

What pedophilia values? The age of consent is 16-18, what else do you want?
Rape, pedophilia, extortion all isn't legal or socially acceptable.

in japan it's like 14, which to me isn't as jacked up and puritanical as it is in america.
you all act as though 14-18 year olds don't screw eachother, what's the issue?
The age of consent in Japan is 13 years old under the Japanese national criminal law code. However, all municipalities and prefectures have their own particular laws such as Tokyo's “Youth Protection Law” which prohibit adults from having sex with youths who are under 17 years old."
So for adults the effective AoC limitation is 17.
Just for clarification.

US infringing on Japan would make it a whole lot worse
Alison Rapp is trying to claim Nintendo is lying, I have a feeling this is going to end poorly for her:

I wish. I noticed the issue was trending on Facebook, so I clicked it. Droves of people calling misogyny on Nintendo. Jesus Christ.
There are people on sites like NeoGAF defending her, I mean, what.
Seriously, you shouldn't be using your PUBLIC PR ACCOUNT to voice these sort of opinions, keep this shit to yourself lady, geeeeez.
Ignore the secondary job/Photoshoot stuff, the tweets are probly the real reason she was canned
just being hired by a company does not mean you automatically represent them, that's why PR people exist.
edit: i wasn't aware that alison rapp was a pr person so haha egg's on my face i guess. i still think this is horseshit tho.
i know everyone is gonna celebrate this like it's some sort of victory but campaigning to get getting private citizens removed from their job over some petty political disagreement is one of the worst trends in online activism i've seen. it's terrible. you could very well be endangering someone's life as well as their family, anyone who relies on them. having your primary source of income ripped out from under your feet is a hell of an experience, extremely scary.
but that doesn't matter because alison rapp made a paper that challenged the public's perception on a touchy social issue, right?
i don't really care about alison rapp or her politics. i'm sure someone will have the gall to spin this post in such a way that suggests i support pedophilia by proxy by saying that alison rapp shouldn't have been fired but what exactly about this ridiculous campaign is any better than doxing? at least with doxing people typically just get prank called, this was an actual, malicious campaign to get someone fired.
w/e. i think this is fucked up but that's just me.
I have never worked for a company that didn't have some sort of social media policy. Nintendo is well within their rights to terminate someone who they think is legitimately damaging their brand, and it's hard to think of more damage for a company that markets video games to children than your PR rep calling child pornography freedom of speech.
Alison Rapp is trying to claim Nintendo is lying, I have a feeling this is going to end poorly for her:
Nintendo probably doesn't care if the dude who packs boxes at one of their production facilities gets a second job at a grocery store or something but I'm sure a public relations post has some sort of exclusivity. I know if I was running a company I wouldn't want my PR person to be working somewhere and be recognized as the face of my company.
I know if I was running a company I wouldn't want my PR person to be working somewhere and be recognized as the face of my company.
I imagine this is especially true when her moonlighting gig is lingerie modeling. Nothing wrong with that, but I don't imagine nintendo is too hype on someone being able to see one of their employee's near-naked pictures

Its not just some people on neogaf, if you've seen their thread its everyone posting. Because if you disagree you will get banned. Neogaf is the worst forum im aware of.
So IGDA, the organization that heavily promoted Randi Harper's blockbot, is attacking Nintendo now:
"While Nintendo’s official statement on the matter of Alison Rapp’s firing strives to distance the company from anything related to the orchestrated online campaign of harassment and defamation that was raging against her, their timing in dealing with the issue is dubious at best. Unfortunately, the company seems oblivious to the consequences of their actions, not realizing the perceived victory it handed to the online hate groups who are now pursuing the dismissal of other women game developers by derision and defamation to their companies. By now, we would expect that all game development and publishing companies would be fully aware of negative social media dynamics and be more discerning of online feedback, as well as more protective of their employees — especially their employees of diverse backgrounds. Many have become proactive and aware but this industry obviously needs to make more progress.”
and the IGDA wonders why no one takes them seriously, fuck the IGDA, corrupt pieces of shit

I don't really understand how one can even have a diverse background.

I fail to understand why it is so difficult for some people to come to terms with her termination. I bet the main probable reason why Nintendo actually fired her is maybe because she was just awful at her PR job. Posting pedophila tweets and modelling pictures of yourself on your PR twitter account is company damaging and can get yourself fired, especially if working for a child safe company like Nintendo.
If so, then Nintendo firing her for having a second job is to probably hide the real reason behind her termination.

Is this actually happening and, if it is, is it because they are women?
non-white
Jamaican grandfather, still look white.
The average "person of color" in America has between 24 and 32% white european DNA thanks to jungle fever during slavery, the average white person in America of anything other than nordic descent is likely to have between 9 and 18% sub-Saharan african DNA.
Color-first politics is fucking stupid.
Is this actually happening and, if it is, is it because they are women?
It sounds like the same shit people say about the catholic church and the priests who have been caught touching kids. Always blamed on atheism "hating religion", always blamed on gamergate for "hating women".
How come if you download movies you're harming the movie industry but if you download child porn your supporting the child porn industry?
How come if you download movies you're harming the movie industry but if you download child porn your supporting the child porn industry?
because by downloading a movie (as the logic goes) youre "taking away a sale". movies are made for profit, and youre removing "potential profit".
by downloading child porn youre increasing the demand, which causes the people who create cp to want to create more.

Maybe hollywood has something to learn from child porn producers.

Then again you can torture and rape a minor in Japan for 2 months before setting her on fire and killing her and get out of prison in under 20 years.

Negative social media dynamics? You mean like posting controversial opinions that can be easily traced back to you, and are damaging (to you particularly, and to the people that gave you a job that increases exposure) from a PR perspective?
