Nintendo’s Public Relations Employee Alison Rapp Now Vocal for Pedophiles

How did she get hired for that particular position in the first place?
I personally see nothing wrong with working as an escort, but surely she would have known that Nintendo did not allow her to have a second job? Like, I assume it would have been made clear in a contract or something - that's totally on her imo
(although as mentioned above, I recognize it could be a cover reason for other activities)
second job
Maybe it was just a hobby though?

Who the fuck does "Escort" as a hobby
Maybe it was just a hobby though?
Even if people did do that, which they don't, she said on Twitter she did it to pay off student loans.
It's a damn shame that Nintendo fired her for being an escort - something that's fine - and not for being a pedophile - something that's not fine.

I didn't know it was fine to moonlight as an escort while working for a kids company
I personally think it's fine, but I highly doubt Nintendo think that.
My problem isn't that she was an escort, because that's her choice and the laws surrounding that should be changed so that its safer for those who want to do that.
My problem is that she did that while working as PR for Nintendo, a company which on the whole goes for a family friendly vibe. Those two things don't really mesh. But then you have people crying "Misogyny! Gamergate!!!" while completely missing the point.
The thing is, no one found her essay, or the escort service pictures, until she already began getting harassed by people for her association with the Fates localization project. It would be a completely bullshit excuse by her if it started off with the essay and photos being found, which in turn led to the outcry against her on the Internet. But ultimately, it was that people began attacking her, a lot of people who were at the end of the day associated with the Gamergate shit to some end, for being the most public person associated in some form with the Fates localization, and began to dig into her past and find the sketchy stuff she was involved in as justification for it.

As long as you keep the two jobs entirely separate I don't see the issue. It's bullshit just like when a teacher gets fired because they used to be a stripper or something.

Nintendo's so damn focused on being family friendly that their console games line-up pretty much reflects it through and through, even the third parties are more-or-less afraid to make anything non-family friendly for Nintendo systems nowadays.
Literally, show me any R rated game for Nintendo system that sold like hotcakes, and we'd have to go back to N64 era to find a few.
Also supposedly in the contract, there's a section about having a second job while working for Nintendo in any public or influential position is a big no-no, so double down already there.
Thrown in the pedo apologist stance, and we got ourself a holy trinity of employment shitstorm.

Personally I agree
The witch hunt over Rapp was weird the whole time but it only ever got weirder thanks to her own behaviour in these events.
She probably didn't need to lose her job, but the more we learn about it the more it seems she just flaunted nintendo's rules.
I'm not able to flaunt my employers rules, I don't believe other people should be able to either.

I disagree with that too. If you can maintain a second job while still performing fine at your first one, what's the big deal?
I'd be really interested in seeing just how that contract is worded, to be honest. Can Nintendo fire someone for, say, selling crafts on Etsy on the side?

The unfortunate thing is that in our current society prostitution is currently illegal in most places, which adds to the negative perception against it. It is totally unfair, but I feel there needs to be a cultural shift before it can become more acceptable, and so safer working environments can be provided in people who wish to participate in such an industry.
If this was the job she was fired for, Nintendo most likely were motivated in firing her due to it being technically illegal, and possibly the societal stigma against it.
Is there any way that she could actually, legally be called a "pedophile" for what she wrote as
It's a damn shame that Nintendo fired her for being an escort - something that's fine - and not for being a pedophile - something that's not fine.
puts it? She expressed some radical views, to my knowledge, which doesn't actually constitute you as a pedophile nor someone who is a practicing diddler or child trafficker and not necessarily plausible cause to believe that she would even act to do anything that might turn her into a pedophile.

Again, it has to do with her being PR. You just don't want people who are supposed to be your public face, that show up in events being associated with anything other than your brand, you obviously don't want your PR people to work for the competition for example, and considering how strong Nintendo's competition is, that's a reasonable concern. They also shouldn't do anything disreputable, because the company's reputation could be tarnished by it's representatives (Like what happened in a more extreme case with Jared Fogle).
She broke those two simple rules. She fucked up and should own up to it.

Three big differences: She is currently an escort, as opposed to a former one. Stripping is legal while being an escort isn't. And her specific job is as the face of Nintendo as public relations.
If she were just some employee doing this on the side I'd give them a little more leeway but it's really hard to come down on Nintendo for not wanting one of the public faces of their company to be an escort.

technically being an escort isn't illegal either
any sex that may or may not happen while being escorted is just a coincidence

I'm not going to apologize for failing to distinguish between pedophilia and an all-out defense of child pornography
so where can i hire a session with this chick im pretty sure my dick is under average enough to the point where she'd be interested
Have the crazies tried to defend this yet?
The folks over in NeoGAF were in an uproar, saying she wouldn't have been fired if people didn't dig into her (self-publicized) private life. Never mind that she was breaking the rules of her contract with Nintendo in the first place, she didn't get caught until someone scrutinized her - somewhat like how the feds bust illegal schemes when then notice a number out of place in your tax books.

however you gotta justify it...
It's a damn shame that Nintendo fired her for being an escort - something that's fine - and not for being a pedophile - something that's not fine.
Because its easier to fire someone over breaking an actual rule, vs firing someone over bad ideology, especially in a major company like Nintendo.
People really should realize she was very much likely to have been fired for her pedo shit, but they used her escorting as a technicality to easily get her fired.
This is EXTREMELY common.

I don't think she herself is one. She supports possession of CP though, which is pretty awful.

There's nothing inaccurate about this statement at face value.
Technically her private life isn't private if she posts about it publicly online
She even posted about her... activities on twitter from years ago, even her husband was talking about it.

And on the twitter profile she used for her PR job.

Anthony Burch is out there somewhere, thinking to himself "at least I'm not Jake Rapp" as he waves goodbye to his wife as she goes off to get railed by yet another random stranger.
Man, seriously, what's wrong with people nowadays?
I don't think it's very nice to make fun of someone who clearly loved somebody, and originally believed them to share a mutual preciousness but then later found them slipping away and who is/was trying to find a way to make it work. You wouldn't laugh at vulnerable women in emotionally abusive sutuations, don't be toxic and pretend it's okay to do it to men.

If someone enjoys cuckholding that's one thing, but from what anyone knows this wasn't how he would have liked for things to happen.
