Apart from the fact that this has nothing to do with GamerGate, I'm still unsure that the NeoGAF thread is entirely wrong. They're pointing out that: a. The paper is academia, and she could have been made to write about it in college; b. The purpose of the article is to disagree with censoring games in Japan, as: I. The games are being seen out-of-context as CP, II. Japan has an entirely different culture and policing it from an outside point-of-view is wrong, III. Japan has low rates of CP, and has signed a UN-Drafted article about child molestation, which the US has not done IV. CP != Sexual Abuse (no causal link), and V. Censoring it does not solve the problem. Now, I personally don't agree with II (you should be able to criticise a country from the outside for doing things to people that are universally wrong) and IV (just because there are some pedophiles out there who 'only' have CP and never act on their urges, it doesn't mean they should be supporting the CP industry in any way.) I can't speak about I, because I've never seen those games, and I can see the point with III and V. However, this is academia we are talking about, and a long time ago. Does she still believe in it now? Did she ever believe in it in the first place? I just want to finish by saying this is not flat-out denying the original post, but rather me just trying to figure out what's going wrong. If you have pictures and stuff that shows she believed in it, and still believes in it, I will believe you. But right now, I'm not sure which side is right.

Just because I kept seeing mention of both of these, and had no idea what the hell either were. Figured that if it were the case for me, then there's probably others as well.
