still shows that intolerance is prevalent in America
I like how some people try to claim that discrimination, etc. is gone
Yes, because crimes that only represent %0.0021 of the population surely means it's prevalent and widespread in the United States!
For fucks sake, more people died from Swine Flu than became victims of these hate crimes in 2009
Because gay marriage is the only problem in the world
just goes to show the bigotry in the majority of the US if it outlaws gay marriage on a near widespread level.
down from 2008
Wait, with all those racist tea baggers protesting in 2009, how are hate crimes down?
Because gay marriage is the only problem in the world
uhh, if gay marriage is illegal in 45 states then it shows that the country is far less tolerant than other advanced nations
which was the point I was trying to make..

Dude just wait about 10 years for some of the hardcore conservatives to die out
Because gay marriage is the only problem in the world
If you were tolerant like canada it would be legal nationwide
stop with this marginalizing bull

I'm not convinced that will work.

And out of 47 countries in Europe Same-Sex Marriage is only legal in 7 of them
38.1 percent were crimes against property.
I can just see someone shooting some recliners or something and yelling "I FUCKING HATE CHAIRS FUCK"
And out of 47 countries in Europe Same-Sex Marriage is only legal in 7 of them
47 countries who govern themselves independently are not the same as 50 states in one country.

You know, they don't call the United States a 'Federal Republic' for nothing.
just goes to show the bigotry in the majority of the US if it outlaws gay marriage on a near widespread level.
I don't think it's bigotry as much as it is indifference
Oh an by the Way, same-sex marriage is legal in 6 U.S. states, and the Federal District Of Columbia, so now what?
I don't think it's bigotry as much as it is indifference
then why do people fight so hard to oppose it? if it's just indifference, why not let them?
then why do people fight so hard to oppose it? if it's just indifference, why not let them?
Because it's like pot, everyone's okay with it, but they don't want to do anything to legalize it due to all the stigmatization of it and the moralists whining
then why do people fight so hard to oppose it? if it's just indifference, why not let them?
Meh, I guess it is intolerance, but bigotry is a strong word. People are just trying to protect how they've been raised to see marriage, they don't necessarily HATE gay people, and they are probably lied to about what making gay marriage means (for example they probably thinks legalizing it will make it so churches HAVE to wed gays)
Integration helps break down stereotypes.
That's one place where we can start off/improve on.
then why do people fight so hard to oppose it? if it's just indifference, why not let them?
The only people who care about gay marriage are the ones who care enough to vote against. Most people in the US don't give a shit if they do or not.
The only people who care about gay marriage are the ones who care enough to vote against. Most people in the US don't give a shit if they do or not.
That too, it's the fundamental problem with letting people NOT vote on laws, the majority of people that care about things are people that are against it
just goes to show the bigotry in the majority of the US if it outlaws gay marriage on a near widespread level.
Gay marriage is on the verge of being nationally legal.

The point is there is a leader of the united states, there isn't a leader of Europe. Every country in europe has different constitutions and different laws.

Yes but there is a European Parliament that can pass laws that all members must follow if it doesn't conflict with their constitutions, no?

Can states skip out on laws passed by the federal government?

lol
you are overstating the power of the EU
Can states skip out on laws passed by the federal government?
Yes, depending on how much political balls they have to attempt to ignore/nullify federal law, and how much funding they get from the Federal Government
*punches black guy* Society: "FUCKING RACIST"
*punches gay guy* Society: "FUCKING HOMOPHO-oh wait we don't give a shit about gays."
Oh great. Now this is a gay marriage/US vs. Europe debate.
Anyway I thought the numbers would be higher considering the population.
So basically blacks were, statistically, more racist than whites? Love to see what TH89 has to say about this.
