They didn't do much with the LHC anyways
Bit hard to do stuff when it breaks down.
Would that goddamn particle stop fucking around with time and preventing it's own discovery, its getting fucking annoying.
The more they delay it the more cash they get.
Maybe the administrator is listening to Eli and Kleiners plead.
This just in, LHC may be a little rough round the edges. Better to wait than see it explode.

I'll bet none of you have seen this before. :rolleye:
It's not going to function in our lifetime.
didn't know the duke nukem principle applied to physics thanks for clearing that up
didn't know the duke nukem principle applied to physics thanks for clearing that up
DNF^2/3 = Episode 3 release Date
bullshit. friggin bullshit. DO SCIENCE
Anyone that thinks that black holes would form are idiots
Well, it WILL create black holes, but tiny ones that evaporate in a tiny fraction of a second.
Have you any idea of how complex this machine is? I doubt.
Actually i do, but it's still annyoing to see that there's always something wrong with it.. I'm just generally pissed that it takes so long to heat the massive tunnels up again so they can service it and then again 8 months just to cool it down. and they've done it like what 2 times now? [editline]09:59PM[/editline]
Well they can close it over and over when they find a new issue, or leave it to run at half power, and let it deteriorate, oh and then let it explode and punch a nice little ring shape into the earths surface. Your a moron, sit down shut up and play with the crayons and paper, and let them do their job.
Woah you're really witty arent you? I know for a fact that it has been a big project for them and it would be able to re-write the concept of particle physics, and that space has mass (or something like that) if higgs boson particle actually exists and they are able to find it via the LHC.. You can read about it it's actually pretty interesting. And please i don't want to start a discussion, i just can't take the fact that they never seem to get it running right, ofcouse they have to make it work right first but i can't wait for them to start it up and cranck it on full..
Tell me if I'm wrong, but the LHC is not new tech, it's just FUCKING HUGE compared to normal particle accelerators.

damn it they need to stop breaking that thing
I keep reading the name as "Large Hardon Collider."

And I have read about it, I have a mild interest in particle physics. And it's experimental technology, they are effectively trying to stop certain matter from moving, do know how difficult that is? to literally strip a particle of all it's energy, it's fucking mind boggling that we have materials that are capable of getting close to absolute zero, but they are pushing these materials to their very limits, and then pushing them more. Give them as much time as they need, it could lead to an entire rewrite of what we see the universe as. EDIT: oh and space has a vacuum, no mass, they're trying to see if we can spot dark matter/energy that's causing universal expansion, and to see if the higgs boson is real cause if it we can start to explain the mysterious force of gravity.

So i'll pass the crayon :b [editline]10:52PM[/editline]
EDIT: oh and space has a vacuum, no mass, they're trying to see if we can spot dark matter/energy that's causing universal expansion, and to see if the higgs boson is real cause if it we can start to explain the mysterious force of gravity.
i forgot, but yes this was what the other thing is they wanted to show.. also antimatter if i remember..
Yeah, so when your talking experiments that can literally rewrite everything we know about the cosmos, time is not important it's just getting the results that's important here
Yeah, so when your talking experiments that can literally rewrite everything we know about the cosmos, time is not important it's just getting the results that's important here
And i can't wait :(
Sadly we can't bend time yet, so you'll have to wait with the rest of us :v:
Fuck this i'm taking a shortcut
Fucking Higgs.
I heard this news and I was disappointed, but I'd rather they carry out their experiments with out the machinery breaking and causing an even larger repair bill. I remember reading about when they tried to build a supercollider in Texas, but they scrapped it due to the cost. The main structure was built however, and still stands as a reminder of how far the USA has fallen as an innovator of science.
I keep reading the name as "Large Hardon Collider."
wow you are so witty and clever and original I have literally never heard that before
For everyone banging on about health and safety ruining this: Health and safety ruin a lot of things. In fact they ruin a shitload of stuff that makes life uninteresting and boring, so Fuck them. But in this case it is bloody important. They are dealing with enough power to run a small city like Geneva for a month each time they turn this on and run it. 14 tetra volts is just a huge amount of energy, couple that with the tonnes of liquid helium and you have a pretty volatile mix if anything where to go wrong (not explode but fucking go crazy) I am happy that they have even had it running at low power and it has already achieved (at low power) more than they expected, so imagine once they get it running at full capacity what it can do and find. Screw how long it takes them so long as they get there in the end.
damn it they need to stop breaking that thing
On behalf of the scientists and engineers, we're sorry.
