Isn't koko the same Gorilla that wanted to mate with Robin? I'm pretty sure he even joked about it in his standup

Gorillas a a hell of a lot smarter than you think they are.

That goes for all animals actually. I used to work with parrots and I honestly thought some of them were as smart as humans in some regards.
My parrot has learned to pick locks, has taught himself new words, and can read at a first grade level.
Birds are fucking smart.
Couldn't help but be reminded of this;

Crows too, are terrifically smart. Animal intelligence really shouldn't be under estimated.

Crows have surprisingly good memory.
Don't piss off a crow, because he'll remember you, he'll tell his crow friends, and they'll all attack you next time you show up.
I watched this around the same time this thread was posted and his death hadn't really hit me until then. I didn't really expect it to hit me that hard, either. I guess the video itself didn't help.

The Corvidae family is the smartest bird family. They're the only non-mammalian species to pass the mirror test for self-recognition - specifically, the European magpie. Birds are ridiculous smart, the crow family even more so.

My mom used to work for a medical supplier, and through this, she met an old hispanic lady that had a parrot with an incredible vocabulary. It quickly learned my mom's name, and if its owner started acting, say, out of sorts, it would come closer to her and say "Petra, are you seeck?" as though with legitimate concern, and wouldn't leave her side until she assured it she was fine (I say it because I can't recall if it was male or female).
That poor bird was very much heart-broken when the lady passed on.

My dog Francis is roughly 2 1/2. Her best friend was my older dog, Dudley, who she was with since he was 15 years old.
Francis rarely slept in Dog Beds, since they were all "Dudley's Beds" :v:
So instead, she'd usually just sleep on unoccupied people beds or just off in the corner.
Then Dudley passed away this July, at 16.
She would only sleep in his main bed for like a month. She still waits at the door for Dudley to come in first when we let her out.

Where's that one greentext screencap of a dude who continually harassed crows on one side of the road while feeding crows on the other side outside his work? Ended with a huge fight between the two sides.
