im not saying that, I agree with the 18+ thing I just really wish it was not dunedin that the study was conducted in
I'm all for people doing what they want with their bodies. But we need to give them an unbiased and truthful facts about drugs, the effects, the consequences and how to practice it safely.
Just like safe sex :v:
are you seriously insinuating that drugs only affect the user??
you do understand that most psychological studies are based off of correlation and are usually 100% theory
would that not imply that, oh i dunno, they might be inaccurate? i wouldn't go as far as to say that 'all modern science' is based off of loose correlative data from 1000 people.
shit you're right I'll call the government and tell them to call off all sociology, psychology, psychiatry, and infectious disease courses
are you seriously insinuating that drugs only affect the user??
most drugs do only affect the user
are you seriously insinuating that drugs only affect the user??
yes, most of the time
I wish the people blindly defending cannabis would fuck off you dont help at all you make us look like a bunch of fuckwits

Dont ever act like it has no negatives

Yeah bro - I remember last time I took LSD my friend got a heart attack.

see. you criticize others for not using 'the scientific method' then when you come across a point you can't answer to, you become a blabbering 12 year old. there are so many more factors in this study than that of marijuana and you cannot seem to admit that
Yeah bro - I remember last time I took LSD my friend got a heart attack.
Are you sure it was lsd not a DOX?

I actually didn't see a single person in this thread who flat-out said that weed is harmless.
Oh my argument is invalid because I talked about political science, how nice
Well yes, when you try to include a bullshit science in your reasoning, you tend to be wrong.
I do like how you are harping on the study, though. "Well I don't think they did it right." Yeah, professional researchers with actual experience in the field did it wrong. What is your qualification, exactly? High school diploma? Some college? And these professionals got it wrong because you feel they didn't take things into account properly.
I said that this study needs to be performed more than once, in more than one area, and with more than just one team. By doing this, most of the extraneous factors can be accounted for. But good job by taking the extreme, really puts your point across.
but they told the truth about their illegal drug use right
Did you even read the article
No, I just happened to find quotes randomly that, by coincidence, were related to what I was saying. :downs:
The illegal-ness has nothing to do with it. I don't know you at all, a fact I'm actually proud of, but even a closet nerd would know that many drinkers will lie about the amount they actually drink.
I'm going to make a guess and say that the source of your uptightness originates from a lack of social life/having fun, and I urgently suggest you do something to reverse that. It's your life though, after all.
see. you criticize others for not using 'the scientific method' then when you come across a point you can't answer to, you become a blabbering 12 year old. there are so many more factors in this study than that of marijuana and you cannot seem to admit that
Yeah and they've been accounted for
If you're going to attack the study for not being a proper study it needs to be more than useless conjecture
Young people either get a decrease or increase of IQ at a certain time during their teen years. It's not the cannabis.
Ever heard of a control sample?
Young people either get a decrease or increase of IQ at a certain time during their teen years. It's not the cannabis.
says the scientific expert shiftyze....
After my careful study of scout1's replies and arguments, I can conclude that everyone in this thread is at risk of a significant and permanent IQ decrease.

JFC another debate.
I smoke pot, while I can still function and shit, I've noticed my math and writing skills specifically have gone down the shitter. A lot of smokers realize this shit, don't generalize and think that we all just deny the fact that it will hurt your brain.

And yes, there is a way to abuse drugs responsibly, but not many can do it well.
My mom was a coke addict and I have went to multiple drug houses as a toddler to sit and fucking play by myself while my mom got high.
My mom was a coke addict and I have went to multiple drug houses as a toddler to sit and fucking play by myself while my mom got high.
I'm sorry you had to endure that, I really am, but you can't compare that shit to weed, no way.
Indeed, both very different substances. Still that doesn't mean coca and it's alkaloids cannot be used responsibly.
I dont think bluesky is comparing considering he is a weed smoker
I'm saying that there's a certain point in your life (preschool age) in which you're supposed to learn social skills and such. It's a real level of psychological development, I can't think of the name.
My parents where too poor to take me to preschool, and while my dad worked I went to drug houses with my mom only to play by myself, it was either that or my aunts house in which I could at least play with my cousin who's the same age. What I'm getting at is by kindergarten I was so far behind everyone else. I hadn't ever colored before, until my teacher handed me a piece of paper and crayons, I didn't even know what to do with them.
It's no surprise I like to sit on my computer alone for hours, it's how I grew up, it's comforting kind of. My mom fucked me over so badly, in so many ways she probably hasn't even realized it. I can barely hold a fucking relationship with anyone.

also to people saying that n= 1000 is bad, please read this
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_large_numbers
once you get past a thousand or two thousand, you get diminishing returns on accuracy the more subjects you add. do you realise how fucking difficult it is to conduct a study with n=1000, especially over such a long timespan? you're being quite unreasonable in your standards for evidence. apply your skepticism evenly.
YOLO

Why couldn't they conduct this study all over the world in different regions and environments? You could conduct the same study in my school and say that 90% of the students in Canada are drug addicts.
