one is a medieval fantasy game and one is a sci fi trilogy? I think the first DA game sucked so I'm not the one to consult on that
how does that change how the stories are told hell, they have the same progression. you're a special little snowflake who has to gather up a bunch of people to fight a race of evil big bads before they do big bad things. how are they so different?
again just assuming, and "sucking" is subjective. even if the races are stranded, you're looking at it as glass half empty. as long as someone survived, shep beat the reapers.
True, but if the galaxy is in the shitter then I'm not sure I consider it a victory. I'll be honest, I didn't beat the Reapers because of the galaxy, I beat the reapers because of my squad. I wanted them to be happy and........now I don't know what happens to them.
the presentation and aesthetics of the games, the morals and messages conveyed in both games, as well as the genre

[editline]21st March 2012[/editline] okay then
Yeah, nearly all scientific and cultural progress is obliterated as the populations of thousands of planets starve to death and are isolated from each other for millenia meanwhile Earth and everyone around it is also dying a slow and horrible "death at sea" as it were nice victory [editline]21st March 2012[/editline]
the presentation and aesthetics of the games, the morals and messages conveyed in both games, as well as the genre
how are the morals or presentation different

I don't know how to explain to you that DA and ME are completely different series sorry ): [editline]21st March 2012[/editline]
the reapers dont have emotions they're cthulhu robots they're incapable of caring whether or not they've been beaten
I was referring to the squadmates
that's like asking if the volcano at Pompeii was proud of it's victory over the town
again I was referring to the squadmates
I don't know how to explain to you that DA and ME are completely different series sorry ): [editline]21st March 2012[/editline] I was referring to the squadmates
then you don't know how stories work and you should shut up about them I'm sure that will bring them great comfort as they slowly starve to death, either in the dessicated wastes of Earth or on Jungleplanet
Yeah, nearly all scientific and cultural progress is obliterated as the populations of thousands of planets starve to death and are isolated from each other for millenia meanwhile Earth and everyone around it is also dying a slow and horrible "death at sea" as it were nice victory [editline]21st March 2012[/editline] how are the morals or presentation different
Pretty much the worst victory ever, in my opinion. The only thing good about the ending is that the Reapers are out of the equation, yet the rest of the galaxy is entirely fucked. Qualifies more of a downer ending than a bittersweet.
I'm really tired of Mass Effect 3 can we move on
you're a lot like shepard you spend a lot of time talking and reaffirming your position, but in the end you just say fuck it and give up no wonder you like the endings so much
Alright, now you're taking it into the realm of insults. Let's dial it back a few notches, please.
ahhh reverse psychology unhand my mind foul monster
i had to turn into blueberry flavored electricity to get this mind controlling ability and I'm damn well gonna use it
Alright, now you're taking it into the realm of insults. Let's dial it back a few notches, please.
Sorry, I was on a roll. [editline]21st March 2012[/editline]
That's more of a backhanded compliment
Not sure what a backhanded complement is, but yeah, what he said.
how does that change how the stories are told hell, they have the same progression. you're a special little snowflake who has to gather up a bunch of people to fight a race of evil big bads before they do big bad things. how are they so different?
I dunno, I always felt that the Mass Effect universe felt much more realized and alive. That, and Dragon Age didn't let you blow up an annoying loudmouth party member with a nuke.
I dunno, I always felt tha That, and Dragon Age didn't let you blow up an annoying loudmouth party member with a nuke.
Well no, but you could stab him in the throat.
Well no, but you could stab him in the throat.
Him?
Him?

I'm talking about Morrigan, everyone where I go it was "Morrigan disapproves -10", and when I found that book, she asks me to kill Flemeth, and I'm like, "Flemeth brought me back from the dead, what did you do besides complain about everything I do?"
you're a lot like shepard you spend a lot of time talking and reaffirming your position, but in the end you just say fuck it and give up no wonder you like the endings so much
you're mean
I'm talking about Morrigan, everyone where I go it was "Morrigan disapproves -10", and when I found that book, she asks me to kill Flemeth, and I'm like, "Flemeth brought me back from the dead, what did you do besides complain about everything I do?"
you could always just dump her in camp and replace her with the old bitch with schizophrenia
he's saying you can't please everyone. they told the story they wanted to tell and changing it now, would be compromising that and just pandering to their audience to please them rather than creating their own vision
Thing is this wasn't the story they wanted to tell. They changed the original plan
The original motivation for the Reapers was as follows. "The Reapers' goal was to find a way to stop the spread of Dark Energy which would eventually consume everything. That's why there was so much foreshadowing about Dark Energy in ME2. The Reapers as a whole were 'nations' of people who had fused together in the most horrific way possible to help find a way to stop the spread of the Dark Energy. The real reason for the Human Reaper was supposed to be the Reapers saving throw because they had run out of time. Humanity in Mass Effect is supposedly unique because of it's genetic diversity and represented the universe's best chance at stopping Dark Energy's spread. The original final choice was going to be "Kill the Reapers and put your faith in the races of the galaxy in finding another way to stop the spread with what little time is left" or "Sacrifice humanity, allowing them to be horrifically processed in hopes that the end result will justify the means." The SomethingAwful guy then goes on to say that all the foreshadowing about dark energy in ME2 (including Haestrom) is never brought up again in ME3.

you're mean
on the inside i really just want a hug but not from you because i'd have to argue about mass effect at the same time and it just wouldn't work
