You are being to dramatic and emotional that you are not seeing how pointless all your "non-human" bullshit is. Who gives a fuck if a guy gives shit to you, what the fuck is he going to do? What impact does he have on you? None, so why are you going to let him get into your head? If you don't like feeling "not-human", then don't continue being the thing that makes you feel like you don't belong! It's so god damn simple, but your emotions on how people think of you cloud your judgement. Those people who call you fat don't go on with their day thinking about how fat you are and how they're going to rip on you, they won't do anything! It barely effects their day, which should only mean it should effect yours less, because fuck those random ass people you will never see again or however long they're around. You just gotta do what you do, if you want to get a healthy body, it's not hard at all. Getting slimmer takes no time. The hard part people talk about is when you want a fit muscle toned body. And if you like being large, all the power to you. Don't let what people say cloud your judgement.
The bolded bit is a dickhead thing to say; you can't justify making people feel ashamed for being a certain way, and you certainly can't tell someone to stop being fat if they don't like being made felt bad for being fat. I agree with the rest of what you said in that paragraph though. But for some, getting slim isn't 'not hard at all'

He was pretty nice, and I'm sure he has my best interests in mind.
haha most of facepunch (AKA naturally born scrawny teens) criticizing people for being overweight no matter the reason (which there are varieties of)
did you even read any of this thread or did you just jump on in and make an assumption about our reactions to the article
...just read the article
I did. It's the complete opposite of what you claimed. You said metabolism and weight have a negative correlation. The article shows that metabolism and weight are not correlated.
Metabolism varies little between people of similar height and weight. http://www.bbc.co.uk/health/treatments/healthy_living/your_weight/medical_myths.shtml
That article talks about basal metabolic rate Most definitely not the only factor affecting the calories in/calories out equation
I did. It's the complete opposite of what you claimed. You said metabolism and weight have a negative correlation. The article shows that metabolism and weight are not correlated.
You clearly lack all reading comprehension abilities then. I'm done here. I said people with similar height and weight have pretty much the same energy requirements. There is no such thing as a slow or fast metabolism, and that's what the article says [editline]24th January 2013[/editline]
That article talks about basal metabolic rate Most definitely not the only factor affecting the calories in/calories out equation
Are you fucking retarded Calories in > calories out = weight gain Calories in = calories out = weight stable Calories in < calories out = weight loss BMR is your basal metabolic rate, aka the natural "metabolism" that everyone talks about
oh god if only we didn't celebrate being fat in this modern society we might not have many fat people at all! i mean we practically worship these guys. i can't look at one magazine, one commercial without seeing some fatass being paid to stuff their face.
is this sarcasm? I legitimately can't tell
is this sarcasm? I legitimately can't tell
It's sarcasm
http://money.aol.co.uk/2013/01/22/fat-crash-victims-80-more-likely-to-die/ The fatter you are the less likely it is that you'll survive a car crash, and just in case you all deride as AOL news, http://emj.bmj.com/content/early/2013/01/16/emermed-2012-201859.short?g=w_emj_ahead_tab Don't forget the fact that being overweight can make you more likely to develop diabetes, as well as heart disease and stroke, although those are caused by high levels of cholesterol which isn't necessarily caused by being overweight but from poor diet, although they frequently happen together anyway.
why do you hate fat people so much?
I actually kinda wish I had a little more weight. No matter how much I eat I'm still thin, people think I have bulimia.

Here is a study on the effects of being overweight http://ajph.aphapublications.org/doi/pdf/10.2105/AJPH.73.2.171 And here is a pretty good quote from it.
A second possibility is to work toward legitimizing being moderately overweight. Because being moderately overweight does not seem to have clear physical health risks, trying to lose weight and not being successful at it may do more harm than good.

No your basal metabolic rate is the amount of calories you'd burn in a day if you exerted absolutely no energy other than the energy your body naturally exerts to stay alive (ie, laid in bed all day)
Exactly, so variation in calories burned is almost entirely due to activity level
Fat people are the only ones who fuck up, it takes a lot of time, unhealthy binge eating, complete lack of exercise and an overall shit lifestyle to be really fat fat people should be given basic instructions, put down the fucking fork, go outside and fucking run, at least skinny phaggots have the common courtesy of having a similar lifestyle without eating so fucking much

i've never understood the sheer hatred against fat people. It's fucking crazy. what the fuck did they ever do, rape your sister and shit in your food? I'm talking about stuff like this:
Fat people are the only ones who fuck up, it takes a lot of time, unhealthy binge eating, complete lack of exercise and an overall shit lifestyle to be really fat fat people should be given basic instructions, put down the fucking fork, go outside and fucking run, at least skinny phaggots have the common courtesy of having a similar lifestyle without eating so fucking much
Those dots are all over the place)

See how it eliminates gullible idiots and then nothing changes.
Fuck anyone who thinks fat-shaming does anything good. Making people suffer because you don't like how they look is grade-A asshattery
I don't know what to think about fat-shaming, but the point is that it's not about the looks. It's about the health implications brought forth by obesity, which by the way is a billion dollar problem for countries of the western world. Not to mention that obesity is on the rise and making it acceptable in forms of fat rights groups and protraying obesity as a good thing in mainstream media is not going to help anybody in the long run. Oh and someone wanted a example about what makes it better not being fat. Well how about the drastically longer life expectany and yes i know about this "healthy fat people and unhealthy thin people" study and even they say thats the minority. We have to prevent people from lying to themselves about their medical problems.
and protraying obesity as a good thing in mainstream media is not going to help anybody in the long run.
Who does this? I've never seen anyone portray obesity as a good thing. Unless you are talking about being chubby; which should be acceptable and not frowned upon
Please don't compare underweight and obese people, an obese person only has to eat less, an underweight person has to workout to gain weight generally, rather than being told to eat more (wouldn't be healthy to).
Please don't compare underweight and obese people, an obese person only has to eat less, an underweight person has to workout to gain weight generally, rather than being told to eat more (wouldn't be healthy to).
Except it doesn't work like that either I hardly eat anything anymore due to losing my appetite but I don't lose weight. It's a combination of burning calories and reducing intake that reduces your weight.
Except it doesn't work like that either I hardly eat anything anymore due to losing my appetite but I don't lose weight. It's a combination of burning calories and reducing intake that reduces your weight.
You know hibernation? losing weight can be like that, you lower your intake enough to burn off your fat and calorie intake. "I hardly eat anything anymore" i bet this is compared to what you were eating, and now you eat normally, you have to eat less than normal to lose weight.
Most people these days are raised with the notion that being fat/overweight is a bad thing. This is a concept which is really being enforced these days as obesity is getting worse. People such as that guy you quoted and others who mock overweight people most likely do it because it makes them feel as though they are in a superior position to those they are mocking.
Hell, I feel a bit bad for having gained a bit of a belly and a tiny bit of face-weight over the past 6 months I mean it's hardly anything - perhaps 5kg - and it's hardly noticable unless you're looking for it But I notice that I feel a bit ashamed of that. So i can't imagine how unfairly awful some legitimately 'overweight' people must feel
