Hell, I feel a bit bad for having gained a bit of a belly and a tiny bit of face-weight over the past 6 months I mean it's hardly anything - perhaps 5kg - and it's hardly noticable unless you're looking for it But I notice that I feel a bit ashamed of that. So i can't imagine how unfairly awful some legitimately 'overweight' people must feel
When you learn to accept what you are, or just plain don't care about it, it becomes really easy. That goes for anything.
I don't know what to think about fat-shaming, but the point is that it's not about the looks. It's about the health implications brought forth by obesity, which by the way is a billion dollar problem for countries of the western world. Not to mention that obesity is on the rise and making it acceptable in forms of fat rights groups and protraying obesity as a good thing in mainstream media is not going to help anybody in the long run. Oh and someone wanted a example about what makes it better not being fat. Well how about the drastically longer life expectany and yes i know about this "healthy fat people and unhealthy thin people" study and even they say thats the minority. We have to prevent people from lying to themselves about their medical problems.
No you don't have to do shit If people want to be in denial that's their business Pretty sure there was a study that showed that en masse, obese people end up costing the healthcare system less in the long run, because they don't have to deal with these people into very old age and keep 100 year old men and women alive for far longer than they were supposed to be And if they're not fussed about losing an extra few years, then that's also their business [editline]26th January 2013[/editline]
When you learn to accept what you are, or just plain don't care about it, it becomes really easy. I guess it'll be very character building to put up with it for a few months longer though!
Well, you either do something about it or shrug it off. It's all on you. I make it sound easy, but its rather challenging, more so mentally. More power to you whatever you choose to do.
Another solution: Use chainsaws to remove fat,it works 100%
What a boring existence. Everybody who enjoys life frequently does things that are unhealthy or dangerous. Pot, skydiving, gaming all evening, eating high-calorie food. Except only one of those in excess changes your appearance so only one is stigmatized on facepunch
Eating high calorie food once in a while won't change your appearance. You can enjoy unhealthy eating every once in a while just like how it's alright to spend one or two evenings a week doing nothing but gaming.
In other news, self-harm and suicide through the ceiling.
And maybe even some chubby school shooters, as well.
I honestly don't like fat people, but I wouldn't go around calling them names and shit to get them to be more like me. I just avoid them in as nice of a manner as possible.
I honestly don't like fat people, but I wouldn't go around calling them names and shit to get them to be more like me. I quickly crossed to the other side of the street before passing them but they noticed I did this. They shot me a look and I was TERRIFIED, as we have all heard the stories of fat people causing trouble, especially in the neighbourhood I was in. Just last week a gang of fat people (well one person, but he was probably in a gang, most are) robbed a convenience store! Now I'm not an asshole, some of my best friends are fat, but does anyone else think that fat culture promotes crime and thuggery? Especially their music and baggy clothing? Personally I'm glad I live in a gated community where there are no fat people.

Also Being a certain race does not have major health problems and long term consequences for society. Obesity does.
Because people are born fat. Also Being a certain race does not have major health problems and long term consequences for society. Obesity does.
Obesity doesn't cover the entire range of being fat. You can be overweight, which hasn't been proven to have any significant health impact. Also there are some genetic diseases that are significantly more common in certain people. I believe Sickle cell anaemia is more common in Black people and Tay-Sachs is more common in certain groups of Jewish people.
Good
Just gonna put this out here. I'm 140 kg and this fat shaming thing doesn't work at all. All it does is make me feel less than human, like something to just be made fun of. It doesn't motivate me to lose my weight at all. If you wanna see people lose weight, how about you put a little effort into it yourself, curb your bigotry, shut up, and let more positive influences take over that person's life. If there's anyone here who actually HATES fat people, well I hope you're ashamed, because congratulations, you are a horrible person.
Get a grip. I don't hate anyone for their weight (big or small), but blaming it on others is just pathetic. [editline]26th January 2013[/editline]
haha most of facepunch (AKA naturally born scrawny teens) criticizing people for being overweight no matter the reason (which there are varieties of)
So FP is either fat, sweaty nerds or naturally born scrawny teens, depending on what you need for your argument? This is an international community with lots of people and I can assure you that not everyone fits in the same bounding box you just made up.
Because people are born fat. Also Being a certain race does not have major health problems and long term consequences for society. Obesity does.
Actually yeah it is pretty easy to be born fat lol
Actually yeah it is pretty easy to be born fat lol
Everyone has the capability to not be fat
Everyone has the capability to not be fat
That's not entirely true. Mental disorders, illnesses (ex. diabetes) and stuff like that can fuck with your weight-loss. When talking about healthy people, yes - everyone has the capability to lose weight.
Everyone has the capability to not be fat
Not as easy as everyone else. Some people have vastly harder times. Don't be stupid.
Because people are born fat.
If it was discovered that sexuality was actually a choice would it be okay to insult gay people? No.
Also Being a certain race does not have major health problems and long term consequences for society. Obesity does.
Not a factor that should contribute to whether or not you act like a decent human being to others. Sorry. You can't justify your hate like this, as I already explained by alluding to religious people who do the same thing [editline]25th January 2013[/editline]
That's not entirely true. Mental disorders, illnesses (ex. diabetes) and stuff like that can fuck with your weight-loss. Great for padding my weight loss stats! It's shocking how people are so willing to accept that medication can do this while simultaneously parroting the "calories in < calories out IT'S EASY" line. There are so many fucking factors that affect the "calories out" part of the equation
Because people are born fat. Also Being a certain race does not have major health problems and long term consequences for society. Obesity does.
Boo hoo, everything has consequences for society 'Oh no some of my tax money is going towards making fat people not sick' It's also going towards building roads because of those dicks who don't want to bike to work, supporting low-income families and keeping old people alive [editline]26th January 2013[/editline] but gosh darn it those old people if they had any sense of common decency they'd just roll themselves off a building or something and stop burdening society I mean damn
Because people are born fat. Also Being a certain race does not have major health problems and long term consequences for society. Obesity does.
okay we may as well cut off social security support to people who legit need it in accordance to your views
I don't understand why they care if a person is fat.. if the man whats to be hefty let him be...
this is what I've been saying this whole time! BULLYING WORKS!
I don't understand the mindset of "oh they're costing me tax money" Maybe you don't use roads, do you come online and complain about how drivers are costing you tax money? Probably not. Joe Fatguy over there pays his taxes too, and is probably helping subsidize something he doesn't use but you do So get over it
If someone is fully aware of the consequences of being obese and is willing to accept them, fine. Whatever. I will never understand why someone would choose to be so unhealthy, but it's not really my business. However, childhood obesity due to parents neglecting to mind their kids' health is wrong. Like it or not, obesity is objectively bad for your health. If you're an adult who supports yourself and you wanna take on the risk, go for it. But parents shouldn't be essentially forcing it upon their kids. [editline]25th January 2013[/editline] And shaming fat people isn't cool, even if it does help them lose weight. The only type of weight loss shaming fat people will produce will be an unhealthy, knee-jerk reaction. If someone who is obese wants to get down to a healthy weight, I think that's fantastic, but it needs to be their choice, not someone else's.
Well, we've had years of trying to find easier and easier alternatives for fatties and people still go and eat more than they need so why do these kind of shitty ideas come as a surprise?

Rated dumb by probable fat-kid. The only point I'm trying to make is: It's never been easier to choose to have less weight. Get up, spend copious amounts of money on designer athletic clothing and then go for a run - you'll hate it, but then just do it again a week or so later. At some point it'll all click into place and you'll be running every couple of days. I just can't comprehend people who continue to sit there and eat when they're grossly over-weight. This news comes as no surprise to me. I think society is out of ideas to tear you all you tub-tubs away from your PCs.

I'm dumbing you because you think it's that easy for anyone and everyone. It's really funny how you take a dumb to instantly suppose anyone who disagrees with you must be fat. Does it offend you some people like to eat foods and spend time as they please because they can? What if they're happier than you? Who are you to decide what is better or what is more right? That's why i'm dumbing you
