So if I were to believes that being hit by a car would not harm me, then that would be fact within my perceptive universe? The only way that can be true is if if I were actually hit by a car and were not harmed, and obviously I would be. Regardless of any philosophy, the simple fact is that believing you are invincible does does make it so.
yea, in your mind that would be true, the rules of the physical world are secondary to rules of the mind because our mind creates those rules [editline]15th June 2011[/editline]
You're bad at this.
really? in my universe im alright
yea, in your mind that would be true, the rules of the physical world are secondary to rules of the mind because our mind creates those rules [editline]15th June 2011[/editline] really? in my universe im alright
You're misconstruing objective reality as observed by subjective creatures with some sort of wishy-washy New Age "If you believe it, it's true!" horseshit. [editline]15th June 2011[/editline] So yes, you're bad at this.
yea, in your mind that would be true, the rules of the physical world are secondary to rules of the mind because our mind creates those rules [editline]15th June 2011[/editline] really? in my universe im alright
You are completely missing the point of subjective fact.
yea, in your mind that would be true, the rules of the physical world are secondary to rules of the mind because our mind creates those rules
So now you're saying that there are rules of the physical world? What happened to
the physical world does not exist without your subjective perception
And for clarity, you are attempting to tell me, with a straight face, that if I jump in front of a car I will be unharmed so long as I really believe I'll be unharmed?
So we want fucked up incest babies? really? or kids with terrible lives knowing rape made them? This is stupid.
So now you're saying that there are rules of the physical world? What happened to And for clarity, you are attempting to tell me, with a straight face, that if I jump in front of a car I will be unharmed so long as I really believe I'll be unharmed?
yawmwen isn't what I call 'bright' really.
So we want fucked up incest babies? really?
Santorum does. Think about it, he could be starting an incestuous mutant army.
yea, in your mind that would be true, the rules of the physical world are secondary to rules of the mind because our mind creates those rules [editline]15th June 2011[/editline] really? in my universe im alright
In this logic, I 'am the one', and I am the rebirth of Jesus Christ. I cannot be physically harmed in any way.
yawmwen isn't what I call 'bright' really.
Well I think we can all agree on that.
You are completely missing the point of subjective fact.
i dont think i am
In this logic, I 'am the one', and I am the rebirth of Jesus Christ.
thats good for you and in my reality your just another faceless person [editline]15th June 2011[/editline]
And for clarity, you are attempting to tell me, with a straight face, that if I jump in front of a car I will be unharmed so long as I really believe I'll be unharmed?
prove to me that it isnt true
i dont think i am
Oh believe me you are. [editline]16th June 2011[/editline]
prove to me that it isnt true
I'm afraid the burden of proof is strongly on you in this situation.
i dont think i am thats good for you and in my reality your just another faceless person [editline]15th June 2011[/editline] prove to me that it isnt true
He doesn't need to, your too much of a psychopath to understand actual physical nature and facts.
Oh believe me you are. [editline]16th June 2011[/editline] I'm afraid the burden of proof is strongly on you in this situation.
If I could ban yawmwen for every stupid post he's made, he'd be fucked.
If I could ban yawmwen for every stupid post he's made, he would be banned from real life... forever.
It's okay you just need to believe you can ban him.
It's okay you just need to believe you can ban him.
I just banned him with my mi- oh wait, thats impossible!
i dont think i am
No you really are. You can't point subjectively at something that is objective. Saying that getting hit by a car will harm you is objective. Talking about how you felt when you got hit by the car is subjective. Saying that you didn't get physically harmed by the car because in your mind you don't believe cars can harm you is just dumb. Unless you are talking about metaphysical idealism, which I won't get into how dumb you are being with it if you are.
Oh believe me you are.
no im not
I'm afraid the burden of proof is strongly on you in this situation.
im afraid the burden of proof is on you [editline]16th June 2011[/editline]
He doesn't need to, your too much of a psychopath to understand actual physical nature and facts.
you are the greater psychopath
im afraid the burden of proof is on you
Yes you're right it's entirely my responsibility to prove that the the entireity of reality isn't determined by the electrical impulses firing between people neurons. [editline]16th June 2011[/editline]
you are the greater psychopath
Keep going man this is gold.
Yes you're right it's entirely my responsibility to prove that the the entireity of reality isn't determined by the electrical impulses firing between people neurons.
yea, i am right
Keep going man this is gold.
k
yea, i am right
Really? Because that sounds like a statement of fact to me. I thought there was no such thing as fact. In fact, if everything is subjective, then nothing anyone says can be wrong, so why are you still here arguing with me?
Really? Because that sounds like a statement of fact to me. I thought there was no such thing as fact. I'm just going to say this yawmwen. Metaphysical subjectivity has no place in an argument about abortion, or anywhere in politics for that matter.
I'm just going to say this yawmwen. Metaphysical subjectivity has no place in an argument about abortion, or anywhere in politics for that matter.
its thisguy0s fault, he pushed me on it
its thisguy0s fault, he pushed me on it
So were you just being subjective with all your opinions in this thread or metaphysically subjective?
So were you just being subjective with all your opinions in this thread or metaphysically subjective?
i dunno both neither
Okay answer me this because I genuinely am interested. If you really believe that their is no objective reality, and that all that exists is individual perception, then where do you propose that human consciousness originated from in the first place?
Okay answer me this because I genuinely am interested. If you really believe that their is no objective reality, and that all that exists is individual perception, then where do you propose that human consciousness originated from in the first place?
from a philosophical perspective it originated from nowhere, our consciousness was simply born when our physical body matured enough.
Don't question him... he is the ONE!!!! :downs:
really i thought you were the one [editline]16th June 2011[/editline] or at least i thought you thought you were the one
from a philosophical perspective it originated from nowhere, our consciousness was simply born when our physical body matured enough.
What do you mean by 'physical body?' Surely physical, by very definition, means something that exists indepenently of perception.
What do you mean by 'physical body?' Surely physical, by very definition, means something that exists indepenently of perception.
there is a physical world, and it exists somewhat independently of perception, but perception shapes the physical world completely, and in fact your own personal perception created the physical world at the same time the physical world created your personal perception again this is purely philosophical

You are right that it is impossible to have a truly objective view of the world, but there is still an objective world there that we are basing our perceptions, and our 'personal realities' on.
