what do you not get
single people are not forbidden from marriage for being single they just aren't married. comparing single people to homosexual people makes literally no sense
You said marriage was a "basic human right" as in something you are granted just by being a person. Marriage benefits are not something you are granted just by existing.
Homosexual couples have been proven scientifically to have major benefits over regular parents.
If you don't agree with this, it doesn't make you homophopic, it makes you a ignorant retard.
He wasn't saying gay parents can't be on par with straight couples at raising children. You said that there was scientific proof that there are major benefits.

Why should we give a shit ? It's a coincidence that won't get anywhere.
Seriously, gay couples happen to be better parents (which is very likely more due to having to prove themselves as parents more than others than being actually gay). What now ? Outlaw straight couples and only give adoption procedures to gay couples ?
The Bible isn't a science book. The Gospels in there are written by different people with different opinions or thoughts about how they received Jesus's word.
i hear this all the time but if jesus really existed why would there be a dispute?
there wouldnt be
No, he still is a Jesuit (it's an order of Catholicism, why would he give up his belief?), and he's rather progressive, especially compared to the last pope.
I don't mean his belief, rather, his position. He's no longer a jesuit, he's the Pope.
His doctrine and belief are quite in line with the previous one, difference being Ratzinger was more of a desk man, so he obviously didn't have the charisma Bergoglio has. Bergogolio was here a man who would travel by underground, he would walk to the parishes/Cathedrals and sat down to drink mate with others. That guy has got "calle" (street), like we say here.
Point is, Bergoglio/Francis goes more for action than thought, and that is were they differ (mainly).
i hear this all the time but if jesus really existed why would there be a dispute?

There is a dispute because some people don't believe he existed.
I don't even have to explain why your logic/sylogism is wrong. Come on dude.
i hear this all the time but if jesus really existed why would there be a dispute?

There still would be. There are always disputes.

Almost all of the sources site at least 1 major benefit to gay parents.
If your purpose was not just to win the argument like what you're doing right now, you would easily find what you're looking for.
I think what Dori is saying is that marriage lends more legal rights than a plain civil partnership does, and gay couples can't get those extra rights
I don't mean his belief, rather, his position. He's no longer a jesuit, he's the Pope.
He's still considered a Jesuit.

For someone who's been around since 2005, you're certainly defying a trend by gradually becoming worse and worse at posting.
There still would be. There are always disputes.
surely if a god walked among the earth there would be no disputes
the fact that there is confusion makes it highly likely that all of this is pure bullshit - which it is sorry

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. I'm pretty sure he was being ironical to make the same point.

I've always thought the most orthodox branch of Christianity was Orthodoxy :v:
I think what Dori is saying is that marriage lends more legal rights than a plain civil partnership does, and gay couples can't get those extra rights
yes, essentially (http://lesbianlife.about.com/cs/wedding/a/unionvmarriage.htm)

that was my point. that's what "separate but equal" is
I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. I'm pretty sure he was being ironical to make the same point.
Looking back on his post, you're right. That just makes my own post ironic :v:
I still don't get why he completely disregarded my earlier points about the pope not outright condemning homosexuality, though, which he continues to spew about. His argument is based on the pope not agreeing with homosexuality, which somehow translates to being a hateful bigot, which he clearly isn't. Who is really being a bigot here? I agree with his points about gay marriage but it's such a derail from the thread
Almost all of the sources site at least 1 major benefit to gay parents.

Then please pick one and list the major benefits that were proven using scientific means. You made the claim, then said anyone who disagrees is an "ignorant retard", now prove it. Your laziness is not an excuse to make someone else argue for you.
Of course there is, making it ever more ridiculous. None the less, the quote goes against what the Pope said
Well the pope is supposedly always in contact with God, the Bible is ancient, therefore, what the pope says is more up to date
surely if a god walked among the earth there would be no disputes

Dude, you just lack Kant and Descartes.
He's still considered a Jesuit.
Shit, got confused.
I mean, he's no longer a Jesuit in practice (Pope) but thinks like a Jesuit.
LOL, the word marriage actually is discriminating :pwn:
It's good that he thinks that way, but it also, at the same time, shows what a joke the pope and the catholic church is since it's not even slightly biblical.
I mean if they can just say the opposite of the Bible then what's even the point of them even existing? It's basically a totally separate religion at that point.
It's good that he thinks that way, but it also, at the same time, shows what a joke the pope and the catholic church is since it's not even slightly biblical.

popes have always been said to be in direct contact with god, so the word of the pope can override the word of the bible. with that in mind it's obvious why they exist

Being progressive does involve disregarding more and more parts of the original source material. It's a rather good thing in my opinion.

Letter of the law < Spirit of the law
The bible is supposed to be a guidebook of sorts, not a rule book. It isn't something to take at face value, or worse, literally. People who do this aren't getting the message
with all this stuff he's shaping up to probably win "person of the year", not that it matters much. i'd rather see him there than boston bombers. first responders to oklahoma and boston would actually be cool to see. but yeah, the pope isn't perfect but i really like him so far.
Sweet, so I can worship the devil on the off chance he's no actually that bad. And if it turns out he is pretty bad I'm all good.
Thanks pope
I said it once and I'm saying it again: Pope Francis is Sayin' mass and Kickin' ass.

Actually no if you do bad things you're still being a bad person.
What he means is, not believing in god or being gay or whatever doesn't mean you'll go to hell.
Is that from the old or new testament though ? I'm fairly certain Catholics only follow the first testament.
Also yeah the bible has been written by several people and I'm fairly certain not all of them agreed on everything, hence the parts that contradict each other.
Ephesians is New Testament, yo.
Ephesians is New Testament, yo.
