super pope
the Catholic church is one of the least conservative churches.
I don't know what a ad hominem is but it's a word I've seen used by a lot of idiots who think it's apparently a magic word that makes them right all the time.
are you being intentionally ironic [editline]24th May 2013[/editline]
This thread alone convinced me that the hardass atheists/anti-theists won't stop for shit.
why should they stop
439 subjects and topics, most of which have multiple contradictions
Most of those are like "Theres a difference in how many men died or how long the famine lasted atheists 1 christians 0" I am an atheist before anyone jumps down my throat but the number of retards online who hate religion make me reconsider that label.
Pope Frankie is a bro
Oh yay we've all been redeemed by the Blood of Christ that's exactly what I wanted which is clearly why I'm an atheist.
I don't get why people would say this. Who wouldn't want to go to heaven? I'm an atheist and I'd love to go to heaven if I believed in it. "Oh, heaven sounds boring even though by definition it'd never be a place you wouldn't want to go (otherwise it wouldn't be heaven). I think I'll be an atheist instead so that after I die, fucking nothing happens." Do people actually think like that? I always considered atheism simply being disbelief of Christianity because there's no evidence for it and it doesn't really fit with the way the world works in reality. Not because they actually WANTED the universe to work that way.

Pfft. Any Catholic would know booze is at the centre of their faith
This thread alone convinced me that the hardass atheists/anti-theists won't stop for shit.
This thread convinced me that Christians get really uncomfortable when people point out the obvious logical flaws and contradictory statements in their fantasy book and the "lol we dont like this part so we'll just change it, there everybody's happy now :)" sillyness. Tolerance is one thing. But tolerance doesn't mean Atheists or Agnostics have to shut up about how silly this whole thing is.
That's a weight off my mind. As an atheist, I was beginning to worry whether God would still accept me.
I knew he was going to be a good change when I read that he was pro condoms. I guess I was right. He is good for the religious community. Im not religious my self but this is good.
I don't think he's as vehemently "anti-gay" as you think. He doesn't personally condone a homosexual orientation. In that case he has stated his own opinion, how he feels about the subject. But he goes on to point out that as far as God is concerned, as long as you're trying to be a good person in the end, it won't matter what sins you've committed, and you'll still be saved. Gays, atheists, transgenders, white people, black people, purple people, everybody. He's saying that the only people going to hell are people that really deserve it. And yes, there is a distinction between the Pope's personal views and what the Pope holds God's views to be, since in Catholicism the Pope is God's representative on Earth. You could almost view it as a literal testament to the fact that he's not perfect - but God is. And the current pope knows it. I'm a Buddhist, by the way.
wow some major fucking logic holes you're jumping through to come to this conclusion.
Don't get me wrong for what I'm going to say. I'm just making an observation. In these months I heard a lot about "papa francesco" and I see every day a lot of people in love with the pope. That's not a problem for me, everyone is free to believe in what they want. It's that freedom thingy, kinda cool. But the 1 thing I haven't seen is an objective remark about all the things the pope said. What I find objective about this is that he's telling people things that should be given as known but still missing in many contest when it comes to religion or similar things (political/economical groups perhaps). Now that's good, but for many people it sounds like he's the only one that can think in that way while he's just doing what he should. The church was "bugged" before, the pope is not bringing it to the next level. And the question is: Should we praise a man for doing his job right or not particularly acknowledge him because he's just doing his work? Now, if we go back to reality of course you should be happy to see a good and genuine person but there're two things I dislike (and makes me think) from all this church 2.0 -You have more and more people that DARE to think that "good" comes from religion and it can't be a result of a different path -I have to realize that in 2013 we still have to get, for no kind of rational reason, a person to try to make clear that different doesn't mean "I can burn it". Which leads to the simple conclusion that things will never change because human kind needs to destroy it self because everyone is just completely obsess about power or things arising from it. But I'm just digressing... all I'm saying is that we should be happy about the pope (unless something comes out of course) but at the same time we should snap out and think that it doesn't take a theologian to realize what it's good or bad on these simple things. Especially when it comes to really closed minded things like religion/religious people. Trust me, I live in Italy, I saw many things about the church. I went to it for many years and actually looking backward it was just a massive waste of time (why wasn't I send to an academy of music damn). I'm not referring everything to bad things (like pedo) but damn... sometimes it feels like talking with a deaf-mute-blind person. Of course there will never be real respect between religious people and atheist but at least I will never say "you're too young or stupid" or "you are a bad person because you don't believe or follow the church". Even because you can't prove that god exist or that it doesn't! So why not just enjoy life and respect a little more? More objective and less impulsive! (which doesn't mean you can't believe in God or anything else) Feel free to destroy my way to think, I need some critique! And I apologize for my weird English and I hate hippies (I'm just saying that I'm not "no violence and smoke marijuana", I just try as hard as I can to be objective)
I like how everyone here is insulting everyone else and not giving a damn about my big ass comment! Damn you facepunchers! :pwn:
I like how everyone here is insulting everyone else and not giving a damn about my big ass comment! Damn you facepunchers! :pwn:
Way too long and wordy
I like how everyone here is insulting everyone else and not giving a damn about my big ass comment! Damn you facepunchers! :pwn:
yo you seem like an alright dude but you might want to stick to the topic at hand lol
That's a weight off my mind. As an atheist, I was beginning to worry whether God would still accept me.
The real good news is that you're a little less likely to be attacked for being an Atheist now.
He said everyone is redeemed, which is old news. He didn't actually say they were saved, which is different. So no, not everyone gets a "Get out of hell free" pass.
So I don't have to convert to get saved. Great, thats Catholicism covered, I just need to get absolution from the others now and I can go on a rampage.
yo you seem like an alright dude but you might want to stick to the topic at hand lol
Well when we speak about keeping things "at hand", when the topic is religion related, is kinda hard. I suppose there's the long and detailed method to handle things and the fast and aggressive method which tens to be too personal sometimes (not objective most of times). Keep in mind that this is barely a simple description and not a judgement on the 2 ways to proceed. So I'm not classifying in any way the content or the quality of both. But I must admit that I personally prefer the first method for several reasons ,like been misunderstood, and I didn't mind talking about this topic with someone out of my country. In conclusion.... Damn you Facepunchers!!
and I can go on a rampage.
What?
And? Its supposed to be treated as absolute and unequivocal truth from start to finish.
hahhahahaha
