Okay well the Galaxy Nexus runs pretty damn well and while I haven't ran the official build of Jellybean (since I was a Verizon CDMA peasant), it ran pretty goddamn well so I don't see your argument, if you even have one. Will the Galaxy Nexus run *insert UnrealEngine 3 game* at 60FPS outputted to 1080P on your television? No, but everything else? Pretty sure it will.
No actually it can't even go back in forth in the widgets menu consistently at 60fps.

Flicking back and forth right now. It's not even up there with a bloody iPhone 4.
I like my iPhone 5, quite a lot
And I'll enjoy the hell out of Daniel M thinking I'm a hipster douche tool while he froths at the proverbial mouth about my choice to try out my first iPhone
I'll sleep well at night knowing eventually you're going to grow bored of your experience and that you'll be stuck with it for 2 years. Also, generally speaking, enjoy paying out your ass throughout that time period.
As for me, I'll be getting nearly as fast download speeds as you are, better coverage, unlimited HSPA+ Data and I'll be saving $50 a month compared to the "competing" Verizon plan (unlimited text/minutes/2GB of data). Shit adds up. Do the math, I'm saving $1200 over the next 2 years, using my high-end quad core fully unlocked Nexus 4, which by the way cost as much unlocked as your phone did on a 2 year contract.

Wow, there isn't a douchier comment to say.

Literally any phone on my network is on a contract, most phones here on are on contracts. The iPhone even comes off a contract if I want to pay a buttload of money for it monthly
Now, because that has nothing to do with my phone, and only networks
Stop assuming I'm in the States and am dealing with your problems. I'm paying 60$ a month for my plan in total and get 10gb of data a month, with my phone and company. Your post isn't about phones at all. You realize that right?

If you know anything about how Android widgets work, it's loading a preview which is not being stored in the memory because honestly, how many times does the user make revisions to their desktop set up? Notice how the app-drawer performs flawlessly while the widgets has a negligible amount of stutter? That's why.

Stuttering is a flaw, no matter how it happens.

Okay well if my phone stutters once every three months I want to customize my homescreen, so be it. I'd rather have it stutter for 2 seconds than put up with Apple's shitty counter intuitive software.

Okay, I realize that not everyone lives in the United States but you need to realize that you're paying a shit load of money regardless. That "iPhone 5 that you got for $299" is actually going to cost you over a thousand dollars in the end, maybe even $1500. Me? I spent $300, popped in my SIM and called it a day.
When I was a little kid I thought that apple was pretty cool for updating their G3's to G4's and lowering the price. I then thought it was pretty awesome buying an ipod with my science fair money that held a 4GB HDD inside instead of using a walkman with discs like everyone else. Thank god for the internet and people like Daniel M who swiftly taught me that updating hardware/software and incrementing the version number was an evil practice designed to attract the frothing masses of hipsters and daddy's girls for an upgrade.

Life is great actually, working very flexible, minimal hours, love doing it, pretty much paid to go over to someone's desk, talk to them, fix their shit and getting paid more than fair to do it, I have a loving girlfriend, soon to be wife to come home to that enjoys this stuff just as much as I do. I live a more than comfortable lifestyle.
You can toss around insults and people can rate you "agree" but just because you have a couple check marks under your post doesn't mean you win.

How has my phone cost me that? You have NO idea how my plan works. You would not be saving this mythical and non existent 1200$ you claim to be saving.
Where am I spending excess money in this process? I bought my phone outright. It was a similar cost to the samsung Note 2(which was actually 60$ more) and the Windows 8 Lumia. The cost per month on each of those phones would have been similar down to 8$ on my total costs on my plan.
what the fuck are you talking about.

It's not going to cost you ~over 1000 dollars~. That's not how it works. If you are going to start factoring in cell plans, you should add it to your phone's price too.

and you can act smug and condescending as fuck over a phone or you can realize what you're saying and how you're acting.
be more objectivist about very subjective things.

And I don't support the purchase of the Note 2 or the Lumia 920. I paid $300 for a quad-core Nexus 4 with the 4.7 inch 720P display, 2GB of memory and I will be getting updates for the next 2-3 years. You paid double what I did and you're getting an inferior product. That is why I will sleep well tonight.

I paid 300$ canadian when your dollar was lower than ours, so technically I paid less.
I pay less monthly for more stuff as well as sit pretty with 32gb of memory on my phone.
Why are you being so smug? what are you over compensating for?

Well I would say it's counter intuitive and counter productive actually. There are so many things that are so easy on Android but so difficult on iOS, it's ridiculous. We live in 2013 and we still have people copying and pasting URLs into their browser of choice because Apple hasn't recognized after nearly 6 years that people like choice? We still don't have access to the mass storage that these users paid for? Seriously? People like to use their phones as storage, people shouldn't have to use Dropbox, a third party application to do something that a competing OS can do on a whim. The only reason instagram became popular was because iOS lacked social media integration that Android had since the initial release back in 2007. I mean there are many more examples but I've outlined them in previous posts of mine.

Okay, let's not talk about the lack of 4G, poor battery life, poor colour quality, and poor camera quality. The Nexus 4 cut many corners to reach that price tag.

I'm not going to factor in the cost of my phone because if I were to sign a contract, I'd be getting the Galaxy Note 2 which is $299 on a contract anyways. Either way, $1200 or $900 saved, quite a bit of money.
Think I'll buy the latest and greatest graphics card and maybe the new Intel chip with that money. Enjoy your Note. Pretty sure I'll be enjoying my $900/$1200 much more.

I'm getting 2mb/s less than what I did on Verizon's LTE. Honestly I'm not missing it, especially with the battery drain LTE radios cause.
Also I posted that I'm getting around 5-6 hours of on-screen battery time. The camera is great and I've gotten compliments on the pictures I took from a Muse gig I went to recently, which was a very low-lit area so I guess that's out the window.
As for the color calibration, I've done that myself and well, I'm not getting into that again. The colors were good enough stock anyways.
No you calibrated it by eye. You're not getting back into it because last time you looked like an idiot and I'm sure it's not worth repeating.
It's not saved! You're going to be paying it regardless!
Uh, how? I'm spending $30 a month for unlimited text/data/minutes on a Nexus 4. If I were on any other plan, I'd be paying at least $50 more than what I pay now. I definitely consider that money saved. It's not like I'm some penny pincher anyways, I just believe in a price to performance ratio. If you can justify another $350 for a .7 inch bigger screen and a slightly better camera with the LTE (which is compensated for with the massive battery) and stylus capabilities, go ahead. Just know it's not worth it.
The way I think of it is, it's kind of like paying $1000 for one of those i7 extreme processors that is somewhat better, but that extra $700 on top of the basic model only gives you an extra 10% performance wise.
I'm getting 2mb/s less than what I did on Verizon's LTE. Honestly I'm not missing it, especially with the battery drain LTE radios cause.
yes, this is why LTE has an OFF switch(Not even buried in menus) for when you don't want it.

I've had my phone last as a flashlight, walkie talkie, and phone/text messager/email while I was on set working away from a phone charger for 18 hours. I know this because I worked 18 hours that day. It lived til I got home.
As far as concert photos go, that's really, really not a good way to measure if you're camera's okay or not, so that doesn't through it out the window. As a fucking cinematographer, it really doesn't. Any camera can do well, and I've seen some good photos on many phones, but whether it's photographers all have iphones or it's something else, I've seen the best off iPhone cameras. The iphone 5 is no slacker in that category.

Okay, this is horseshit. I'll tell you why. If you calibrated the colours yourself, with your eyes alone, they'd be off. This is just a fact. I calibrate proffesional quality monitors on regularly, they're barely doable by eye, low quality phone screens(even the iPhones) aren't quality enough to actually be properly calibrated by eye.
Now if you're going to bullshit anymore I'll just refer to my posts you ignored earlier.

Uh, I calibrated it by eye because people were pointing out how "terrible" the colors were when honestly they seemed great and vibrant. I'm not doing graphic-design on my phone. I have a high-end 1440P IPS monitor for that. The colors are good enough. Stop nitpicking to get your point across and whore out for agree ratings from your little iBuddies.
I've even admitted that they should have calibrated the screen, but guess what, they didn't. Can you justify an additional $350 for the additional color accuracy? You can? Enjoy pissing your money away.

Uhhh, most tech journalists said the camera quality was much poorer compared to the S3 and the iPhone (which is still has the best smartphone camera according to the reviewers as well), so I guess that's out the window.

LTE not being hidden depends on your carrier and your device actually, I've ran into several phones that had it hidden/locked/whatever.
You're a cinematographer? Use a goddamn camera. You know, a professional one. Don't nitpick about a $300 phone not being up to your "standards" as a cinematographer.
There's a difference between 18 hours of "usage" and 5-6 hours of screen on time. I doubt you got anywhere near the 5 hour mark. If you did, you probably GPS/NFC/4G/everything turned off and your screen at the lowest brightness setting.

It's really not too hard for a factory to calibrate their own colours.

I'm not saying I'd use it. I'm commentating on it's quality compared to other phones. Considering what you can do to iphone footage though, i wouldn't be surprised.
More than 7 hours of screen time. Yes, why would I have things I have no need of turned on when I don't need them? Yes, at night and in low light environments why be on high brightness?
