no. i'm pretty sure you must be running some old ass phone/tablet if you're using a custom ROM. much like we must be running android 1.6 to be using third party applications
You don't use Chrome? You don't use Messaging? You don't use the dialer? You don't use the alarm clock? You don't use camera? You don't use Gallery? You don't use Maps? You don't use YouTube? You don't use People?
Do you have friends? Do you even go outside?
Just pointing out that most mums would not know what to do with it if they had one. If I handed a phone to my mum right now, I'd show her how she could navigate using voice, browse the web, control XBMC through the app and she'd say "that's nice, but can I make phone calls and text with it?"
That's the majority of consumers for you. Yeah, it might do everything the "average person needs" but we're on a online forum discussing technology. I'm not going to be told "it's a matter of opinion" when looking at feature list vs feature list.
but a majority of the consumers aren't on this forum.

Chrome yes messaging fuck no, alarm clock no, camera no, gallery no, maps yes, youtube yes, people no. There are all better apps than those for those things that are third party why would you stick with those
also the fuck with the personal jab there

The honest truth is that even if something is provably slower/has too high of a markup/has shitty apps whatever the fuck you want to pin it with (not that I'm saying any of these things are true)... it still comes down to preference what you want. Some people just like the look and feel of other phones better, for example I liked the Galaxy S3 except touchwiz makes me want to scoop my eye balls out. Some people like touchwiz though, and that's fine too.
EDIT:
According to your iBuddies. All twelve of you. Doesn't mean much.
the fuck is this shit, I haven't bought an apple product in like 6/7 years and I'm an "iBuddy" because I think you're acting a bit nuts?

Everyone posting defending the iPhone is not the average consumer. If you know how to use VBulletin and post on Facepunch, you are at least slightly above average on the technical literacy scale.
When we discuss technology vs technology, don't bring up "well it does everything the average person needs" because so does Android, and so does that shitty black and white screen, camera-less Nokia from 1999 sitting in my bottom drawer.

i'm sorry buddy but this isn't 2004. the average person is doing way more than calls and texting on their phone in the year of our lord 2013.

oh man sorry i forgot we "nerds" all had an agreeance on technology that we'd use and didn't have an individual opinion amongst us, except you

Dude, VBulletin is simple as fuck, we have 12 year olds registering here all the time.

Holy shit is this really necessary...? I mean if you were less of a dick and just kept to the facts rather than personal insults you'd probably have way more people agreeing with you and the people who didn't respecting your opinion, instead of everyone thinking you're bruce wayne filling up his pool with pudding crazy

Okay well my girlfriend's dumb ass little sister for instance, that is your average consumer. The tweeting, snapchatting, browsing the internet at the dinner table 12 year old girls are doing pretty much the same things as the target demographics for these devices.
Does Android not provide these things for the "average consumer"? At a much better price point for the hardware you're getting? I would definitely say it does.

The fact is though, one of the things we have to discuss is what does the average user need?
As well as the Software, hardware, the issues with each phone, price point and the list goes on.
The thing is, you seem to be blinded from the fact that android isn't perfect, it has its list of issues, for example not having the best battery life in some phone, the fact that it can be rather slow at times, that updates may not reach your phone for a very long time, if ever.
Also, i think its time you took a break and went and hung out with this so called girlfriend of yours
oh man sorry i forgot we "nerds" all had an agreeance on technology that we'd use and didn't have an individual opinion amongst us, except you
Well obviously we don't have a general positive consensus in favor of Android around here knowing that we have a bunch of iPhone peasants still spouting off about how amazing their overpriced, underwhelming products are.

you have yet to prove that as the "average consumer"

stop being such a condescending ass about this
no one is being an iphone peasant or anything do you not see what a massive child you're being
I haven't been underwhelmed with my phone, others haven't either, many people here are android fans, but they wouldn't get in an argument like this because they would have better sense than to just be a condescending tool about your own opinion.
I like my phone, I liked my other phone but it took effort at first and at the end of its life it was dying and junky. This phone will probably go like that too, maybe not, but for now, this phone is awesome in my own experience.
I'm going to leave it there because I got you frothed at the mouth, as did anyone else who didn't sheepishly bow down to your "superior" opinion
what the fuck
If you're not using messaging/phone/people (default applications), you just don't have friends. Just stating a fact. You're not using your phone as a phone and phones are made for sociable people and you probably just play HellMOO and a bunch of arcade games off your phone all day.

allot of people like android on these forums, but as i said, when someone like you bashes the iPhone without any real facts, as much as someone loves android, they will defend the iPhone where its due.
you have yet to prove that as the "average consumer"
In 485 posts he is yet to prove anything ever.

Obviously you're just as "frothed at the mouth" as I am seeing as you've invested as much time into arguing your points as I have.

hey dingus you can replace all 3 of those apps, though it is hilarious that you're touting basic functions like texting and phone calls as some major triumph on google's part.
Well obviously we don't have a general positive consensus in favor of Android around here knowing that we have a bunch of iPhone peasants still spouting off about how amazing their overpriced, underwhelming products are.
Did you actually just call people who own iPhones peasants without a hint of irony :v:
Plenty of us like Android better, I much prefer it myself. I just think you're being a massive dick for no good reason

no

Except you've invested your time not actually arguing a single point. Everything is so fallacious and logically broken and incoherent, it's so laughable.

According to the man that insists that the screen is not good enough if it isn't spot on with the Adobe RGB guidelines. Okay.

"frothed at the mouth" is not a function of time. it is a function of asking people if they have friends based on using the wrong phone apps and calling iphone users peasants.

i've been here a third of the thread that you have
i've said my things and haven't been aggressive or angry or showing of any condescension. Everyone of your posts is condescending to anyone who doesn't agree to you.

Not Adobe RGB, it should be sRGB, and it just should be close.
Also don't worry your pretty little heads about me "wasting my time"
I'm playing DotA2 on another monitor. All is well.

Great to know you are holier than us, dear leader.
