Fucking Democrats, they had 60 seats, now 59, and they keep caving to the minority. News flash, idiots: The Republicans will never work with you. No matter how many concessions you make, or how much you bleat about bipartisanship, you will never get a single vote. They go back to their districts every weekend and tell their constituents that you're trying to socialize America, take over healthcare, give illegal immigrants free surgery, force them to have abortions and sex changes, and euthanize granny. If they vote for you on anything, they'll have to admit to their districts that they've spent the last year lying their asses off. It's never going to work, there's no point trying to include them in any part of the process, their sole goal is to obstruct anything and everything until such time as they can con their way into power.
Goddamnit, stop selling us out on the issue we put you people in office for.

If a healthcare reform bill gets passed, we do it right. Instead of just rushing an unfinished bill through congress and acting surprised when it doesn't work out the way it was supposed to.

It was finished, it was paid for, reformed insurance, and provided coverage for everyone. We're stuck with this piece of shit bill because the Senate kept handing concessions to the Republicans and their own backstabbing members because of this idiotic 60-seat rule.

Fixed. They were doing this without ANY Republicans supporting this and any thing they suggested was ignored.

No doubt the worst of the damage was done giving in to Nelson and Libermann, who I sincerely hope will be eternally branded as the scrooges who killed health reform. It's disgusting that the Democrats can be handed their best shot in decades and can't even keep their party in line.
I really think congress should focus more on getting us out of the recession and less on passing health care reform, I realize this is a good opportunity since there are mostly democrats in congress but seriously there's more time and money for this once we're out of the recession.

They knew this was the only chance they were going to get. The GOP is no more willing to work with them in a good economy than they are in a bad. Actual bipartisanship, however much they like to whine and cry about it, is political suicide when you spend your days telling people the other party wants to off their parents.

:allears:
I post this in every healthcare thread because it's important:
The US spends more per capita on healthcare than other countries with socialized medicine do.
For the lazy, in Canada 69.8% of healthcare costs are covered by the government. 17.7% of government revenue is spent on health.
In the United States, only 45.4% of healthcare costs are covered by the government yet you guys spend 18.5% of your revenue on health.
We also manage to have a higher life expectancy and lower infant mortality rate.
Universal healthcare works great when your government isn't wrought with inefficiencies.
