That's just you. If you have any interest in fashion you will see that well dressed people are rare (depending on where you live). I guess ignorance is bliss in this case.
And I think 90% of people I meet are well dressed. Who do you think lives a happier life?
Again thats just you. It takes a lot more to impress other people who know and care about fashion.
Yeah, thanks god they are rare, according to you.
$1000 half-annually isn't a lot. It's like $150 a month. Not a lot if you try to dress up in anything but the cheapest stuff. Try hard has nothing to do with the money you spend but with the clothes you wear.
I don't really wear the cheapest stuff, I just buy something and it stays in rotation for 3 years or so.
Yes, image is very important. Even though it doesn't seem like it peoples opinions change on you if you wear the same shit every week again and again. At least updating all the time keeps you fresh, which is pretty important.
Holy balls, you're shallow.
Yeah, thanks god they are rare, according to you.
At least rare where I live. It's different from city to city.
I don't really wear the cheapest stuff, I just buy something and it stays in rotation for 3 years or so.
That's cool and perfectly normal. I don't spend $150 monthly too. But I don't think that people spending several thousands on clothes are crazy, tryhard or anything.
Holy balls, you're shallow.
Did I say it makes up who a person is? If you're looking to meet girls and impress people or maybe even for the sake of wanting to look good for once, you can't be wearing the gap sweatshirt your dad gave you 10 years ago. Sure people are people no matter what but I'm more interested in someone who can look presentable. Then again, this is facepunch and stuff like this doesn't register in some people.

Sorry dude, you're shallow.
As long as somebody isn't wearing a potato sack or a HAZMAT, I barely register what they are wearing
you do subconsciously
There's keeping an image and there's trashing $1000 every 6 months. Sorry dude, you're shallow.
If I can make the money and spend it freely without issue what is the problem? Is it because not wearing the same clothes every other day is too much hassle for you?
That jacket doesn't even look worth £100.
If I can make the money and spend it freely without issue what is the problem? Is it because not wearing the same clothes every other day is too much hassle for you?
I suppose it's not a big deal so long as you don't bitch about being unable to buy other things or you aren't some massively entitled prick. It is shallow in my opinion, but who am I to judge. If that is what you like then go ahead, it's your money.
900£ or not, that's a pretty ballin' jacket.
If I can make the money and spend it freely without issue what is the problem? Is it because not wearing the same clothes every other day is too much hassle for you?
there's nothing wrong with it in itself, but when you come in a thread to reply to someone with "oh really? I spend $1000 in 6 months on clothes!" it comes across as a bit boastful or condescending.

Only someone shallow would try and judge too hard based on looks alone. You're way better off finding someone who is the opposite of you really. Of course, being presentable is always a key. Dressing up like a tool is obviously not the way to go but nothing wrong with being medicore or over the top. It's about judgement, judging too hard can tend to be bad.
There's keeping an image and there's trashing $1000 every 6 months. Sorry dude, you're shallow.
How is it trashing?
If I can make the money and spend it freely without issue what is the problem?
No it's because not wearing the same clothes every other day would require me to have a hell of a lot more money than I have to spend on something as frivolous as clothes
But it makes me shallow/docuhey if I do have the money?
But it makes me shallow/docuhey if I do have the money?
No but it makes you a dick if you judge people who don't.
there's nothing wrong with it in itself, but when you come in a thread to reply to someone with "oh really? I spend $1000 in 6 months on clothes!" it comes across as a bit boastful or condescending.
Well everyone I know spends around that much on clothes, and It's not like I live in a extremely rich area either where all work is really high, I live downtown in my city.

[editline]10th September 2012[/editline] Or you might just be not representative of your particular income group. Generally people with similar interests tend to clump together so your circle of friends might just be unusually fashion-conscious.
Looks like a pretty crappy jacket.
900£ or not, that's a pretty ballin' jacket.
you could get a really really nice jacket for that money
... I see what they buy and they tell me how much it was worth, or I look at what they have and know how much it costs...
But that will exacerbate the effect not reduce it.
This jacket gave me Autism
What are you even talking about this is pretty much how everyone lives!
How do you know? How big is your reference pool?
Wow I spend around $1000 on new gear every 6 months or so
Damn dude that fails, I blow $150k every 6 months on gear.
Now we all can be sexy MILF hunters like Leon!
how did this thread get from an overpriced ugly jacket to talking down on people because they dont haw the luxury of spending a lot of money on clothes on a regular basis
The magic of Facepunch.
I like how you guys just jump to conclusions saying dental is shallow because he spends money on clothes. How does that work? He wasn't throwing it anybodies faces and then you guys just started attacking him.
