Basically. The point we are all getting at here is that yeah, looking good is kinda useful from time to time (still need to work out exactly what works with me), but paying fuckig silly money every month for clothes you are going to throw a month down the line is borderline clinically retarded. Telling people who don't spend that kind of money that they essentially suck is probably a effect of clinical retardation. Then near bragging and insisting that the people who care about your clothes aren't shallow is just bloody retarded. [editline]11th September 2012[/editline] Like, it can be nice to have a few sets of clothes for going out in. But like fuck you actually need a $50 shirt, $70 jeans and god knows how expensive shoes just to get through your day. Cheap clothes are great day to day wear. Brand names mean nothing. Good people and friends shouldn't care about that kind of shit.
i wish i had money to blow and dumb things
That's probably more than I spent on all my clothes altogether over last three years.
More like 10.
That's not stylish at all what the fuck are you talking about? You honestly think that he's pulling that off? Also, I say you kids because most of your mentalities are ones that a lot of kids I knew in high school had, also because most of you are in high school, and don't have much if any money of your own to spend. No one I know now gives two shits about how much is spent on clothes. It's pretty much key where I live.
Oh, I guess where you live has a lot to do with it. Here no one really cares about clothes that much...

Please don't tell me I've been discussing this with a retard. And bitches ain't good people, you gotta get that through your head, guy.

And no I never said you'd throw them all out, but if you are buying clothes near constantly, you are going to be getting rid of some that not doubt still have plenty of wear left. You also seem to have totally missed the point of that post. Good job. Outside of Guido central and hipster hell, I have rarely actually run into people who give enough of a toss about clothing to actually judge someone straight up. So I'm tempted to say you live in one of those kinds of cities right? Where almost everyone is an airhead who gets by on their looks and money, and has no redeemable personality traits to actually make them pleasant human beings? Fuck I love living in the UK, we are so apathetic about almost everything (except tea), so few people actually care what you are wearing enough to comment on it. Let alone shoot you a funny look. [editline]11th September 2012[/editline] Fuck this auto-correct so much.
Holy fuck, I'm not saying clothes make up who you are, can you fucking read? Nice new clothes do not make you who you are. But it sure helps presentation.
Fine. I'll drop this argument, it's getting kinda dull, but you need to admit your first few posts about people not spending much money in clothes made you come off as an asshole. Because they totally did, and you were verging on "stepping on a Lego brick" territory of asshole punishment. Presentation helps, but $1000 every 6 months is still a fucking sly amount of money for clothes unless you literally never spend a day not trying to pull "bitches". Gotta have some cheap stuff for lazy days and bumming around in.
I spend about $100 every four months roughly on new clothes. And its mostly just new undershirts since mine always seem to shred like they are made out of tissue paper. But as far as what people can see, they are relatively nice dress shirts and dress pants and a leather belt that has lasted years without issue. I don't honestly need to go out and buy clothes very often because what I have works. It looks very clean and nice, without being too formal.

Nice looking clothes sometimes warrant higher prices. It's also what it's made of and where it comes from factors price and value.
As long as what I wear doesn't look like a patchwork quilt and is crisp and clean, I don't see why it matters what I spent on it. Quite frankly, I'm not impressed by the brand or cost of a person's clothing. And if they try to use those things as a way to get my attention or respect, I'm going to think less of them.
nty Dead Rising 2 Jacket plz

I have several really nice jackets and they were all under a hundred. Even my most expensive suit jacket which was custom tailored wasn't $600...

I probably spend around $600 every year on shopping, so I'm not that cheap, but I really don't judge anybody off if they wear the same thing every week, as I usually do. I don't think people are going to go, "Oh my God I can't believe he's worn that blue shirt every week for the last two months" and anyone that does is kind of a cunt and is the one with the problem, not you. Fashion is fine and all to spend money on, but it's really douchey, rude, and overall just unreasonable to expect everybody to shell out $600 every six months. I don't know if you live on your own and if it's your own money, but $600 isn't easy to come by for most people, and shelling out that kind of dosh for CLOTHES is just silly. Again, if buying clothes is what you like, good for you. I'd much rather spend my money on taking my girlfriend out and upgrading my PC. Just don't be a cunt to other people, christ.
900£ or not, that's a pretty ballin' jacket.
as far as leather jackets go, it looks like poop
How much do you want to bet there's a tag on it saying "Collectable item, not intended for wearing"
'made in taiwan' 'may cause cancer'
I'll buy 2 t shirts and maybe a pair of jeans about once a year. This thread has told me this is not even slightly normal :(
Why do people care so much about what other people like to wear, shut the fuck up. This is Facepunch, not nursery.
Again: spending a lot money on clothes is perfectly fine. It only matters on what kind of clothes you spend them and if you earn the money yourself. Asking your mom to buy you $400 sneakers is unreasonable. Buying clothes with visible branding to show off is dumb. Spending $3000 on a nice unique comfy leather jacket that will last you years is fine as long as you earned the money yourself. Spending $1000 a month is fine too as long as you can afford it. Getting indebted because of expensive clothes is stupid as hell. Everbody cares more or less about clothes since you can't leave the house without them. Most people won't judge you because of your clothes. A lot people just buy them to be warm and clothed. You will get compliments from people even if you wear simple stuff because most don't have a deep understanding of fashion. You can take a picture of a tree with your iphone and your friends will say it looks nice. A photographer will criticize the bad composition. Most people have a cheap compact camera because it fits their needs. Photographers spend several thousands on gear because their use of the camera goes beyond taking holiday photos. It can be the same with clothes. For some people buying clothes goes beyond just being clothed. Fashion can be a hobby. And as a lot of hobbies it can be expensive. That's why you shouldn't ridicule people who spend a lot of money on clothes.
Okay. Don't tell me you actually fucking think i throw all my other clothes away when I buy new clothes?
well it's kind of a mathematical necessity in the long run unless you buy new wardrobes all the time
