the response from chat was like "do it faget" then he actually started going through with killing himself no one ever wants to see that
I don't think it mattered what people in the chat said.
It's sick that so many people wanted to sit and watch some guy kill himself.
that is wrong it'd be more strange for a person to not have a compulsion to watch that
And my buddy still tells me that 4chan isn't fucked up or full of fucked up people
ITT: People think /b/ is 4chan on average.
Couldnt really give a fuck hes an attention whore.
You guys do realise that /b/ spent most of that thread trying to speed-dox the guy so that they could call the emergency services on him, right? They got as far as narrowing it down to a few universities he could be at based on the way his room looked before the emergency services came up.
That has got to be an awful experience trying to dox someone with a time limit like that. I've got to respect their attempt to do so.
the response from chat was like "do it faget" then he actually started going through with killing himself no one ever wants to see that
Most of the time, it's just a /b/ fag wanting attention, but then this shit happens, and if you see the livestream comments, the chat tries to talk him out of it.
Hes gonna survive, hes in stable condition at a hospital http://www.guelphmercury.com/news-story/4249074-one-person-hurt-in-u-of-guelph-residence-fire/
lol guelph nothing to do out there except burn yourself to death
In the end, an idiot decided an attempt to kill himself, a person, craving attention, got what he deserved.
In the end, an idiot decided an attempt to kill himself, a person, craving attention, got what he deserved.
I wouldn't call him an "idiot" without knowing his mental state. He could have a treatable mental illness.
#lolimonfirw WTF is with this guy And did he actually die?
#lolimonfirw WTF is with this guy And did he actually die?
No, he's in stable condition at Guelph General Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening burns. Scroll up for source
No, he's in stable condition at Guelph General Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening burns. Scroll up for source
right, another source to prove he's alive: http://www.uoguelph.ca/news/2013/12/fire_in_east_re.html
He must have some mental illness besides being suicidal to want to set himself on fire. It's not a widely used suicide method because of the pain during it, and the pain afterwards in the likely event that you don't die. He must have wanted attention, and also wanted to punish himself for some reason. I don't know whether he actually planned on dying, because he didn't have a backup method like a gun for finishing the job. I hope he gets the help he needs. EDIT: university is an especially fragile environment. He may have been failing classes and hating himself for it. I've felt that way too, but never enough to set my room on fire.
In the end, an idiot decided an attempt to kill himself, a person, craving attention, got what he deserved.
"It's okay, he tried to off himself - no one should care about his state." An attitude like this is lazy and hurtful. No one is going to say this professionally in the mental health field. Stop saying toxic crap that helps nothing.
In the end, an idiot decided an attempt to kill himself, a person, craving attention, got what he deserved.
Good job not understanding anything about depression and/or mental illness, being incredibly fucking insensitive in the process. Nobody commits suicide (or serious attempts of it) just to get some attention without serious underlying causes (like a serious depression) that should be worked out and treated. Often suicide attempts are designed to fail, meant as a cry for help, not because the person is an attention craving idiot as you put it, but because there's a serious need for help.
/b/tards are really the scum of the earth. Lol. Nothing new there. I really don't even understand how someone can just... Laugh at another human being taking their own life.
Pretty fucking young to be seeing the stuff that can be seen on that place if you ask me.
11 year olds can be pretty fucked up.

He used a method that's not too fatal especially if you're broadcasting it and someone's gonna call emergency services, and he was in university and probably failing classes.
Well if this is anything to go by, I'm not surprised he was depressed enough to be suicidal:
I was just thinking about the fact that he just made things worse for himself by setting fire to university property. I hope they're lenient on him if he gets psychological help.
Don't blame 4chan though, blame /b/. People keep blaming the entire website when /b/ is where the most shit happens.
/v/, /pol/ etc [editline]2nd December 2013[/editline]
that's pretty bizarre. the way he seems so happy and nonchalant about it is fucking with me
This is actually really common with people who decide to end their life at a scheduled time or soon.

Wait wait. He's been a /b/ goer since 2004. It's 2013 and he's 20. He's been going to /b/ since he was fucking 11? Jesus CHRIST. No wonder he's so fucked up.
In the end, an idiot decided an attempt to kill himself, a person, craving attention, got what he deserved.
A lot of people call those who are suicidal 'attention whores' or say stuff like 'they're just doing it for attention lol' But why exactly is attention a bad thing? If you are in so much pain you are trying to end your own life, then maybe a little reassurance will have a positive impact. Every human being likes to feel appreciated and welcomed, so why do we consider wanting attention such a terrible act?
This was at Guelph? Dude.... That's depressing.
This was at my university, didn't know the guy.
This was at Guelph? Dude.... That's depressing.
Guelph is like the nicest city. It really sucks because I go here and there's a lot of help for those who need counselling free of charge, I personally used it to help myself and it made myself feel a lot better when I was in a bit of a bad cycle of thoughts, which I thought was actually awesome that it worked. I wish this guy would've just talked to someone
Anyone got a video of the stream?
