4chan moderation is pretty good, especially with the changes they recently made. It takes only a few seconds to ban someone now, and moot set up a public list of bans that takes a sample of the recent bans. It may look like people are never banned, because 4chan doesn't use public bans often, but it does happen.

I genuinely don't think that 4chan is as traumatic as people like to make out. I mean, on most days, the worst thing there is on there is porn.
Occasionally bad shit does crop up, but I doubt it's going to cause any lasting damage to someone. They'd probably just be freaked out for a while.

How would it even ruin his childhood? At worst he's going to see some gore or something, which isn't good, but he's not going to be suddenly incapable of having fun.

Most of 4chan likes to say "do it fgt" until the person [i]actually[/i] starts doing it, then they quickly recant. Usually they think the person is just bluffing.
