If valve were on the stock market, i'd sell some stock right about now
Luckily for all of us, Valve is a privately held corporation who don't have to answer to the stock market.
Call me pessimist but I don't think the first announcement will be Steambox.
Besides the controllers, the entire steambox concept isn't even designed for 99% of people who already have a gaming PC. Its meant to be a device for people who would be in the market for a console; chances are if you already use Steam to purchase games its a moot point. People keep saying "xyz launch title" or "xyz exclusive title for steambox" which makes little to no sense. Valve don't need exclusives because their library is so huge, they also don't need exclusives because they already have customers. Their entire strategy to date seems more on building a huge customer base than pinning their hopes on selling the steambox at a loss and hoping to make up for it with games sales; the steambox will just be a 'convenient' device that is open to customization (I believe Gabe already said it won't be locked down at all). Once they have a convenient device then people will purchase it and use steam to buy games (its not like the ouya marketplace or something where there are no interesting titles). So, again, if you already have a PC its probably not going to be interesting--think about it, its going to be the exact same game library just on a different device. The controllers will sure as fuck be awesome though.
Oh jeez 54 or so minutes.
Why do they have to announce it during class? Why can't it be now, or 4 hours from now. This better be steambox, I rather not have to try to build my friend a console-sized gaming PC.

I know its probably gonna be nothing I'm interested in but I'm still excited.
I feel the disappointment creeping up on me...
Oh shit, here it comes.
I don't know why you guys are expecting anything else than a living room console. Gabe Newell even said that valve would announce a linux based "console" this week on linuxcon
I don't know why you guys are expecting anything else than a living room console. Gabe Newell even said that valve would announce a linux based "console" this week on linuxcon
Its the controllers that most people are likely hyped for.
I'm most hyped for the console, or more the price point of it.
Linux aside I wonder what's gonna set it apart from other consoles I hope they release a new steam client for smartphones that doesn't suck & a way to use it as a controller that could be neat
I'm just excited for anything valve puts out at this point.
2 minutes and counting; I'm interested to see what's in store.
1 minute
1 minute. Don't know why I'm even excited.
I have a bottle of root beer. Who will drink with me when the timer hits zero?
You all will be somehow dissapointed. Calling it.
STEAMOS, my oh my
1st reveal: SteamOS http://store.steampowered.com/livingroom/SteamOS/
Woah. Holy shit.
SteamOS.. Interesting
-snip-
Holy shit this is awesome:
You can play all your Windows and Mac games on your SteamOS machine, too. Just turn on your existing computer and run Steam as you always have - then your SteamOS machine can stream those games over your home network straight to your TV!
GabeOS confirmed for new Portal series antagonist
So does this SteamOS run on electricity or water?
I fucking knew it, this is the best way to compensate for programming for different linux distros, make your own linux distro and bypass that.
Windows killer! Edit: I was joking :/
