It may seem harmless. Heck, it probably is, but that's not going to stop parents from complaining. If I remember right, Parents complained when a TV commercial in Europe showed a Homosexual couple.
I guess the parents will just have to not act like babies then.

Shouldn't be too hard, I believe in them.
Geography – examining the transformation of San Francisco's Castro district in the 1960s from a working-class Irish area to the world's first "gay neighbourhood", and considering why homosexuals move from the countryside to cities;
Languages – using gay characters in role play scenarios, and teaching "LGBT vocabulary"
This all seems to feed off of stereotypes. I don't see how this is helping anyone?
How so? The Castro district did become a "gay area" and the roleplay thing just means word problems involving gay couples as well as straight.
If this passes, I demand we do this level of focus on every majority and minority group specifically.
It already exists for straight people. All this is doing is including LGBT people in a minor way, as to increase acceptance and make it be something closer to normality for people.
Do you really need any history month? Having things like black history month just adds to the segregation.
Ideally you should educate everyone on all cultures, not just western/european/heterosexual things.
Morgan freeman says it best:

Just have to say it. Morgan Freeman is the man.
This whole thread is retarded.

No it doesn't. In my classes, there is no specific focus on heterosexuality, be it in history, etc. If this goes, I demand a specific focus. Also a focus on pedophiles, too. And Seventh-Day Adventists.
I understand the need to promote tolerance for homosexuality. This isn't the right way.
"celebrate the gay community"
thats bullshit, lets have
"celebrate the straight community"
Welcome back ignorance, we've missed you so.
Well whatever, I just don't think it should be taught
Cause you're a faggot.
I see no other logical excuse, you're in the closet and dislike gays.
What's wrong with teaching kids that no matter what happens they can love anyone irrespective of gender, race and other such things that draw bigotry?
Infact yeah you're right, we must not allow the sickness to infect our children, my god won't something think of the children!
Cause you're a faggot.

You are fucking retarded.
No, idiot.
If you like other men, you have a fetish for men.
Also, I know I'm probably gonna get banned for being homophobic, but I mean, this should not be taught.
haha ok so liking women is a fetish? what is sexual preference then..? lol.

How about we think about them in terms of increasing time and funding dedicated to science, math and arts programs instead of spending time and resources on something that should be dealt with by their parents in the first place?
"celebrate the gay community"

somehow i doubt we need to celebrate a community that has never been discriminated against EVER
How about we think about them in terms of increasing time and funding dedicated to science, math and arts programs instead of spending time and resources on something that should be dealt with by their parents in the first place?
The issue with that is that 70% of parents are chronically retarded.
How about we think about them in terms of increasing time and funding dedicated to science, math and arts programs instead of spending time and resources on something that should be dealt with by their parents in the first place?
because it's still apart of education. ignorance is the main cause of bigotry so only through education can ignorance be squashed. when you leave this shit up to the parents that's when you keep having the same groups staying racist or sexist or homophobic.
You are fucking retarded.
Unable to spot Irony?

But all we hear about is the negatives....its jades you easily into not caring or making you go nuts.

if they don't want their kids exposed to homosexuality, that's their problem to deal with, not ours
Unable to spot Irony?
Yes.
To expand on my previous post, i agree that ignoring the problem doesn't make it go away.
I've known plenty of gay/lesbian people IRL and through the wonders of the internet I've even known a transsexual manchick, all were pretty cool but I'm certainly not going to suck their metaphorical cock.
The people who accept them, accept them. A compulsory class isn't going to change a bigot's mind anymore than all the other people telling them they're wrong, and it is useless for people like me who want to learn things in school. (so wrong of me)
I thought all this was settled on the first page, this isn't necessary. It just isn't.
uh yes it will. If someone is taught to accept something from an early age, they're going to be more likely to accept it. People raised in prejudiced environments are usually prejudiced, people raised in tolerant environments are usually tolerant.
Actually what these classes do is take a look at a bigots mind and find the best attack on their beliefs, they're trying to make gays and the like appear more human to bigots instead of some filthy immoral creature.
They're trying to break indoctrination, that won't happen with a kids parents cause the parents are probably the driving force in the kids life.
And I was being ironic, calling him a faggot and that's why he hates gays, cause he's in the closet, get it?
Fuck is it too much to ask that someone reads a post properly instead of going into a fit of internet rage?
Yes.

classes WILL change bigots minds, as bigotry thrives on ignorance! how do you combat ignorance??? education!!!! what does education consist of?.... classes!!!! and it's not like these classes are for 40 year olds who have been bigots their whole life, it's for kids so that the kids wont grow up thinking gays or lesbians or whatever are completely bizarre and deserving ridicule
Really? because we haven't had pro-gay classes for the last 50 years but shit seems to be going fairly well.
Really? because we haven't had pro-gay classes for the last 50 years but shit seems to be going fairly well.
...4 letters for you that kicked up a lot of fuss in america.
DADT
Y'know, if this is true, then that means that when they teach about gravity, they'd teach it to be a force you can't help but go down on.
Where the HELL did I hear that joke from?
...................................... what
I don't know how to explain without sounding retarded. Hell, my reasoning is probably really stupid or just from some weird ego thing. So forget it.
...4 letters for you that kicked up a lot of fuss in america.

Possibly one of the more horrible arguments since that went away too.
Fact is, America is moving forward on the whole gay issue, you know it's true but why? We haven't had pro-gay propaganda since the age of 5 so really, why?
I didn't have a gay acceptance class and i have no problem with them whatsoever, my mother didn't either, but my grandmother was a hilariously bigoted person. How did that happen? Magic?

nah i said what because what you said really made no sense. like, you worded it really badly.

Do you have any fucking idea how psychology works?
Clearly you don't so I'll explain this for you easily.
Children are impressionable for a large chunk of their early life, they copy parents, what they say and what they do, that's how we learn at an early age, we learn to walk and talk by watching the grown ups.
It's likely if those grown ups are racist, we learn to be racist, it works like indoctrination. Even then, it doesn't always happen, there is no such thing as 100% success rate and with shit like this it's probably around the 50% mark.
And you used anecdotal evidence there, horrendous idea.
And you also seem to have forgot the substantial public backlash to the repeal of DADT, and several officers and commanders in the US armed forces speaking out against it and even a few resigning over the decision.
America is moving forward, and is still 30 - 40 years behind the rest of the civilised world.
And you yourself gave evidence for why you have no problem with gays, you are friend with a few, kinda answered your own question dude.

So why not setup classes to get rid of the other bad ideas in society? why not just take the children from the parent's care from birth?
This is a fucking stupid idea but good luck with it.
[editline]e[/editline]
Furthermore, would you say my mother indoctrinated me into not being a horrible bigot, brainwashed me? how does that work looking from the outside in?
